War

The thought of war turned my blood ice cold. What will happen? Will it be a long, bloody war? Who will win? My head started to spin with questions when Clarita put her hand on my shoulder and told me to go back up to my room.

I trudged back to my room and locked the door behind me, not to sulk, but to plan. This was no time for sulking, war was upon us. It's time to plan ahead for the future, short amounts of food, debt, and death were going to happen if this all went down south and I was in no mood to just let it happen.

I sat at my desk and started doing my reasearch, I read books, did reasearch, and took notes. The Capital of our country had 100,000 people alone, all together in our country we had a population of 1,050,000 people, mostly children.

Only 25% of our population are farmers, and only 15% of farmers actually sold their crops and animals. In order to feed every citizen we'll have to start rations. No one will like it but it must be done, and quickly. Gaston seems to be in a hurry for war.

Debt, such an ugly word that nobody wants to hear, but it will happen. In order to control the money we'll have to start controlling trade more vigilantly. Cut down pays or raise taxes, either way citizens will be getting less money, they may start riots. I'll try to control that fire.

And last but not least... death. We will have to help with taking proper care of people who die due to the war. From citizens, to soldiers, and even to enemies. Our country took pride in our mannerisms, war or no war. I stayed up until the late hours of the morning, writing until my fingers bled. I heard a knock on my door "Who is it?" I asked exhausted.

"It's your favorite brother..." said a voice.

I knew that it was Colton but said "Theodore?" while opening the door with a smile.

Colton smiled and said sarcastically "Ha ha. Very funny." he then looked at me worried. "When was the last time you slept?"

I was taken aback "Me?! You're the one knocking at MY door at this unholy hour!"

He chuckled and said "Fair enough. Get some sleep, I'll talk to you later in the morning." he turned on his heel and left.

Sleep sounded heavenly right now. I flopped on my bed and blacked out immediately.
