11 Feng Jiao Heads to School

Feng Jiao strutted out of her room with her school bag on her back.

It was the first thing in the morning, and no one had ever seen Feng Jiao wake up that early. They'd never seen her wearing a school bag or the uniform either. The uniform she was wearing looked brand new.

The shirt was white, and the creases that the shirt had been left folded on, were still visible. It was obvious that the owner had never once worn it, nor washed it. That was Feng Jiao's truth.

Somehow even her long hair was tied into slightly uneven braids, that were just as even as Feng Jiao could ever do them.

It was obvious she had watched a video or something to tie the braids since the back was a little wonky, but it was relatively clean. It was the first time anybody had seen her in a hairstyle other than a single ponytail, or loose messy hair.

It was simply stunning, how much work Feng Jiao had obviously put into getting ready. Everything was thorough, from the hair to the well pressed uniform, to the ID card that hung around her neck. None of the researchers, nor the boss had any idea that she had an ID card.

Her bag too was bulging.

Kong Xiulan watched like a proud mom, as the child who was so rebellious grew up in front of her eyes. She never thought she would see the day where Feng Jiao would want to learn. She'd never used her textbooks, and here she was, carrying what seemed like all of them to school.

It was character growth of the highest order.

"Jiao Jiao, I just want to let you know that I'm proud of you." Kong Xiulan wiped a tear from the corner of her eyes and then stepped forward to hug Feng Jiao, who was not in her usual blood stained outfit.

Feng Jiao gave Kong Xiulan a shaky and slightly guilty smile but played it off, "I know I haven't done well all these years, but now I'll do my best to make you proud!"

Feng Jiao bit her tongue at least twice while saying this, but Kong Xiulan was so overcome with emotion that she hardly noticed all of the red flags that Feng Jiao was exhibiting.

"Work hard. I know you can do it." said Kong Xiulan firmly. She tugged on the boss's shirt in an effort to get him to say something.

"Do well in school, I guess." he said grimly.

He had stressed himself out the previous night, and now his eyes had dark and deep danda like under eye bags. He was barely conscious of what was going on.

The only respite he had gotten was the fact that the man standing outside had left at night. Since he left without ever entering, perhaps he was standing there for some other reason. Perhaps his engine broke down and he needed to be towed out of there?

The boss yawned and got ready to turn around and leave once Feng Jiao's send off was done.

It was much like a group of overprotective parents sending their toddler out on their first day of school. Feng Jiao definitely did fit the role of a toddler.

"I need something before I go." Feng Jiao gave the boss a shaky smile as if she was hesitating. Everyone assumed she was going to be asking for money or something of that sort, but instead Feng Jiao asked for something no one had expected.

"What is it?" the boss yawned again, this time his eyes watered up and his voice shook. He was quite obviously ready to sleep then and there.

Feng Jiao rubbed the back of her head instinctively, a tell tale sign of being suspicious, but no on ein the room was focusing enough to notice.

"I need the home registry and my ID to register for the final exam~" Feng Jiao drawled casually. She stared at the boss who didn't seem to react to it strangely.

It was a fairly standard request. Nothing too odd, nothing too out of the ordinary. Kong Xiulan herself could remember taking all sorts of documents to register for her exam. It made sense to her so she didn't really probe any further.

"Follow me," said the boss casually leading Feng Jiao into his office.

He pulled out a drawer full of files, and then pulled out Feng Jiao's. It only had two or three documents so Feng Jiao picked up the whole file and took it with her.

The boss smiled but didn't say anything.

Feng Jiao smiled back at him silently before stepping out of the office and giving Kong Xiulan a hug. "I'll be off then~"

Kong Xiulan nodded in approval and Feng Jiao began her walk out of the agency building and toward her school. Her face was grim and serious, and her countenance was most definitely not suspicious.

She looked like a particularly invested school student.

The serious kind who studied all day. Her usually unruly curtain bangs that liked flying into her button nose were also pinned back neatly. All she was missing was a pair of thick rimmed glasses and she would be ready for war.

The war that was trying to get an education.

As she stepped out of the door she gave the researchers and her boss one last smile before waving and heading out toward the big bad world.

'I'm finally out! I'm finally out! I'm free! I'm free! I'm freeeee!' she yelled in her head.

The hours locked up in her room had obviously driven her the slightest bit crazy.

As Feng Jiao prepared to sprint across the road she suddenly noticed something that shouldn't have been there. Or more accurately, someone.

Someone tall and handsome, but also infuriating and smug and a bomb waster. He was the reason why she'd been locked in her room to the point of insanity.

It was Gao Longwei.
