My name is Lucy Fawsett, my mum got me this book to use as a diary on my approach to my first transformation. To most people that would seem a little weird but the first change is a huge event and a lot of weird stuff happens on the build up to it. She just wanted to make sure that I had an outlet for it all as it's not like I can tell my mates.

As the daughter of two werewolves, I am guaranteed to be a werewolf. They can also smell it on me, the difference from regular humans. Sometime in the lead-up to my twentieth birthday I will go through the change for the first time. I am both super excited and majorly terrified. That being said, my parents have been extremely supportive and allowed us to live in the same place while I grew up. I got to have a reasonably normal childhood with friends and sleepovers.

While that might sound like what the majority of kids have, most werewolf families move every five to eight years. This stops the locals from questioning our night time activities too much. They don't get to have long term friends, bff's, boyfriends or girlfriends that can actually last.

Now though, with my first change fast approaching, we all need to move. They've looked at a lot of different places over the last year but ultimately dad could move with his company over to Wales. I have been temping for a small office so it's not a problem for me to leave and find something new over there. We've got a nice place in the Forest of Dean that has an annex on the side for myself.

I won't deny that as an almost twenty year old woman I am not keen to be living with my parents still, but if I branch out on my own and things go sideways I'll have no immediate support network. Werewolf families always stick together.

On the plus side, the Forest has quite a large Werewolf pack with 8 families living around the area. We don't usually gather in such numbers but the Forest offers a certain level of security. Dad has been in touch with the Alpha there regularly to make sure they don't mind us moving or if there are new rules we should uphold. I've only met one other family years ago but it was a passing visit of one night.

As a brand new changer, I won't have any control over what or when things happen. All that nonsense about the new moon is just that, nonsense. We can change partially or fully at any time day or night. The full moon is just a preferred choice as it's so much easier to see and hunt.

We're packing up the house today and tomorrow morning ready for moving tomorrow afternoon. I have loved living in Hadleigh with its Castle and massive park, we used to have so many walks and runs over there. Mum and dad would wolf out while I either tried to keep up or climbed the Keep to wait for them. You can't do that now sadly, it's banned to protect the site, but it was fun while I could. I'm ready to go somewhere else though, get to know a new place as well as I know those fields. My friends drive thankfully so will be visiting to see the forest and for drinks in my annex. Hopefully it won't be too weird and uncomfortable.
