Chapter 23

“You’re the one to talk,” Lacy said as she walked up to Tim on the school’s lawn. “After I dropped you off last night I still crammed for about five hours. Have you spoken to Charlie?”

He was worried about Charlie, he admitted that, but he was also annoyed. With everything else going on, he felt bad for not reaching out properly to Charlie yet, but he was tired of seeing his friend hit his head against the same wall. Eventually you have to face your shit and just man the hell up, as he learned last night. No one can be such a sucker for goddamn punishment.

“Not yet, and I’m worried about him. Besides all of this, we still have our final exams looming and we should be in the zone,” he said.

“Well, at least you’re thinking about me,” Charlie said and sat down next to him on the grass.

Tim sighed theatrically, but he was relieved all the same.

“What is it with you and these lightning mood changes, Charlie?” he asked.
