Chapter Twelve

" This is where you will be sleeping " he told her after she stared round the room.

"Will I be sleeping here? " she asked as she turned back to him.

" And you?" Instead of just answering the question clear and understandably, he took few steps closer to her and still with his hands in his pocket. At this moment she wished she could read his mind but no, his facial expression was still as impenetrable as ever.

" We're only married on paper and in the eyes of everyone but in truth... I dont know you and I don't want to get to know. All you have to do is play your role of my wife in the eyes of everyone but in reality, don't ever try to come close to me.. So we can't share the same room... this honeymoon is just to make things look real nothing more... mind your business and I will mind mine... don't touch any of my stuffs and you won't hear from me..... understood?" he said and all she could do was just to nod gently as she began to realise that there are a lot of bitterness in that man. A man who just want to isolate his life from the world and can be heartless as to marry a woman he doesn't love just to please the world and increase his business profits. Suddenly all she had was pity for Logan Jack. He turned and left the room without saying anymore words.

" Seriously all he had to say was ' no ' I will be sleeping in another room... how hard is that? " she asked herself as she imagined him using less threatening words. "Anyways whatever " she said before she slumped on the bed and lay flat on her back.

"I'm just glad we are not sharing a room together and leaving like husband and wife... seriously I wouldn't be able to do it " she said to herself and then she sighed. Her stomach grumbled. Everywhere was already dark outside and she barely ate anything at the wedding. She was soo upset and uptight to eat and now she's deeply hungry.

" Maya can't you just hold it in? " she begged herself but her stomach made the answer 'no ' clearly by grumbling more. "Okay, I hear you " she said in a way to reply the grumbling stomach as she got up from the bed and made her way out of the room. The only problem was that she doesn't know where the kitchen is. The house was supposed to be a cabin but from within, it looks almost like a mini mansion. Before she could get lost, she saw an average looking woman carrying two shopping bags in her hands so she decided to follow her. The woman walked directly into the kitchen, she stood just right outside the kitchen watching her. She was finding it difficult to get in and she doesn't know why.

" Maya go in, make friends, eat something since Mr rude husband refused to ask you if you will eat something " she said to herself. "Hello " she said with a wide smile as she waved her hand once and walked into the kitchen, the woman turned to her, thank goodness her face was not as strict as Logan's own.

" My name is Maya Ethan... I mean Jack.. yeah Jack " She said as she raised her right hand to show her the ring with a weird smile on her lips.

" Wasn't I sounding a bit too fast? " she quietly said to herself but the woman didn't say anything, her expression still remained same as before.

" I just came to... I... well... I " she sighed when she realised she still looked the same.

" I will just take my leave " she told her defeated by her. Before she could turn and leave the woman started laughing. She was confused, the woman laughed really hard like she said something funny.

" Oh this so good " she told her as she munched on her food.

" I can see that, I know you're very very hungry. My master no do well at all... he married a beautiful lady like you and he no treat you like you deserve " Gloria told her with a Spanish accent. Her English and sentences were a bit incorrect here and there but it's okay because she's fun and nice. She reminds Maya of her mum.

" You know what Gloria, you are definitely right about that... I deserve better, right? " she asked her with a mouth full of macaroni.

" Of course you do.. Oh love.. love is a strong feeling, e dey make person blind, you love my master wey make you come marry am" Maya almost choked on her food and she began to cough.

" Oh my God, madam you dey alright? " Gloria asked worriedly after she handed her a cup of water to drink. She soothe her back as she drank.

" Oh! I forgot that the world including Gloria doesn't know of the real reason behind our marriage. This sucks" she thought in her mind.

" You dun dey alright now, madam? " Gloria asked worriedly again after she dropped the cup on the table.

" Uh - ye - yes, yeah am alright now.. I.. I.. think I'm full now.. I just need to have my bathe and have some rest then I will be okay". she told her as she stood to her feet. She has known Gloria in a short while and she won't want to lie to her.

" Thank you so much for the food you are a life saver". She told her before she gave her a hug with a smile and left to her room. She slumped on the bed and was starring at the ceiling. She was starring at nothing exactly. "Oh I think I ate too much" she told herself as she found it difficult to turn on the bed. She stood, jogged around the room for about a minute to lighten up a bit before she finally decided to go and have a bathe. She came out of the bathing room all washed up and putting on a towel with a wet hair. She headed to her box, zipped it open to take out her pyjamas but saw some strange lingeries. " Anna! you have such a naughty mind! " she exclaimed disgustingly cause she knew it was only her sister that can put such in her box as she set them aside and looked for her pyjamas. She found a baby pink pyjamas with little paw- prints on them. She got dressed, dried her hair before she finally laid on the bed staring at the ceiling.

" Okay Maya... it's time to sleep... shut your eyes and go to sleep " she told herself before she took in a deep breath and shut her eyes.

5 seconds later... she turned on the bed, then turned to the other side again and repeated the same thing before she finally hit her hands and legs on the bed frustratedly.

" I'm so bored and not sleepy... and it's your fault Mr rude husband... I have to lie all the time and can't sleep with a peaceful conscience! Well... If I'm miserable, it's only right that you should be miserable too" she said before she finally got up from the bed. She put on her red robe, floppy slippers and left the room.

" Now where is his office? She wondered to herself in a whisper as she walked around and never failed to notice the beauty of the house. Finally she noticed a door slightly open and a little light penetrating from it. She took in a deep breath and got closer. She first of all peeped in, then noticed the huge width of his office, one could think that here is one little library. She saw him where he stood in front of the shelf full of books right behind his huge table and chair. He held a book in his hands, flipping through pages and studying them so intensively. He looked so engrossed in it.

" Wait.. is he still putting on his suit?.. I'm sure, that's it " she asked herself.

He was still putting on his trouser and shirt from the wedding, his jackets was already off and thrown on the sofa, his tie hung closely loose on his neck. He turned once to take a look at something on the table then he turned back to the shelf and his look was still as cold as ever. He was totally iced out and he looked busy.. " that's good,It will be easy to frustrate him" she thought. She took in a deep breath before she walked in as courageously as possible.

" I must admit... " she started as she walked in and stopped at the front of his table. She saw him react as he rose his head up from the book in his hands.

" You've got a nice place here. " she told him as she crossed her arms and the most annoying thing to her was that she was right, the place was indeed so beautiful. He immediately shut the book in his hands that it made a loud thud before he turned.

" What are you doing here? " he asked as coldly and hateful as he could be.

" I don't know... I ask myself that question every second I spend here... seeing your face" she told him as she began to walk around taking a look at every corner.

"I couldn't really sleep since I do have a conscience, so i decided to come and pay a visit to my so-called husband who left me to myself as soon as we got here, he didn't even bother to ask; if I will take something or if am okay... at least act a little bit caring just for once... anyway that's an old talk... the truth is.." she told him as carefree as she could. She laid gently on the sofa and with her legs on top as well. She took a look at him and he still looked the same. No reaction no expression. "Maya it's not working... try something else." she quietly whispered to herself as she yawned and stretched her hands above her head, "I'm bored " she told him. He took steps forward and dropped the book in his hands on the table before walking towards her.

" Get up and leave! " He ordered as soon as he stood in front of her.
