1 Demon Lord Darien

I was once again on the familiar dirty, old and torn mattress I called my bed. It was one of the very few things that occupied my room also known as the basement.

Glass scattering and loud voices echoed off the walls. By now I had gotten used to this type of behavior from my parents.

Nevertheless, I stayed silent curled in a small ball. My presence was practically invisible to my parents and maybe that was a good thing. Nothing good would come of it if I were caught up in their affairs.

With little effort I fell into a deep sleep.

••••••

Smoke drifted to my nose and slowly I started feeling suffocated. I woke up with a fright as I look around. I was surrounded by black smoke.

On instinct I rushed out of the basement but what awaited me was burning flames. Everything was turning ashes and I knew from the satisfied look on my father's face and the lighter in his hand that he was the culprit. I should have felt panic and I should've been afraid of what this meant, but honestly I wasn't the least bit surprised.

They weren't my actual parents. My real parents died before I could meet either. My mother died at childbirth and my father died right along with her soon after. For that incident and the fact that I have an unusual hair and eye color, I was considered a curse and no one wanted me. They would even be too scared to look me in the eyes. The most any of them ever did was continuously throw insults whenever they saw me, but none had the guts to actually come near me.

I was brought back to my current situation when I heard the screams of both my adopted parents being consumed by flames. I turned around and went back into the basement.

The fire was getting to me and I needed to find a way out. Everywhere else was already in bad shape and I was literally a sitting duck with no escape.

When I thought it was hopeless I suddenly heard a voice. A familiar voice was chanting something in my mind and I didn't understand the language at all. Immense pain shot through my head but only last a few seconds until a clear voice rang in my mind.

It was the same voice but now I understood what he said. It felt like my body moved on its own as I bit down hard on my finger and with blood I drew a weird circle on the floor.

A brilliant purple light emitted from the circle and a figure emerged. It took a second for me to regain my senses and when I did I was speechless.

Standing before me was a man dressed in a strange beautiful black suit with golden eyes and blue hair.

"Who summoned me?" the beautiful man spoke and his deep voice sent a cold chill down my spine.

He glanced at his surroundings until finally his golden eyes landed on me. When his eyes caught sight of me he seemed to be in a daze but quickly recovered as he stared at me with intense concentration and interest.

He bent down to look me straight in the eyes and reached out to touch my face but I backed away terrified.

"You are quite tempting" he said as he stood to his full height and advanced closer to me. With movements faster than I could follow he lifted me by the waist and kissed my cheek.

"Such innocent red eyes and silky beautiful red hair. You smell delicious and your skin is so soft." He said with so much delight in his voice it scared me.

He kissed my cheek again and then placed me back down on my feet. Just when I thought of putting distance between us he pulled me to his side and started playing in my hair.

"It seems I'm in the human world but who summoned me ?" He looked around again and as if the fire didn't faze him at all he merely stared.

"Hmm…I smell blood, two people are dead and this house is on the verge of collapsing" he said nonchalantly.

"How do you know that" I asked out of curiosity which far outweighed my fears.

The hand that was playing in my hair paused and I was again lifted into his arms.

"You can understand me?" He asked more like a statement than a question.

"Yes" I replied as I looked at him strangely.

"How interesting" he said as he gently rubbed his nose against my neck.

"You smell like a human, a very tasty human but the fact that you understand tells me your a demon" he said.

"A demon?" I said calmly which I doubt a normal person in my situation would do.

"Yes, tell me what is your name?"

"I'm Riley Hunter" I said and he kissed my neck.

"Tell me Riley, were you the one who summoned me?" He asked still kissing my neck.

"I…I don't know but it was my blood that drew the circle you appeared in" I said trying to hide the blush on my cheek. The first time he kissed me I was too scared to react but after so many soft kisses I couldn't help my deep red cheeks from reacting to his affectionate kisses.

"I see" before more words could be spoken he glared at the flames of fire that had burst into the basement. It was almost as though he was angry at the fire for interrupting us.

With one swift movement he hid my face in his chest and his hand covered my head in a protective manner. With inhuman speed he rushed out of the collapsing house.

Once outside he released me from the tight hold but still kept me in his arms. Since the moment we met he has been so gentle and it was an unfamiliar feeling to me but I liked it.

He placed his finger under my chin and lifted it to meet his gaze.

Those golden eyes looked at me with a level of seriousness and fondness I've never experienced.

"I am demon lord Darien and I would like you to be mine."

"Riley will you be my son?" He asked and I already knew my answer without even a second thought.

"Yes"
