112 A-Wrong-Turn (III)

"How did you know that I was from another world?" The older Daphne asked curiously after she finally regained her bearings. She could already hazard a guess and she was pretty sure that she was right, but she simply wanted to make sure.

"You weren't the only one watching someone else's memories" The younger Daphne grumbled. Then she stared at older Daphne with a look of concern on her face. "Are you sure you are alright? How are you even sane?" The younger Daphne asked warily.

The older Daphne cackled at that question, surprising the younger one. "You aren't the only one to ask me that question and my answer will always be the same…" The older Daphne trailed off with a toothy grin. "Who says I am sane?" She grinned, making the younger Daphne even more uncomfortable than before.

The older Daphne was a bit annoyed over the fact that the younger Daphne got to watch her memories, but she decided not to make an issue of it… After all, turnabout is fair play.

"So, what now?" The older Daphne asked with a scowl… She could once again attack the younger Daphne, but for whatever reason, she felt it won't be necessary anymore.

"Well… I am already disappearing" The younger said sullenly as she looked down at her hands, which were no longer completely opaque. The older Daphne looked at her with a bit of disbelief on her face… "Your Will, Mind, and Magic are much stronger than mine" The younger Daphne shrugged her shoulders with a shrug, but it was clear that she was barely restraining herself from crying.

"Look… I am sorry…" The older Daphne tried to apologize, but the heated glare from younger Daphne's tear-filled eyes brought her to a screeching halt.

"Save it!!" The younger Daphne snapped at the older one… She felt bad for the older Daphne. She had seen the memories, so she knew that her life was really hard, but that didn't mean that she would simply roll over and die…. She was only 14 years old. There was so much she hadn't seen… There was so much she never experienced… She wanted to live a long life and die of old age.

Alas… Here she was, slowly fading away… So, she decided that her anger was justified… While younger Daphne was hatefully glaring at her older self, her older self was simply looking down at her feet… No matter what excuse she made, the older Daphne knew that she could never make it up to her younger self.

After a couple of minutes of complete silence, the younger Daphne shuffled uncomfortably on her feet… "You aren't going to let what happened in your world happen in my world, are you?" She asked carefully, she always carried herself with pride and confidence, but the survival of her sister and her family was more important to her.

"...To be honest, I don't know how to kill the Dark Lord… As you saw in my memories, the only ones who knew how to kill the man died before they could achieve anything, but I promise that I will do my best to protect them" The older Daphne vowed with a determined look on her face. She owed at least that much to her younger self and she traveled back in time to stop such things from happening in the first place.

Alas, knew that she couldn't face the Dark Lord… The man was way beyond her capabilities, but he was only a man. He didn't take over the Wizarding World on his own. He had help… There were several Death Eaters or Death Eater sympathizers who made it possible for him to take over Wizarding Britain and at the same time, take over Muggle World.

"Though, there is something I can still do for you" The older Daphne said slowly. She wasn't sure if this would work or not as her Ritual has already gone sideways, but it was at least worth a shot… It was a huge risk on her part, but she realized that she was far too jaded and bitter to act normally around her family. She didn't want to raise unnecessary questions.

The younger Daphne seemed to perk up in interest at those words, so the older Daphne decided to carry on with her explanation… "I already knew that I would end up inside my younger body, so I always wondered what would happen to my younger self. That was why I had to come up with a way to merge with my younger self in case I couldn't maintain my conscience anymore on my own" The older Daphne explained.

"Now, before you decide anything… I want to tell you that I am not sure if this would work as it is supposed to or not as you already know that the Ritual didn't work properly… Instead of traveling back in time, I ended up in a completely different timeline and world. So, think carefully…" The older Daphne finally finished her explanation.

The younger Daphne seemed to ponder her options for a bit before she finally nodded her head in consent… It wasn't like she had any other options. For survival, if she needed to merge with her older self then that was exactly what she was going to do… "Alright! What do I need to do?" She asked curiously, looking somewhat unsure.

"You don't need to do much… You simply need to hold out your hand and I will take care of everything else…" The older Daphne said as she stepped forward and extended her hand toward her younger self. The younger Daphne still remembered how viciously the old Daphne had attacked her, so she stared at the hand in trepidation for the next couple of seconds before she finally accepted the offered limb, but her eyes grew wide in fear when the older Daphne yanked her forward.

The younger Daphne closed her eyes, expecting pain, but she felt something touch her forehead… She slowly opened her eyes to see what was exactly happening… A comforting feeling enveloped her body as she found her forehead touching with older Daphne's while she was being tightly hugged by older Daphne… The younger Daphne didn't know why, but she felt really comfortable in older Daphne's arms, so she simply decided to close her eyes and savor the feeling.

Then all of a sudden, a spike of pain lanced through her mind, but before she could scream or do anything else, her whole world turned completely white…

<Line Break> (Sometime later)

The next time Daphne opened her eyes, she found a bit of sunlight filtering inside the room. It had worked… From what she could feel, the merging has worked… She could feel the familial bond her younger self had with her family members. Now she wasn't going to make a mess of herself while interacting with them… Daphne grabbed her Wand from the nightstand and she immediately grimaced…

The connection between herself and this Wand wasn't as strong as the bond she had with her own Wand in her own timeline. The Wand was the same, but the Wand she used had grown with her throughout the years, but this Wand was still new and unused compared to her own Wand. Daphne realized that she was going to miss her Wand and while the bond between herself and this Wand wasn't that strong, she could still get used to this…

She quickly removed the duvet and climbed down off her bed… She felt a cold breeze on her body and grimaced. She was dressed in a thin pair of pajamas and in her timeline, she used to sleep with her body armor still on… She would need some time to get used to this. Shaking her head she made her way toward the table… If she wanted to make a difference in this world, then she needed to start making preparations…

She pulled out a notepad and grabbed a quill from the stand before finally sitting down… According to the memories of younger Daphne, she was about to start her fourth year, which meant that the Triwizard Tournament was going to take place this year and the Dark Lord would finally regain his body at the end of the Triwizard Tournament, next year…

She dipped the quill in the inkpot and started to write down what she needed to do to change the future…

1- Get this weak body up to the mark

Her current body was frail and weak… She needed to fix that and she already had a few Rituals in her mind to achieve that…

2- Stop the Dark Lord from regaining his body

She scribbled down before quickly crossing the option. There were a couple of problems with this option. First of all, she had no idea how the Dark Lord regained his body or where he achieved that… So, she couldn't do anything to stop him from regaining his body…

3- Kill Lucius Malfoy

Lucius Malfoy was responsible for manipulating Cornelius Fudge and weakening the Ministry from the inside so that the Dark Lord could easily take over the Ministry. She knew she could kill the man, but she wasn't ready yet… With her current body, an assassination was out of option as she simply wasn't fit enough to break into the Malfoy manor.

4- Kill Draco Malfoy

Draco Malfoy was responsible for a lot of horrible things, but Daphne hated him with a passion for framing her family. Apparently, he was the one who was passing information to the resistance, but he had framed her family to save his own arse… He would most definitely die, but once again, she wasn't ready to kill him.

5- Kill Severus Snape

The man had backed up Draco when that little shite had framed her family and he had also helped the Death Eaters to break into Hogwarts, which led to the fall of Hogwarts and Albus Dumbledore, but unfortunately, she couldn't kill that bastard any time soon. Killing him would send Dumbledore into a tizzy and he would leave no stone unturned to discover the killer. With a scowl on her face, she crossed the name from the list.

6- Kill Dolores Umbridge

Dolores Umbridge was probably the easiest target on the list even though killing her would send Cornelius into a tizzy, but the man was incompetent as fuck and the bitch wasn't liked by anyone even by her fellow Pureblood fanatics, so there was a very small chance that anyone would try that hard to investigate her murder… The woman was responsible for creating the most horrible laws after the Dark Lord took over the Ministry.

A feral grin formed on Daphne's face… Yeah… Dolores Umbridge was going to be the first casualty of the upcoming War and her death wasn't going to be quick or easy, Daphne decided… After all, Daphne had a lot of pent-up anger to deal with…
