Chapter 13

It's been a week since the vampires decimated our territory, they haven't been back since that fateful night. Lucian has assumed the role of alpha, but there hasn't been a ceremony accepting him fully yet. He and I have been getting along very well haven't had much time to think about a mating ceremony though, but we have spent quite a bit of time together. We were now sitting in the makeshift alpha mansion that was built on the island. In the war room at least that's what I've been calling it lately. We've been trying to come up with a plan to attack the vampires head-on, but haven't gotten a solid plan yet. We're still waiting for Lupus to fully tell us what happened to Alpha Ajax, but I think he's still wrapping his head around the whole thing himself.

"If we had a bigger pack we could wipe the vampires from this side completely, but we just don't have enough wolf power to do so," Lucian growls in frustration pacing back and forth around the room. It was us, Arthur and Mary, with a couple of guards just in case in the room with us. Mary glances at me and I know exactly what she's thinking.

"What if we had another pack at our side?" I inquire looking around the room before making eye contact with Lucian.

"What do you mean another pack?" he asks suspicion lighting his eyes, I glance at Mary before speaking.

"What if we had the help of Blood Moon? I know you don't like them all that much and neither do I, but we could use their wolves. If they don't accept I know you're strong enough to take out their alpha in turn you'd become alpha of both Blood Moon and Silver Moon packs. However, you could combine the packs after the war is over and combine the territories giving us a much bigger territory and a bigger threat if the vampires decide to get smart again." I explain I could tell I had Mary and Arthur's approval but wasn't sure of Lucian's thoughts on the idea yet.

'Then after the war is done you can banish whoever you feel needs banished.' I send the last part through the pack link only to Lucian so it's not overheard by everyone else in the room. Before Lucian can respond Lupus knocks on the door and steps in.

"It's time I told you what happened to your father." Lucian's head snaps to Lupus so fast I get whiplash.

"Leave us," He orders everyone else in the room I go to follow, but Lucian takes my hand in his, "I'm going to need you in here for this." he gives my hand a tight squeeze and I give him a small smile.

"What happened to my father?" Lucian prods Lupus to answer, Lupus takes a deep breath and sits in the chair across from the table.

"We had split off into groups just after you guys came for Micheal. It was three groups each about nine wolves strong. Your father was in the middle group, my group. We were in charge of taking the entrance to the territory and kill off any vampires still breaking through the border. We could still hear the other groups and they were being attacked physically and with Molotvs. The entire area was covered in flames by the time your father saw the king vampire," my heart skipped a beat at the mention of the king. He had been the one that kidnapped me, sweat pools at my hands and Lucian gives my hand an encouraging squeeze.

'It's okay he will never hurt you again.' Lucian mind links to me before turning his attention back to Lupus. Waving his free hand at him he motions him to go on.

"We could just see his glowing red eyes through the smoke, your father told us to split and surround him. He thought if we could take out the king the war would be over. We split up as best as we could, but thanks to the smoke we didn't see the other vampires with him. Each of us got caught up in a fight of our own. Out of the nine of only six survived. After I had defeated the vampire that was on me I went to help your father. When I got to him the kind had him pinned with another vampire underneath him. It happened so fast I hardly remember what I saw. The one underneath him managed to get his arms around him, just as I had reached them and pulled the king off him the other one squeezed crushing your father underneath him. My wolf fully took over after that and the rest is a blur of blackness in my mind. I somewhat remember killing the one that crushed your father, but the king had slipped away disappearing into the darkness of the night and the curtain of smoke around us." a gasp escaped me as Lupus wraps up his story. Lucian's arms bulged and fur burst out along his arms and neck. He was fighting the change and I could tell it was straining all the strength he had not to shift. Lupus found his hands very interesting at this point and couldn't look up at Lucian.

"I will kill him. If it's the last thing I do, I will kill him." Lucian's voice was barely human at this point and I knew if we didn't change the subject fast he would shift. In small rooms shifting was a very bad idea. It caused more injuries than one could count.

"Lupus, gather the pack it's time they hear what happened to their alpha and what we're going to do about it." I take the role of being the levelheaded one in the room since I knew Lucian wasn't in his right mindset.

"What are we going to do about it?" Lupus asks glancing up at me, he wasn't afraid to make eye contact, but he couldn't hold it for too long which made my wolf howl with pride.

"We're getting a bigger pack."

After I explained to Lupus our idea he left the room and gathered the whole pack. Lucian and I were now standing in front of them all right outside of the new alpha mansion. Lupus had just explained to the pack how the alpha had perished.

"We're going to kill the king of the vampires, but we can't do it alone. We have decided to ask for help from the Blood Moon Pack," Lucian holds up his hand to quiet the pack, there was a lot of uproar and denial from the members. They silenced after a little while, "If they don't agree to help I'm challenging Alpha Marcus for his status and taking over their pack." the crowd had gotten so loud I barely heard Lucian's last words and I was standing right next to him. The pack bonds erupted into excitement and noise and one word came through from every member of the pack.

Alpha

Alpha I felt Lucian stand taller and saw his chest puff out with pride. The pack had finally accepted him as alpha. Which meant I really needed to think about my future with him. He was my fated mate and I felt confident in the role of Luna as of right now, but could I really do it? Would my past keep me from being who I was meant to be? Lucian's mate, and Luna of the Silver Moon Pack? Right now I think I could.

What do you guys think Marcus will do? Be willing to help, or will Lucian have to challenge him?
