012 Goldensand Royal University

Monday, 24th of August. Goldensand Royal University.

Goldensand Royal University is a big university. When Luis look from the outside he knows that this place is huge. But when he is inside, the size of the university is a level higher. He asked people around about where the Dungeon Research Department is.

He brought a big box with a height similar to a guitar. Inside is the Goblin Chieftain's Burning Sword.

Luis came here to sell the 'Goblin Chieftain's Burning Sword' to Ian Davidson. After finishing the enchantment for Zea's dagger yesterday, Luis and Zea discussed what to do about the sword. The result is to sell the sword.

Luis has promised Ian Davidson that Ian will be offered the sword first. That is why he is here now. He had contacted Ian beforehand, and Ian said that he can come to the department at 10 AM.

After getting lost to a different department of the university, he finally reach the Dungeon Research Department. This department is relatively new, so it is located on the edge of the university with many new buildings.

Luis entered the administration building. He asks the administration staff where he can find Ian Davidson.

"Professor Davidson's workroom is on the other building. From there you can…" The staff explained in detail how to find the room.

"Thank you so much."

"From here I turn left, and then the 2nd room is Professor Davidson's room," Luis muttered to himself. "There is no sign on the door but this should be the room."

*knock knock*

"Come in," a voice sounded from behind the door. The room is small with two desks inside. On top of those desks are an enormous amount of documents. Despite the number of documents, there is still enough room for a monitor to be placed. Other than that, there is a shelf that is lined along the wall. Many books and documents are stored inside the shelf. There is also a sofa with a small table, most likely for guests.

Inside the room is a man with a sleepy face. He is the one that answered Luis, Ian Davidson. Right now, he is doing work in front of his computer.

"Hello, Professor Davidson. I am Luis… Uhm, yesterday I contacted you about the 'Goblin's Chieftain's Burning Sword'." Looking around the room Luis can't help but feel nervous.

Professor Davidson looks at his wristwatch. It showed a time of 10.08. "I thought it is still 09.40. Sorry, but can you wait for a little bit.

"Oh right, feel free to sit on the sofa."

"Thank you."

Luis and Professor Davidson are now walking to some laboratory. On top of the door to the lab, a sign is hung. The sign read 'Laboratory 04'.

"Welcome to the lab." Professor Davidson welcomed Luis. "In this lab, we research material from the dungeon. You can place the sword there."

Luis put the box that contain Goblin Chieftain's Burning Sword around the area that Professor pointed. They have agreed on the price for the sword, and the money has been transferred. Now Luis visits the Laboratory as a service from Professor Davidson.

Inside the lab, there are around four other people besides Luis and Professor Davidson. They are doing their own things, someone is using the microscope, another one is using a PC, etc. Luis's eyes move around the lab, looking for something interesting. He found that there are 4 metal ingots displayed on top of the table.

"What kind of metal are those?" Luis asked Professor Davidson.

"From left to right, Mithril, Adamantite, Dark Gold, and Orichalcum." Professor Davidson answered. "Except for the Orichalcum, each ingot weighs 100 grams."

"Is the small amount of Orichalcum because they are rare?"

"Yes, they are very rare. I have looked for them at many shops, but I can only find this much." He answered while looking at the red-colored metal.

"Can I ask about the characteristics of each metal?" Luis decided to ask.

"Sure,

"Mithril has similar properties to iron, except mithril is lighter. We also measured the mana conductivity for both. Mithril beats iron hands down. The only downside is that mithril is only available in the dungeon. So mass mining is still impossible.

"The second one is Adamantite. People said that this is a super-strong metal. And it is, Adamantite is stronger than a diamond. Because of the hardness, this metal is also very hard to process.

"Then there is the Dark Gold. This one has the same properties as gold. Looking at all the metrics like density, electrical conductivity, heat conductivity, melting point, etc. Dark gold has the exact same number as gold. There are only two differences, that is only on the color and the mana conductivity.

"And lastly is the orichalcum. We don't know much about this one. We can only get a small sample of this so we can't research it yet. But there is only one thing we know. This metal is mana resistant. Until now, we still don't know how to process this metal.

"All those metals look like a big upgrade from the metals that we have in our worlds. But there is a reason we can't use them on a massive scale. At least not yet. The mining and processing of dungeon metals are harder compared to the metals that we usually use.

"There is no machine that has operated in the dungeon. So right now, we can only mine it the manual way. Because of that, we can only get them in small amounts.

"The same also happens in how to process. Mithril, Adamantite, and Dark gold all need mana to process it. Human technology can't process them as we do for iron. So we need to process the metals manually. With those in case, those three metals can't replace iron and steel in the near future."

Professor Davidson finished his explanation.

"Thank you very much. This helps me a lot." Luis thanked Professor from the bottom of his heart. He learned many things about dungeon metals.

"Well then Professor, I think I need to go back now. If I have some other material or rare items from the dungeon I will contact you." Luis said ready to go home.

"Are you sure you don't want to visit the other lab? There are labs that—"

"Yes, it is okay. I don't want to waste more of your time."

"Oh right, I almost forgot. You are exploring the dungeon right? Do you accept an escorting mission?" Prof. Davidson asked.

"Escorting? Do you mean bringing someone to the dungeon? I sometimes do that… Do you want to go to the dungeon?" Luis remembers that he met Zea first when he supposedly brought her to experience the dungeon. Things happened and they are now exploring together.

"Yes yes, that… I wonder if you are free this week? Also, can you escort two people inside the dungeon?"

"I need to ask my partner first for that." Luis picks his phone and messaged Zea. "Anyway, how deep will we go?"

"Is it possible to go until the mithril mine?"

"It will be a little hard. I personally haven't been able to reach the mine yet. Last Friday I tried to go there with my partner but the road is blocked by an army of goblins. Having no choice, we ended our exploration and surfaced." Luis paused a bit, "So, as I have no experience reaching the mine yet, I am not certain we can reach it. If you want to reach the mine, you should look for a stronger team. I can help you search for a party, how?"

Professor Davidson thinks for a bit. He then answered, "We will go with your team. It is okay if we can't reach the mine. But I have one request, can we go with our pace? Is that okay?"

Luis's phone vibrates indicating a message is received. "Sorry, I need to read this first."

The message is from Zea, she said that she is okay with the guarding task.

"My partner has said she is okay with the escorting mission. Also, that is possible, we can go with your pace. We are only escorting, so we will go with the customer's pace. What day we will go?"
