CHAPTER 35: CURSE (1)

"Is Telestal okay?" I ask the Valkyrie but she doesn't seem too eager on answering. She makes an angry face for a minute before finally opening her mouth.

"He is okay. He is already able to compensate for his lost arm. And he is also getting married to the Valkyrie of War, just like they wanted."

"Oh!!" That's one good news there. So they manage to handle the king then. It's true that I don't remember seeing him at the trial. He would have certainly made things difficult as well if he was there.

"Is that all you want to ask?"

"Is there anything else I should ask? He was the one who welcomed me here so it is normal I would ask about his well-being."

"So, the situation of the heroes doesn't matter to you?" She puts her hand on her sword as she says that.

"Not really. But you guys are kind so I am sure they are okay." I also assume the first stance of the dance of fire and flames covers my body.

"I see. I am the Valkyrie of justice. It is my duty to bring down its hammer onto people who have committed crimes."

She unsheathes her sword and right after the blue and gold sword is revealed, her aura comes in as well. A purple aura that fills the place where we are. The knights and people with her all do the same. It is an intimidating sight if I am to say the truth. So many people with their hatred directed at you aren't something I have faced every day. David and his group were only full of fear and hatred at their own life but this…all this hatred is directed at me.

"You have an idea of what a commander of the demon army faces every time now." Warren walks to me and releases his aura. A blue one that is on par with the Valkyrie of justice.

"I am not aiming to become a commander so I could have lived without this experience."

"Try not to kill them though." He smiles at me then looks at the Valkyrie of justice.

"What? Hey, I am the one fighting her. You take care of the small fries."

"You aren't experienced enough to fight her."

"Oh? You want to bet. I can beat her in five minutes top. If I don't. I am the one hunting for the next three weeks."

"Hm…" Warren looks at me then at the Valkyrie. He does that alternatively for almost a minute until finally, she explodes with rage.

"Do I look that weak to you?!!"

She pounces on him first. In a single jump, she reaches him even though they were almost ten meters apart. No, maybe even more. But Warren jumps to the side, to a soldier observing the situation

"Five minutes. Top." You bet it.

"You arrogant shits!!" Without losing focus, the Valkyrie changes her aim and slashes at me with a powerful downward strike. It cuts through the air and when I dodge it, I have a familiar feeling coming from it.

"Wait." Now that I think about it, his aura was purple as well, right? "Oh, hell yeah!!"

I release my first attack and she dodges it. While I use the second stance, she thrusts her sword but we manage to counter each other, a fire explosion occurs behind me. It creates a small shockwave that even pushes the valkyrie backward a bit.

"No!!"

"Don't attack!! Let me take care of him and take care of the other one!"

It seems someone tried to make a sneak attack on me. I look to the sides and I already have three guys on the ground, their arms encased in ice. Damn, I am wasting time here.

I go with the third stance and the Valkyrie dodges it as well. The fourth one follows and she blocks it with her sword. A sound of a spark gets to my ears then she receives a lightning bolt.

"Gyaaa!!!" She screams loudly in pain but still, she manages to jump out of it. Her hair is messed up though. That and her face are now showing some bruises. She must have used her aura to the fullest to get out of it. She lands on the back then regains her balance rapidly but stays kneeled.

"You still want to continue." Since I can't control how those happen, I wouldn't want to kill you and then get scolded for nothing. But surely, you won't just give up easily, will you?

"Fuuu…" She tries to stabilize her breathing for a few seconds then stands back up and raises her sword. "Do not underestimate me."

"I am not. I just don't want to kill you."

"Was it the same with the man whose armor you are wearing?"

"No, sadly, I was still having trouble controlling my powers, and he…" Can I really tell her that he was related to their god? She will probably not understand, I think.

"All of these are just excuses anyway. You have a man I trained in the past. Like his mentor, it is my duty to avenge him."

She stands back up then her aura starts gathering around her sword. He has shown me something similar once.

"Meteor sword, huh…" II don't think he ever unleashed it though. I wonder how powerful it actually is.

"Telestal really taught you well." She manages to show a little smile before her sword shines purple very brightly. So brightly it almost blinds me.

I was still on a stance so I prepare to receive her. As I do, wind starts stirring around her. The leaves and branches are shaking greatly.

"Are you sure you want to take that head-on?" Warren seems to know this technique?

"There is only one way to know, right?!" I scream at him without looking and the next moment, the Valkyrie lowers her sword and a storm sweeps everything in front of her.

I kick the air, and the shock created blends with her storm and it brutally pushes me backward. I knock my back on a tree, then another, and I am projected in the air. There are trees' branches everywhere around me. I feel dizzy as well.

"It's not finished!!" I hear the Valkyrie's voice before me and the sound of her sword coming is too fast to block.

"And it can't be that easy, right?!" I dodge her attack and punch her but she grabs my flaming fist and kicks me hard, sending me to the ground.

I manage to regain my balance before landing but when I land, the scenery has changed. There are houses nearby and a few people are even gathered. Shit, she managed to push all the way to the village with that strike.

"I was careless indeed. Wha-"

I suddenly feel a presence behind me but before I can turn around.

"What the hell…"

I turn around to see what caused this and there is a girl holding my hand. Her silver, almost white hair flew around. Her eyes are of the same color, could it be that she is blind? She is as beautiful as Sarah. As beautiful as Sarah, as beautiful…my mind starts drifting apart and all I can see are clouds in the sky. I feel really happy right now. I wonder, have I ever felt that happy before in my life? This bliss, how come I never knew of it before?

"Hey!! Our fight isn't ov…" The voice of the Valkyrie brings me back to reason. But when I come back, I am on top of that girl, immobilizing her on the ground.

"Shit."

"You disgusting pervert!!!" The Valkyrie's voice resounds full of rage and right when I jump out of the way, her sword flies by. Then her fist appears and I manage to block it. Though she sends me flying to a nearby building. I slam my back against a wall and land on the ground.

"Argh!!" How?! Why does it hurt…Damn, it must be the effect of that curse!!

"Gyaa!!" Though my ears are ringing, I can hear the girl screaming in pain as well. What kind of twisted curse is that, goddammit!!
