Valerie step forward and grabbed the attention of all vampires in the room.

"As I have said before, we need to work with her to survive the upcoming calamity that I foresaw with my power. And I assure you all that she wouldn't betray us"

A vampire turned towards me.

"And how exactly can we trust her?"

From our previous conversation, Valerie said that the Veit clan, the vampires thinks that she is a rare case where a vampire would awaken two different abilities. The first one is mind control and the second one is foresight.

It is quite handy that that rule actually exist to begin with.

"I saw a future where everyone was celebrating after the great calamity along with her. Is that not enough for you?"

"No, our clan's people are at stake"

This guy... he has this dewy red eyes, this shitty personality and this sense of responsibility to protect the last vampire clan in the world... It is definitely him.

"Listen well, I only came here to negotiate with you all. In return for your services, I promised shelter, protection, and food to you all"

"As if a young girl can do that"

An old vampire scoff at my words.

"What if I told you that I am the second most influential individual in the kingdom. The queen's death, the disappearance of the corrupt nobles and the flow of the economy. I can change the flow of right about anything in this kingdom if I wanted to"

"Is that a threat?!"

"It is assurance. Assurance that I have the ability to do as I said. So no, it is not a threat. Besides, blackmailing the wrong people are bound to kill me"

"The wrong people?"

"Yes. I don't blackmail those who are up to my standards"

A woman tossed the table from across the room which nearly grazed my cheek. Blood started to flow out from the wound.

The vampires' eyes glowed red as if they were tempted to drink my blood.

"You are no different from other humans. You are not even supposed to be alive if it wasn't for big sis"

This tomboyish attitude and that manner of speaking... its her, huh.

"My standards are those who don't care about the law and hurt other, innocent people. Obviously, I don't do dirty work to earn some few coins since I am already rich to begin with"

I took a handkerchief and wipe the blood on my cheek before it could even stain my dress. The knights upstairs would go ballistic if they see this.

"If so, who are those that you blackmail?"

"Obviously, it would be the corrupt nobles. I kill most of them though since I also have to feed my spirit"

"A spirit that eats humans? How disgusting!"

I don't want to hear that from you since you eat everything in a human's corpse based on the novel. And I am sure you would do that if the situation arises.

"First of all, I would like to introduce myself: I am Averie Veit. Now gong back to topic, I assume your way of feeding us with blood that we need is by giving us the rotten people, correct?"

"That is indeed correct"

"Then that would mean our work would also be to apprehend such people"

"Yes, that is also correct"

"If so, what makes you so sure that we won't betray you after getting information from someone who can give us so much more. As you know, we could have work with the Krugers and annihilate those they don't like and drink their blood. Why should we work under you?"

"As I said, I promise shelter, protection and food to you all. Whether you betray me is up to you all. Know that, if I die, Valerie will also die"

Another barrage of attacks came flying to me. But this time, Valerie and her two siblings were the ones who protected me.

"You say that if you die, one of us will also die?! Hah?! If that is not a threat, then I don't know what is!!!"

The rules that were shown to me and other fellow transmigrators is puzzling at first. But, the activation of the rules are set. If one of us died before the rules activates, all of us will also die. Meaning, we would only survive if all of us make it through until the gates of hell closes.

Seeing Valerie's expression as if she was ready to put her life on the line to protect me, the other vampires were frozen in place. Her siblings on the other hand were spacing out. The though of killing me earlier vanish as soon as they heard from Valerie's mouth that she will die as well if they were to kill me.

"Why did you not told us sooner?"

"Because I knew you wouldn't believe me"

Out of anger, the tomboyish vampire punched herself. Whether it was out of spite at herself for the thought of almost killing her sister or someone unknown reason, what I can say is that I can't believe that this girl would be the magician's future wife.

In the novel, Penelope was described as rough in her younger age but became the most feminine woman in the entire story when she fell in love.

Of course, the magician preferred the tomboyish side of her which is one of the main reason why they got along so well together.

"So this is the reason why you were so confident about coming here alone"

"Lady Averie, I am not alone. I have my companion with me"

Hearing my words filled with confidence, she giggled as she found me amusing.

"I am Xavier Veit, younger brother of big sis Val, and I apologize in behalf of my clan's rudeness towards you"

"No need to apologize. Your behavior towards me was reasonable"

The vampire who nearly hit me with a table by throwing it towards me, walk towards me after getting her ear pinch by her older sister.

"The name's Penelope. Bitch"

How does she know that word?

She extended her hand and place it near my cheek with a wound. Green light emanated from her hands which then healed my wound.

"There. Good as new"

A minute later, they organized the room and a huge rectangular table was set in the middle of the room.

"Here are my conditions for the Veit clan"

1.) Those who will immigrate to Dianna Emond's town will be given land and houses for free.

2.) The vampires that immigrates to the town will be exempted from tax but will still earn monthly payment of ten to fifty silver coins a month depending on the amount of work that has been accomplish.

3.) At least a barrel's worth of blood will be given to the vampire clan on a weekly basis. If there are more 'people' at hand, the amount will also increase.

4.) The vampires are absolutely not allowed to kill anyone without permission. Depending on the situation, killing must be the last resort in such situations.

5.) The vampire clan will be held responsible for the safety of the town at night.

The four siblings who are the children of the current chief and the elders all red the contents of the paper thoroughly as I ate the food they gave me with a carefree expression.

"You want us to be vigilantes?"

"A secret tactical unit to be more exact"

"Vampires only loses their power when expose to sunlight. We can work normally at the day as long as we are under the shade. I don't think that exempting us from tax would beneficial to you"

"As I have said before, I will provide shelter, protection and food to you all. That would also mean I will spoil all of you to the best as I can. After all, I am sure that you all would return the favor"

"Is it a way to ensure we won't betray you?"

"No. If you want, betray me, go ahead. I do not care since I am not the only who will die if you decided to kill me. I am merely employing you all for my future plans. Give and take. You all help me, I help you all. Simple, right"

"That arrogance of yours will be the death of you"

"It is not arrogance but confidence. I believe that you all won't betray me as long as I do my part correctly"

"Please give us some time to think about it"

I left the room and went upstairs back to the knights.
