Hit and Run

Lucas was staring at his drink as if he really was thinking deeply about it. Her conditions were good enough for him but there was something that bothered him, "Why not aim for a strong stable relationship with a man you'll fall in love with, young miss?"

And be betrayed again? No thanks. She rather avoid something like that from happening. "I'm not interested in forming such a relationship, sir. If I was, I will not be here asking you something foolish as this."

And yet, he was being a fool for agreeing with her. "It's too soon to say that..." He mumbled, too soft for her to hear. His lips formed into a small smile as he turned her way once again, "But I like how this contract goes. Seems interesting. However, you said that we have the divorce, the freebie will still end up going with you. So in the end, I still have nothing I can go home with."

"Ah, I guess you're right." She replied upon coming into realization. She tried to think of something but it was useless. She can't give up her cat. Besides, giving a pet wasn't going to be advantageous for him. "Then why don't you suggesting something? Let me hear what you have in mind."

"Hmm..." He paused to think. When he was able to think of something, he crossed his arms and said, "We should have two kids. So if ever we separate, then we'll have at least one each."

The way they talked sounded more like a business talk and even if they were able to easily say things, they both knew that it was not going to be simple. "I want you to consider how heavy this request actually is in the long run."

Violet didn't like the idea of treating the kids that way. Those children were still going to be their own blood. The thought of being separated from one child was hard, especially for Violet who happened to love the company of children. "I will only agree as long as we give one another permissions to visit them and spend time with them."

He couldn't help but smile when he thought that it was such a decent agreement. They were talking and thinking like proper adults. It was a win-win situation for both of them. "I like that idea too. Just because we're separated doesn't mean we're not allowed to have family time with the kids. If that's your answer, then I have no more reason to decline. We will need to get this agreement in papers."

"I know..." But it was something she has already decided to take. "This is something troublesome but it can't be helped. Despite your looks, I feel like you're actually someone reliable." She chuckled lightly.

"What do you even mean with 'despite your looks'?" He huffed. He took his glass of drink and offered it to her. "Here have a sip."

She blinked a few times, looking at it. "What for?"

"You'll know it once you taste it."

Since she didn't saw him put anything, she took the glass and took a sip from it. It took a few seconds before what she drunk sunk inside her. The way the alcohol traveled on her tongue to her throat burned like fire. It was the strongest drink after all. It was as if she was drinking almost pure alcohol that one could barely tolerate it.

She wasn't able to drink more than a sip. She frowned at the sour and vile taste of the drink.

"That drink is how you'll have to handle me," Lucas said with a smirk. He took the drink back once again and this time, he was the one who finished it.

She really didn't care about how she should handle him as long as she would be able to get what she wanted. She suddenly remembered something. "Oh yeah, before I forget, I need a medical certificate showing you're clean from STDs. I won't be giving myself to you not until our wedding night just to make sure you're not going to hit and run."

"..." Hit and run? Medical certificate?

Once again, he ended up laughing. "Man, I can't believe it's possible to be offended and amused at the same time. A free pass to judge me, how many women do you think have I already got laid with?"

She shrugged her shoulders, not really caring if he has slept with a lot of women. Well... he looked like a playboy and a rapist.

"Who knows? Even if it's not you, I'll require every man who plans on sleeping with me to have a medical certificate showing that they're clean, no matter how innocent they look."

"Now this sounds more like employment rather than a request." He chuckled. "Fine. I'll have myself tested."

...

A few minutes later, someone else entered the bar. A man with a middle height, ponytailed-hair man came looking around and when he saw who he was searching, he went closer.

"Sorry, I'm late." The man turned and saw Violet to which his eyes widened, kinda like a surprised cat that a person suddenly popped out of nowhere. "She is...?"

The moment Violet saw him, she couldn't help but gasp. Well, it was actually because he looked more of a cat than Lucas. Just like that, her eyes sparkled in delight in seeing him, she looked at Lucas and grinned, "Can I back out and change my target?" She pointed at his friend instead.

"You despicable woman..." He laughed it off though before he turned to the other man.

The man remained to have a deadpanned look as he replied, "I refuse to be a target... A target in any manner." He stood beside Lucas, tugging his shirt like a child. "Where's Raven? It's already late."

"Oh shit. I forgot Raven!" He began looking around in hope to see his friend but failed.

"... If he's not here, then let's go."

"I guess you have to go back now huh?" She took out something from her wallet, it was a calling card with a cat paw design in it, her phone number was written at the back of it. "If you still want to go on with it, then message me. Let's try to work things out." She said as she gave him the card.

Lucas ended up focusing on the cat paw before turning back to her, "You really do like cats huh?" He chuckled. "Anyway, Vivian, meet my younger brother, Kevin Hei. Kevin, meet Vivian, my future wife."

"You've gotta be kidding me..." Kevin mumbled, looking at his older brother in disbelief.

"See you-"

She was cut off when he reached out and cupped her cheek. "You have beautiful eyes, future wife."

"..." Wasn't he going to leave now?

"Well, your eyes are prettier. They're not contacts, right?" She asked as she stared back into his eyes, being captivated by them once again.

"No contacts." He chuckled, he was really amused by her. Other girls would have become a blushing mess whenever he complimented them with his signature smile.

"Lucas, let's go," Kevin whined like a child to which his older brother only ignored him.

"I can drive you home if you want?" Lucas offered.

"Ahhh there you are!" Raven suddenly appeared, butting in their conversation.
