Chapter 11: Meeting People 2

Honey find Cody's sister gaze uncomfortable. Cody excuse himself to go to the toilet and remind his sister to help her make their grandma's milk. She doesn't seem to comprehend....

It's just a milk but what's the need of a helper?!

Before she could complain, he's gone.

What they agreed upon is to deliver her baked goods...

"Uhm.. Giya, right? What cup is your Grandma's using? Your brother said that to use it." She asked while scanning the shelves. Geez, hopefully she won't break anything!

"Upper left, then right." Giya instructed and she followed the direction. A big cup that looks like the design is customized. It's flowers.

"Is this it?" Honey asked and get a spoon too. Giya's eyes widened on what she had done.

"You. You dig it right! " She said and clapped.

"Ha?" Honey wondered.

"You know, usually, 'my brother's exes whom he brought here, simple instructions they don't get it." Giya explain nonchalantly.

Honey nodded, "That's how usually in restaurants that's why I'm used to it. Wait– this milk that we bought, right? How many scoops? Three or four?" "

Instead of responding, it only signaled four to the finger.

"Wait... RESTAURANT? Are you a chef?!" She was shocked to Giya's sudden shrieks. She shook her head as 'no'.

"I was a waitress. To be exact, chief waitress. Then, as days gone by, I was also promoted." She still awkwardly answered before putting four scoops of milk. Because it is still noon, Honey calculates the warm of the drink.

"Are you done?" Cody popped out from their backs where the door is.

"Ahh, yes. Here's the milk." Honey handed the milk with saucer underneath go to Cody, which he accepts. "Giya, get the other red box." He commanded his sister.

"Aye, aye! Brother!"

"Honey... Is it okay if you bring Grandma's lunch?" Honey nodded and get the lunch.

It feels like I'm their housemaid not their guest!

Going to the old woman's room Cody was ahead of them. Subsequently, the sister slowed down and accompanied Honey.

"I'm sorry, Sis... My dream is to be a chef but the case is I have no future in cooking. Mom always drives me away because I make her kitchen looks like a storm roamed in. " Giya tells like a child. Well, she was younger compared to Honey.

"Do you want to teach you?" Honey asked which makes Giya's eyes widened. She couldn't help but laugh at her reaction.

"Really, sis?"

"Ahmm, my boss is coming home so it might take a while. Is that okay with you? "

"Yes! Just call or text me! Wait! Later, sister! " Giya says as she remembers her cellphone is not inside her pocket.

Upon entering the old woman's room, Honey was hit by shame. Why is she here? She's not a relative, eh.

He lowered the tray to the side table next to the old woman's bed. Cody helped her who sitting nearby.

"'Grandma, eat up. I'm here. " Cody ordered that makes the old woman to laugh. When the old woman man found out that her first grandchild would visit her, she wanted to go home and just wait for him at home.

"Yes, grandson. What are those foods? " Asked the old woman on the food on the tray. Honey lower her head reluctant to be blown away by the fact that she was caught looking.

"I cooked it with Honey, Grandma. You must taste it! She always mad at me when I eat her cooked while still she's not yet done!' Cody boasts it while smiling. He doesn't know how and why he wants to boasts of Honey in his family.

"Honey? Your girlfriend?" The old woman's confusingly says and look at Honey. Honey lower her head more.

"Duh! Grandma really! But if you're having girlfriend, Kuya... It should be Honey! " Giya said and embraced Honey. "There, sis. I'm helps you to be welcome at home. So you should be with my brother. " Whispered it.

"That's too much, Giya. Hehe. " Honey whispered as well.

"No, Grandma. My friend, Percy was on a business trip and he asked me to look after Honey –aw! Why did you hit me on the back?! " Cody complain as the old woman hit his back

"When did you learn to snatch your friend's girlfriend, Cody?!"

"I didn't kidnap her! Are you gonna eat, Grandma? Or, am I leaving early? " He answered shouting to answer his Grandma's questioning.

"Seriously, you cook delicious, hija!" The old man said he immediately looked up to eat.

Honey just smiled that the old woman looks fine. The young man's concern for his Grandma still vivid in her mind.

"Slowly, Grandma. You might have indigestion these cupcakes are delicious." Giya's mouth was full. One piece reduced the box. The old woman's eyes seemed to glow at what her grandchild said.

"Cupcakes?!"

"Yup. So, just slowly. If not, Giya will finish it. "

"Hey, Giya! Leave some for Grandma! " It was about to snatch the box from Giya when Honey get in between.

"There are 4 boxes. There's more downstairs."

"Look at her, Honey knows you need to add an extra!" And she was approached by the old woman and kissed her face. It even has oil on its lips from the pochero she's eating.

"Grandma! She's a mess now! "

"No, sorry!"

"It's okay. I'll just wash it. Where is the bathroom? "

"Show her, Giya. After Grandma's done eating, I'll take you home. " Honey just nodded to Cody.

When they got out of the room, she was taken to her room. They did not return to the old woman's room and went to the kitchen to eat.

And they had just found Jonas and Tony eating cupcakes. Jonas immediately lowered the cupcake that was eaten when he saw his nephew and Honey.

"Do you need something, Giya?" Tony asked because he went and took something from the refrigerator.

"Juice, Kuya Tony. If you could, can you put cupcakes for us in a saucer." Giya get two glasses and put it on a tray.

"No need, Tony! While cooking I also ate a lot." Honey gestures saying no.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Then put 3 cupcakes!" Giya remind him

Honey can't look at Manley because she didn't find it awkwardly, but the fact that they were uncle-nephew with Cody. Cody warned her that he was there. That's when they arrived, though she see him in the corner of her eyes, she didn't pay heed. She's not excited to see him anymore, even smile.

"Here, Honey. Your skills didn't seem to fade any moment! If you're thinking of having a business, make sure there's cakes and cupcakes, huh?" Honey can't help but laugh to Tony's praises.

"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind." She followed Giya who's already in the garden.

Tony look at his friend, and patted him, "You can breathe now, Jonas!" And automatically his breathing seems to fine.

"Is she together with Cody?"

"You really asking that, Jonah?" Tony couldn't believe his friend's question.

"Did I say something? I said it's great they came!" Then he took a bite the cupcake in front of him.

"You know, Jonas... I don't understand you. You find her disgusting before, and now? You act like an ex that wants to reconcile! May I remind you that next year you will be married. "

His shoulder dropped to what his friend had said. That's right. He find her disgusting and now? He seems to want a come back even though he has never really been.

"Hello? I'm here now, Jenny! Hey! Spill it!" Honey flicked on her forehead. They both been busy these few days and few weeks from now on and it's Jenny birthday. They're just had the opportunity to talk now and be together for a long time.

"But... You'll gonna scold me! " Jenny yield because when she told her the truth, she would probably not be able to celebrate her birthday.

"I don't know yet, and you predicted? You're shameless! " This is a very funny answer.

"Eh…"

"What?! Tell me something! "

"Yes, it's like this..."

I just got home and heard Honey's voice. I was smiling because somehow she was no longer like the previous job because of helping her nephew. It had a bone fractured on his feet, they rushed him to the hospital.

I held my stomach and I'm hungry. There were a lot of customers lately so we didn't use a break a lot. When it closed, I went ahead because I didn't want to ride tricycle going home. The fare is so expensive this time of the night. I'm saving because I intend to have a feast with Honey. Even together with Tita Karie and Sandy.

I took a cup noodles to the cabinet and went across. Tita was still awake.

"Oh, and it's your turn now?" Tita Karie pointed in my cup noodles.

"Not at all. Just for tonight. I want to get to the last trip of jeep so I wasn't able to eat anymore. "

"Here, there is still some leftover chayote. I'm going to sleep, lock the door, Jenny. "

"Yes."

I would have done nothing but eat proper meal because I didn't want to be as nasty as Honey. While I was eating, I was surprised to the person who open the door.

"Tita Karie– Jenny?"

"Percy?" I wonder, because I know he's going to arrive tomorrow.

"Of all the people who can caught me... why you?" Percy laughed and sat down opposite me. "Can I have some? I haven't eaten anything yet." I looked at him and his stomach growl.

"Hahahaha! Wait a minute, I'll just gonna put water to cup noodles so you'll sip the broth."

While we were eating, he glanced at me. Maybe he's worried about Honey. I don't know about these two, they have chemistry.

"If you're worrying about Honey, she's fine. She's snoring now at our room." I said that makes him grin.

"You, how are you? I saw the post of your… your ex. Did you reconcile?" He couldn't even look at me straight.

I was startled and didn't know what to say.

"Don't answer! It's because of Honey! Just leave the plates there. I'm going to wash it."

He was leaving when I spoke.

"He wanted to reconcile, but I didn't agreed." As I look back, he is gone.

I don't know why I feel so heavy all of a sudden.

"He said that last night? *whistle" Honey's rejoicing after Jenny's story . "My bet is improving!"

"Honey, stop! Did you know I didn't sleep because of that?!" Jenny yelled at her friend who just laughed at her.

Honey put her hand in Jenny's left shoulder and pretended to be smoking the cream stick she had bought and emitted as if smoke will come out of her mouth.

"Mah fwend, I gave him all the cards I have."

Jenny wondered, "When did you learn to gamble?"

"I'm not into gambling! I am actually a fairy godfriend!" Honey defend in American accent. Just a second ago, British accent.

"Insane!"

"Am not."

"Was it 'I'm not'?"

"Am not because bisaya jud! Hahahaha!"

Jenny literally caught his face in both hands in her friend's madness. And when Honey's mood so strong, she can't talk to her sanely.

"But seriously, Jenny. Didn't you like or even just any crush for Percy? He is handsome, capable, has a stable job and most of all! No strings attached, not like anyone else!" Honey sings like the TV commercial in the last sentence.

"Nope."

"Even 0.00000001%?"

"Never. You're right in your description, but nothing." She admits.

Honey rubbed her fingers on her chin as if thinking. As if there was a foolish play in her mind. But the truth is, she doesn't want Jenny to go back to Mark.

Not that he didn't want the young man for Jenny because he had a child, but she didn't want to see her friend cry for repeated reasons.

And that is, in the end, it wasn't Jenny who will he choose.
