Where do I belong?

Misha's POV

"Can I start now?", I finally shouted at Tatiana so she could hear me, tapping my right foot with my hands on my waist. I have waited for maybe around 10 minutes already.

"A little impatient are we?", Tatiana said and chuckled through the speakers installed outside the small room. I sighed and turned my back on her again.

"Why does she never fail to make me irritated?!!", I grumbled.

"You know that we can hear you clearly right? Hahahaha", she said and laughed so hard. I saw Lara and Mr. Knight trying to hold their laughter.

'It's impossible! They are locked up inside that small room and I am far from them!', I thought to myself.

"You're just making things up", I said and raised my left brow with my arms crossed, shifting my gravity to my left leg.

"Am I making things up Mr. Knight?", she asked the principal while mockingly smiling at me.

"Ehem. Just uhhh, don't raise your voice when you speak Ms. Misha. There's a microphone installed on the goggles you are wearing. Please do that little favor for us." He informed me through the microphone inside the small room that is connected to the speakers outside.

"Yeah! I agree with that! Our ears were bleeding from the last time you shouted about your impatience", she said smirked at me.

'WHAAAAAAAAT???!', I mentally screamed and covered my face from the embarrassing situation I am in right now.

"I AM SO SORRY MR. KNIGHT!", I apologized and clasped hands on my forehead. I heard a screeching sound from the speakers which made them grimace and really cover their ears now.

"Oh my! I'm sorry, again", I whispered the second time around.

'I feel so stupid right now! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!', I thought to myself while repeatedly hitting my head.

"Ms. Misha. Please stop what you are doing right now. We need to start the test", Mr. Knight interrupted and did a hand gesture for me to start.

"Sure Mr. Knight", I turned around to face the 1st crystal and took a deep breath before touching it.

"If you can't handle the lights coming from it, please close your eyes. We'll just inform you when to go to the next crystal", Tatiana said through the speakers. I really don't mind staring at these spectacles shine in front of me. I was waiting for the lights to come out, but there was nothing.

"I can't see any light coming out from this one", I told them.

"Tsk. Just shut up and focus", Tatiana said clearly annoyed from what I'm doing.

"Sheesh! You don't need to get mad", I told her and closed my eyes. I was doing my best to concentrate, but I also want to see them glow, so I took a peek.

"There's none", I said with a sad voice and let go of the crystal.

"Alright, we're going to do this again. You don't need to look at them every now and then. Just focus on your breathing. We will let you see a footage of your test afterwards so don't worry." Mr. Knight instructed.

"I'm sorry. I will do it properly now", I assured them and I went back to touch the 1st crystal and then closed my eyes.

'Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out', I kept on repeating it in my head. Even though my eyes were closed, I still noticed that my vision became brighter.

'Oh my! It worked!', I thought to myself.

"Ms. Misha, we are done with the 1st test, let's move on to the next one", Mr. Knight told through the speakers.

"Sure thing Mr. Knight", I smiled and skipped my way towards the 2nd crystal.

"You may now begin", he said. I did what he told and did the same thing.

'It worked again!', I excitedly said in my mind.

"Now please go to your last test", Mr. Knight said.

"This is the one that determine if a person has powers right?", I asked. I felt excited and nervous at the same time.

"Yes, it is. You may be a little nervous for this one, as any other student before trying it. I just need you to keep in mind, that with powers or not, you are still you. Don't let the result change how you see yourself. Stay humble if you have one, and continue to love yourself if you don't.", the wise principal advised.

"Thank you Mr. Knight. I needed that", I told him and went nearer to the 3rd crystal. I touched it and I really meditated and focused only on my breathing. I felt the crystal slowly became warm.

'This feels nice', I thought to myself. I was enjoying the feeling, until, it started to become warmer and warmer by the second.

"It's getting warmer by the second!", I raised my voice from the pain that I was feeling. I don't have tolerance to heat so I am having a hard time to focus on the test.

"Misha! Focus!", All of them shouted through the speakers.

'All of them are waiting for me and I don't want to repeat this test again!', I told myself and kept on holding on to the crystal even though it hurts so much, it felt like I was holding a hot pot without a glove. It burns!.

"AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!", I screamed at the top of my lungs from the excruciating pain.

"STOP!!!", Mr. Knight shouted with his voice echoing inside. As he said that, I immediately let go of the hot object and rolled off to the side still screaming.

"Misha!!!!!! Don't move! Let me see!", Lara shouted as she came running towards me.

I was trying my best to hold my voice in so tears fell instead. Mr. Knight held my trembling arms and saw that my palms are burnt.

"Tatiana! Call the medics to come now!", Mr. Knight said and Tatiana ran to the little room to get to the phone. Lara hugged me to calm me down but I can't. I still have labored breathing and I can't keep still. After a few minutes I saw four people carrying a modern-looking white oval shaped casket and walking fast towards me. My eyes went wide when I saw it.

"Am I going to die?!", I asked them and slowly pushing my body far away from them using my feet.

"We are just going to place you to this healing chamber so please cooperate with us.", they said and carefully lifted me up and placed me inside that oval-looking casket.

"See you in a few hours Ms. Misha, please don't struggle or try to go out of this chamber, it will be locked anyways so you'll just waste your energy and healing time by doing that", one of the medics said.

"How many hours am I going to stay inside sir?", I asked.

"Two hours and a half", he said and smiled at me.

"Can I watch over her Mr. Knight?", Lara asked him.

"Sure, but only after you've finished your test", the principal responded. I saw Lara and Tatiana's worried face before the medics closed the chamber. I felt cold air going inside the chamber and the more I inhale it, the more I calmed down.

"This is strangely relaxing.", I whispered to myself before slowly dozing off.
