1 Chapter 1: Darien and Aviana

The world of Terra is vast and filled with many powerful beings of different personalities. However, they all one thing in common, they cannot be restrained by a single power. Yet long ago one person was able to accomplish such a feat. No one knew his name. People only knew him as "Overlord", he who rules over all.

However, the powerful beings under his command couldn't stand being suppressed. Therefore they hatched a plan in order to make him fall. The plan succeeded and the Overlord fell but not before he left a line that haunted those who schemed against him for eternity: "I may have fallen but you shall join me. The difference? My legacy shall continue!"

Aeons have passed and the aftereffects of that battle are still felt. Chaos has ensued and only an Overlord can calm these destructive waves. But the schemes of the past have prevented this from happening. Fortunately, the past Overlord gave people a chance.

-----------------------------

In Nirvana Island, one of the three main islands in Terra lies a village near the coastline. There is a small country village with only around 100 houses and is surrounded by a lush but dangerous forest. Deep in this forest, two babies can be heard crying. Beside them, a man and a woman stood. "Elaine these are His children right?" the man asked.

"That's right Mark. Now put a little more effort into the formation otherwise these two angels will be killed by those old fogeys." Elaine replied.

"Then let us just kill them then! I don't understand why His Majesty wanted us to act so secretly!" Mark said.

"You'll never understand His Majesty's thinking with that slow brain of yours so just do what you are told," Elaine said exasperatedly.

As time passed a golden chart fell upon the baby boy. It hovered over him for a second as it released a blinding golden light. As the light receded the chart was imprinted in the boy's soul.

The same happened for the girl however, her chart was alternating between many different colours. The only thing that was constant was that the colours were opposing one another yet maintain a delicate balance.

The process lasted an entire month before any evidence of the charts were erased as they were firmly imprinted in the children's souls.

Elaine produced a white cloth out of nowhere as she wrapped the two sleeping babies in the cloth. She smiled as she looked at the two babies sleeping in her arms.

"Aren't they just so cute?" she asked Mark. Mark grunted in reply as he turned around and went back to town. Elaine bitterly smiled as she saw his actions before looking back down on the two babies.

"From now on you shall be Darien," she told the baby boy

"And you shall be Aviana," she told the baby girl.

She once again smiled and wrapped the two babies with her mana before chasing Mark.

--------------------------------

Six years later a boy and a girl were sparring in a wide yard. The boy agilely wielded his dual swords as he furiously attacked the girl who wielded a katana and a wakizashi.

These two were none other than Darien and Aviana. They were six this year and were and therefore eligible to attend a martial arts school and start martial arts training. Most children would only be touching martial arts for the first time when they turned six but Mark and Elaine had trained the two since they were one year old. This wasn't forced either as it was the two who had actively requested to be trained. They said that they wanted to train the charts imprinted in their souls as soon as possible.

Mark had happily obliged while Elaine had just helplessly sighed. She knew that the two would grow up to become strong warriors but she didn't want them to be too focused on training at such a young age. She couldn't help but laugh as she thought how she treated the two much like her own children.

So from that day on Darien and Aviana had started their martial arts training. The first thing Elaine had asked them to do was some simple push-ups and body training. Then she gradually increased the difficulty while also training their reaction speeds, battle instinct and light sparring

At first, the training barely lasted an hour. Yet their time training had gradually increased to 5 hours a day. Darien and Aviana had wanted more but Elaine had insisted that any longer would be detrimental to them instead of helping them as such they could only obey. The two grew up to be obedient children and they had a kind personality.

Aviana would always assist Elaine when she was cooking and Darien would sometimes help Mark in the forge by handing Mark some tools or materials. Therefore, Darien had started to develop an interest in forging but Mark had insisted that only when Darien was a Martial Artist would he even consider teaching him forging. However, Darien was incredibly persistent so Mark had reluctantly handed him a book that taught the basics of forging even though he knew that it would only serve to fuel the fire that was lit in Darien. Yet surprisingly it had doused the fire instead. Darien had come to forge less often so much so that he had worried Mark.

"Why are you coming to the forge less often?" Mark had asked Darien during lunch.

Darien innocently looked at him and said, "It's because the book that Uncle Mark gave me was very difficult." Mark scratched his head in confusion. He was sure that he had only given him the book on the basics of forging. However, when he asked what had confused Darien he couldn't help but drop his jaw in shock. It turned out that Darien had comprehended even the deepest intricacies of the book and was stuck since he couldn't understand some of the terms.

After lunch Mark had asked Elaine if she had given the two any Weapon Arts yet and she had replied that it wasn't time. So Mark had told her to check their comprehension and see if she would say the same thing.

Elaine had done just that and she was also surprised at their comprehension. She couldn't come up with a reason as to why their comprehension was that high apart from natural talent. But even then their talent would only be accessible to the child when they were six years old. This was because six was when the brain had fully developed its most vital parts. This was completely impossible and even a miracle couldn't allow such a thing to happen unless...

"What are the names of the charts imprinted in your souls," she hurriedly asked.

"Mine is called the Overlord Chart!" Darien eagerly replied.

"Mine is called the Polar Balance Chart!" Aviana said.

Mark who was drinking water nearby had dropped the glass in his hand as he dumbly stared at the two.

"Uncle Mark are you okay?" Aviana worriedly asked.

Mark hurriedly composed himself as he said," Yeah I'm fine I just put too much lotion on my hand so the glass slipped. I'll go get a new one." Then he hurriedly went inside.

Elaine shook her head bitterly as she thought,'Those are the two most profound and powerful charts in Terra. They were only legends and yet not only had Terra acknowledged these two by imprinting it in their souls they had also started comprehending it!'

Therefore, Elaine had started teaching the two some Martial Arts and Weapon Arts. Which led to the full combat sparring that was happening today.

----------------------

Darien shouted as he swiped one of his swords at Aviana. The sword contained World Energy but it contained terrifying power. Although Darien still couldn't be considered a Martial Artist, his strength is currently way beyond that of a normal human.

Swoosh!

The sword strike was fast yet Aviana simply sidestepped as she thrust her wakizashi towards Darien.

Chink!

The blades meet and neither one of them gave up any ground. They were evenly matched. As Aviana retracted her blade a shadow suddenly emerged from Darien's sword as a second sword struck towards Aviana's abdomen. However, she only snorted in response as she used her katana to deflect the sword before slashing with her wakizashi.

They went back in forth like this as neither one of them gave up. As they furiously struck at each other, a gap finally opened for Darien as he thrust his sword towards Aviana stopping it only an inch from her throat. Darien smiled as he proclaimed, "I win." Aviana simply smiled back, signalling with her eyes. Darien curiously looked down. What greeted him was a cold blade pointed at his heart.

He bitterly smiled when he saw this, "We tied again."

"It's not a bad thing you know. After all, this means that we are suitable for one another," Aviana said as she retrieved her blade.

Darien also sheathed his blade, "Yes that's true we make perfect partners."

Aviana scrutinised Darien as if deeply imprinting his figure into her mind. His sharp jaw complementing his sharp nose. His face was beautifully sculpted as if it was a work of the heavens. Those sea-green eyes were so beautiful that they could capture one's soul. The only blemish, if you could call it that, was the immaturity that was present in his face. It turned his face from being handsome to cute but that was a perk in of itself.

Darien smiled as he met her eyes. One of them was golden like the hottest fire and the other was blue like lightning. Her face was round and her skin was so smooth like silk. She also had a tinge of immaturity on her face but it was clear that she would become a very beautiful woman.

The two of them stared at each other in a trance. The setting sun was the perfect background as the two perfect figures stood in the courtyard facing each other. A calm peaceful atmosphere permeated in the air as even the heavens sighed in inferiority at the perfect scene.

"Let's go Uncle Mark and Aunt Elaine will probably be waiting for us. We don't want to keep them waiting lest the food gets cold," Darien suddenly said.

Aviana smiled as she took Darien's hand before pulling him inside.
