CHAPTER 6(The chosen one)

"It was supposed to be just another normal workday. Why did it have to get so messy?" Asta muttered to herself as she procrastinated.

"Sigh... I truly wanted to help him, but fate didn't have that in store for him."

As she talked to herself, a dragon-like creature popped out of her magic pocket. Though magic pockets are usually used to store dust crystals and weapons, it was rare to see someone store their magical pet in one.

"Doorda?! Why did you come out of the pocket?"

"Your pocket is stuffed with garbage, and you're asking me why? Why don't you try living down there in that filthy place!"

"Hey, mind your language! Don't forget, I'm at least giving you a place to live! If not for me, you would've been turned into dust crystals and sold in the market!"

"At least that would have been better than living in that filthy place. The smell is so bad that turning into dust crystals would be a relief! Just throw the potion away already; it attracts all kinds of monsters. Even after killing them, you just store their bodies in your pocket, and now they're rotting. Do you know how bad it smells?!"

"Hey, we must never dirty nature!" Asta smirked with a sense of accomplishment.

"It's just that stupid potion's fault. Just throw it away or sell it or something."

"Oh, you mean this?" Asta said, pulling a potion from her pocket.

"You know better than I do, Doorda. The [Potion of Life] is for the chosen one to tackle the upcoming calamity and save us all," Asta explained.

The [Potion of Life], made by the grand sage of Niro, also known as the Magistrate of Niro, was created for a single purpose: to give it to the chosen one to save the world from calamity. He also prophesied some key points to recognize the chosen one: he would be hard to find, wouldn't believe he is the chosen one, and wouldn't have any impressive powers, among other things.

But what she knew better was that she would meet him in the Chamber of Time, and he would refuse to accept the [Potion of Life].

The person that came closest to the prophesied one was Alan, but since he wanted the potion, Asta deduced he wasn't the person everyone was looking for.

"It would have been a lot easier if he was the chosen hero, haha," Asta remarked sarcastically.

"You mean that kid with the weightless or whatever his power was? Him? Well, I can see through people very easily. That kid is selfish and a coward; he didn't care about the world. Even if he had met all the criteria of the prophecy, I'd say he still wasn't worthy of the potion!"

"Yeah, well, I hope he's enjoying his slow village life. To be honest, I envy him. He wasn't born with a mission in his life. His destiny wasn't bound by others from birth. I wish I could live a life like that, honestly."

"Maybe after all of this is over—"

Asta cut Doorda off. "No, Doorda, my destiny has already been set. I cannot wish for a life where others may suffer just for my selfish desires."

"You mean the prophecy's last part where you are tasked to—"

"Well, that too, but I have a responsibility in my hands, and I must see it through," Asta spoke with a determined gaze.

"Whatever you say, you are my master after all," Doorda said, dozing off on Asta's shoulder.

"If fate allows us, may we meet again," Asta smiled, looking towards the area where she had teleported Alan.
