7 The Search For Riley

"Deal with Maxwell at a later date, however, Riley was last seen on the school grounds. It is my responsibility as a chair to find him" Vincent said with finality in his tone.

"Fine" Darien said regaining his composure.

"Kerr since I doubt you will quietly sit down then I suggest you aid us" Vincent sent a knowing look to Kerr.

"Darien, how does Riley look? Does he have any distinct features?" Vincent asked.

"My Riley is a double red, I can't imagine him being hard to distinguish among any crowd" Darien said.

Both Vincent and Kerr went speechless. A double red was unheard of. How did this boy go unnoticed? And where did Darien find such a boy? Even with a cloak on someone like that would be hard to overlook.

"Let's go" and with that the three demon lords left the office in search of Riley in the different areas.

All around the school grounds whispers were heard of the gathering of the three demon lords. Rumors of Darien having a son also spread like wild fire and everyone was wondering who exactly was this boy and where is he.

It didn't take long for word to reach the first, second and third year students. Everyone including the representative students from each grade knew of these rumors.

First year Kai, who was practicing his magic suddenly lost his focus when he caught wind of this rumor.

"Lord Darien has a son? Well where is he and why did I not see him in the orientation hall?" Kai said getting frustrated and hitting the nearby wall with his fist, smashing it to pieces.

Second year Louis, who was discipling his fellow classmate also stopped when a group of second years passed by with the information.

"Hmm, what a interesting little rumor. I wonder, is the gathering of the three demon lords and the fact that no one knows the whereabouts of this mysterious boy connected? It wouldn't be far fetched." Louis while crushing the windpipe of the demon in front of him pondered nonchalantly.

Third year Niklaus, was in the foggy forest and with his keen sense of hearing it didn't take long for him to also become aware of the situation.

"Such a big fuss, can't they all just shut up." Roared Niklaus.

Everyone was buzzing with varying emotions.

After awhile the three demon lords gathered together at the agreed upon rendezvous area. To Vincent's great displeasure neither himself nor Darien found anything. Kerr was still not back yet but he was not liking the situation one bit.

A few seconds later Kerr arrived dragging a boy by his neck who looks to be a second year. By his yellow eyes you could tell he was a shapeshifter, a wolf by the looks of it.

Shapeshifters were demons who had the ability to change into their bloodline animals. They also possessed yellow glowing eyes.

"Now, Grayson be a good boy and tell them what you told me" Kerr said threateningly.

Grayson was the dark presence that was keeping a track on Riley's smell and had wanted to kidnap him.

"I-I don't know w-where he is I can't find him either, I promise I didn't take him I-" he was scared out of his mind when he saw those deadly golden eyes promising pure torture if he had laid even a finger on his son.

"Stop with the pathetic stuttering and just say it already!" Vincent was also getting aggravated. No one ever said he was the pacifist of the three. In fact when angered one could even say he was the worst, a literal demon.

"I was tracking his scent from the moment I smelled it in the air when he was with sir Maxwell and lord Darien on the school grounds and I followed him into the orientation hall for first years. But I kept my distance, I didn't touch him. I only started searching for him because his scent suddenly disappeared, I lost track of him and I thought if I found him then it would be my chance to take him unnoticed." Grayson explained.

"Take him unnoticed?…" Ways in which he could make this boy suffer ran through Darien's mind.

"What do you mean his scent suddenly disappeared?" Vincent asked.

"I don't know it just vanished" the boy replied.

Vincent adjusted his tie, "Kerr I want you to take this boy to the detention hall and see to it that he is well treated. Darien, I want you to go to the broadcasting room and announce to the teachers that they are to report to the main hall at once. This situation is quite serious and by hook or by crook I promise I will find Riley."

Once again the halls of DarkFall fell into an uproar of rumors and speculations surrounding the son of Darien, the summons of the teachers staff and the strange behaviors of the demon lords. None of which went unnoticed by the three class representatives.

It didn't take long for Kai to notice what was happening and Louis who had already guessed it had now confirmed his theory. Both boys knowing the situation left what they were doing to go searching for the mysterious Riley.

Niklaus who was running in the foggy forest stopped when he sensed the change in atmosphere. Things had become serious and he finally started thinking about everything he heard so far. Once he connected all the dots he had a pretty good idea of the situation. His mind was already made up, it didn't matter if he was kidnapped or not he wouldn't let anyone stand in his way. He was going to find Riley.

With all the teacher staff assembled in the main hall, Vincent started discussing the matter at hand. Of course they were surprised and had a lot of questions but they knew better than to interrupt the chair demon when he was like this. If the situation was not serious then he wouldn't have called for them.

Everyone separated into groups each having at least one specialized person in tracking. A barrier was placed around the school and no one was getting in or out. The chair has made it an official state of emergency.

Maxwell who was sorely disappointed in himself, regardless of how the situation seemed out of his control could not settle with that excuse.

He was a demon specializing in tracking and protecting, for him this was more than simply not being able to complete a task given by the demon lord. It was the fact that he failed at the very thing he took great pride in. He failed to protect and to track down the whereabouts of young Riley. With that in mind he started his search for young Riley once again.

Everyone now knew what needed to be done and so the search for Riley began. Who would be the ones to find him first. Or would any be able to find him at all.
