4 Chapter 4 The Apocalypse

"There are still tasks. And I can get 5000 survival points!"

The meaning of surviving points for Jack didn't need to be explained too much, but it was not easy for Jack to hold on for an hour when the doomsday came twelve hours later.

Jack hadn't even lasted ten minutes before.

But when he looked at the completely upgraded refuge, Jack suddenly became confident.

While all kinds of natural disasters had begun outside, there were still twelve hours left before the more devastating doomsday.

Jack picked up his phone and called Tom, trying to let him come over as soon as possible.

But Tom's phone was turned off.

Helplessly, Jack opened the social media again to see how people would react.

"Oh my God! There is an earthquake here! It's so sudden!"

"Those who still stay in Chicago, evacuate as soon as possible. The meteorite in the sky is about to fall in Chicago!"

"I have a question. Why didn't our NASA and astronomical experts tell us in advance before we saw this meteorite fly towards the earth? Did they not discover it, or did they deliberately hide it from us?"

"This is the end of the world. Everyone is going to be judged by God. Those who have crimes, just wait to go to hell!"

"It seems that not only in the United States but also in other places, such as Australia, Japan, Russia, and other places have also suffered all kinds of natural disasters!"

"It suddenly occurred to me that when I listened to the radio in the car today, some animals and plants on the earth began to mutate. Is it the end of the world?"

Jack browsed the messages on social media.

Now some people had connected these natural disasters with the end of the world, but it was too late for them.

They didn't have enough time to prepare.

Jack turned on the computer and watched some live news.

The screen showed not only the damage all over the world but also the panic of people at this time.

Now the supermarket every place was crowded with people, and everyone began to accumulate goods to cope with the subsequent disaster.

"But it won't work!"

Jack sighed at the screen.

Because he knew that when the doomsday came, the buildings on the ground could not resist the more severe disaster at all.

In this way, Jack kept browsing the outside world before the network communication was destroyed.

Unconsciously, Jack fell asleep on the sofa.

When Jack woke up, he immediately checked the time.

It was January 1, 2022, at 8:00 a.m.

The end of the world had come.

Jack hurriedly got up and ran to the control room to open the monitor outside.

"What happened?"

Jack looked at the picture on the screen with horrified wonder.

At this time, the outside had been turned into ruins, and black smoke was everywhere as if it had just been bombarded by an atomic bomb.

Bodies could be seen everywhere.

Not just animals, but humans.

And these human bodies were all Jack's neighbors!

The situation outside was worse than Jack had expected.

To Jack's surprise, he didn't feel anything the whole night.

Was his refuge so strong that it wouldn't be affected by the disaster outside?

I hope so!

Jack picked up his phone and dialed a number. As Jack had expected, there was no signal at all.

"Bang!"

And at this moment, the screen suddenly turned black.

The camera outside should have been broken by the strong wind.

To save survival points, Jack didn't choose to upgrade the camera outside.

He installed drone reconnaissance equipment, which cost him 500 survival points.

But it was necessary for Jack.

Because this drone could not only replace the monitoring function of the cameras outside but also let Jack detect the situation in other places.

Otherwise, Jack wouldn't know what was going on outside when all the network communication was paralyzed.

Jack immediately started the reconnaissance system of the drone.

Soon a picture appeared on the computer screen in front of him.

A drone made of special materials began to fly out of the refuge.

Jack could see clearly what was happening outside.

Jack started to operate the reconnaissance drone through the computer and headed for downtown Chicago.

The speed of this drone could reach 500 kilometers per hour, which was comparable to many military drones.

Besides, the drone would last for ten hours, which was enough for Jack to finish the investigation of the whole of Chicago.

From the drone, Jack could see that Chicago was no longer the Chicago he knew.

Soon, a huge black hole suddenly appeared on the screen.

"Where is it?"

Jack knew that the crater was caused by the meteorite falling from the sky, but he didn't know where it is in Chicago.

Because all of Chicago was in ruins, Jack didn't know where it was.

But Jack suddenly saw a broken building.

"This is the John Hancock Center!"

Jack exclaimed.

Because there were only 1/3 of the huge buildings left in the picture, it was one of Chicago's most famous landmarks, the John Hancock Center!

"So that meteorite hit the downtown of Chicago?"

Jack exclaimed again.

Chicago was the third-largest city in the United States. Imagine how many people would live there.

Jack didn't dare to think anymore.

But at the same time, he began to doubt.

What about Michigan lake?

The John Hancock Center was next to Michigan lake, except for the huge crater caused by the meteorite.

He didn't see Michigan lake at all.

Jack continued to drive the drone north, trying to figure out what was going on in Michigan lake.

But Jack suddenly stopped.

"What's this?"

Jack exclaimed, staring at the screen in surprise.

In the picture taken by the drone, many grey and white objects seemed to be crawling out of the huge black hole caused by the meteorite.

Immediately Jack adjusted the drone's camera and started zooming in.

"Is this alien mutant?"
