Magic Failed?

With expectations in my heart, I think back to some of the anime where the character had to recite to cast spells.

"Spirit of Fire – Give me a fire to burn my enemy! Ha!"

After all that expectation, nothing happened but unfortunately a person just happened to walked back and was walking away from me. However, with my enhanced hearing, I could hear him giggling and even muttering to himself "What a guy, still having eighth-grade syndrome at his age."

Feeling humiliated, I decided to head further into the park to hide my embarrassment in the case I failed. I also made sure to avoid place with any cameras. Although I had failed in the first attempt, I was lucky that I had failed. Had I succeeded, the person from just now would have seen me and I would be in a dilemma since I did not know how to erase memory other than taking my chance with multiple hard blows to the head.

Using my new found ability of the elf body, I was now able to enter to places in the park that were previously deemed unsafe to travel to for reasons such as getting lost in the maze of trees or that the environment was unsuitable for travelling.

This time, I ensured that there was no one in the area and there was no close-circuit television that would monitor me before I tried the second method of casting magic which was by the method of imagination. Using my imagination, I tried to imagine a fireball shooting out from my hand and yelled, "Fireball!"

This time, I felt something change. As compared to the first time, I felt the mana moving and gathering in my body. I was delighted that I was about to do something that was considered a fairy tale in society.

However, contrary to my enthusiasm, the result was disappointing. The mana in my body just remained stagnant in my body and no fireball appeared and I was like a complete idiot standing in the forest with my hands pointing to my front. I could not help but to sit on the floor, thinking hard about what when wrong during my attempt at casting the magic.
