Friends To The Rescue

The protective Zhao Chen shields his friend Li Meilin from whoever still wants to take humiliating pictures of his friend as they make their way toward the school clinic to have her checked.

Once they arrived, Mi Wei staggered into the room panting, because she had frantically run after learning of Zhao Chen's text earlier on their way to the clinic.

"You're just in time Mi Wei! Have you brought Li Meilin some extra clothes?" Zhao Chen asked. In his text earlier, he specifically requested her to bring Meilin some extra clothes since hers got wet from the incident a while ago.

After Mi Wei has recovered from all that panting she experienced, she looked at Zhao Chen apologetically. "I was already in school when you texted. All I brought for Meilin is my gym uniform."

Thankfully, today is Shenzhen High School's civilian day where the students are free to wear casual clothes all they want as long as it still follows the proper clothing etiquette that is clearly printed in their student handbook.

Mi Wei immediately grabs her gym uniform from her bag and handed it over to Li Meilin, whose teeth are now chattering from the cold.

"Hurry and get inside the clinic, Meilin." Mi Wei says with full concern for her bullied friend. "We'll be waiting for you here outside."

Smiling weakly, Li Meilin managed to smile at her friend, "Thank you, guys."

Reluctantly, Li Meilin now enters the clinic with Mi Wei's gym uniform in her hands. Meanwhile, as Zhao Chen and Mi Wei are waiting for her outside, both of them refrained from talking for a few minutes before Zhao Chen decides to break the silence between them.

Through gritted teeth, he says, "I wish I know who could have possibly done this to her so that I will make him or her pay for this."

"I wish I knew too," Mi Wei can't help but sigh in frustration. "But Li Meilin said so herself that she doesn't have any idea who might be doing this to her… unless she's lying to us."

This caused Zhao Chen to hunch his eyebrows together. "Why would Li Meilin lie to us? Her safety is at stake here."

"I don't know…" Mi Wei now regrets speaking her mind out loud. She doesn't have any proof that could support her statement, and here she is, making such stupid assumptions to her own friend. "Anyway, what we can only do for now is to keep an eye for her."

"Yeah, you're right."

Just then, both Zhao Chen and Mi Wei have been practically muted once they have been graced with the presence of someone they are not expecting to pass by here.

Walking proudly in the midst of the crowd is Shenzhen High School's Black Prince Lim Xian wearing that smug smile on his face that caused Zhao Chen to secretly glare at the boy.

On the other hand, though Lim Xian had seen it, he pretended to be oblivious about it and walked past him with his friends at his side. He doesn't know the guy in the first place, why bother entertaining him.

As the Black Prince had already walked past them, Zhao Chen took this opportunity to narrow his eyes at him. He doesn't exactly know why, but somehow… he thought about the possibility of Lim Xian's involvement in this since their friend Li Meilin has humiliated him once the other day. Maybe, this is all about revenge!

Shuddering into her place, Mi Wei said, "Geez. That guy sure is one hell of a living block of ice. He could literally freeze anything that's blocking on his way."

"I don't know about this Black Prince but…" Zhao Chen rubbed his chin as he thinks it carefully before speaking his thoughts out loud. "I think, he is somewhat responsible for all the mess that Li Meilin is going through right now."

Once Li Meilin was able to change her clothes from the set of gym uniform that Mi Wei lets her borrow, finish her check-up, and has been cleared by the nurse eventually, she immediately gets out of the clinic and greets her friends who were patiently waiting for her outside. Mi Wei was the first one to approach her and gives her a big, tight hug.

Pulling away from her immediately, Mi Wei now holds Li Meilin on both sides of her shoulders and carefully examined her from head to toe like a physician she aspires to be someday. "You didn't get any complications from the attack earlier, did you?"

Chuckling at her friend's reaction, Li Meilin said, "Relax. I'm fine."

"You are not!"

"Come on now, just forget what happened for now and let's proceed to our next class. We practically skipped the first one, didn't we?"

Because of what happened, Zhao Chen and Mi Wei weren't able to give a sh*t about the time for a while and only focused their attention on their friend (and they haven't skipped classes even once!). Now that Li Meilin has mentioned it, both of them lifted their hands and looked at their wristwatch.

"Shoot, you're right!" Mi Wei, who is also a scholar like Li Meilin in this school, curses at the back of her head for missing the first-period class. However, just by thinking of her friend's well-being first comforted her a bit.

Li Meilin kind of expected that kind of reaction from her ever-studious best friend, hence she felt guilty somehow for dragging both of her friends into this mess between her and her demon master. She then vows to herself to be extra careful next time to avoid unnecessary things like this to happen next time.

While they are now goofing around as they walked towards their second-period class, Lim Xian, on the other hand, was not very well-pleased as he glares at his annoying maid from a distance while watching her laughing along with her friends.

"Just you wait Li Meilin. Sooner or later you will have to give up that job of yours… I'll make sure of that."
