1. The End

"We all have gathered here for the decision we are about to make on Devlin Aldine the daughter of Martin Aldine and Juniper Emerson, the two most powerful dynasties of the demon world." the old rotten vampire named Darius Lloyd, who was head of the council said as he glanced at Devin.

The weight of his gaze was tangible like the brass knife strapped to belt of his tunic.

Well, he was not only the one, the whole of the supernatural council looked at her the same way they looked down on humans..inferior, weak and....useless only the fact that she wasn't one.

But it was not that she cared about them,what mattered was her parents were a part of it. She glanced over them, meeting their eyes but they were devoid of any emotions. Devlin was kind of glad to inherit that black soulless eyes from her parents, at least the only feature her parents knew she inherited.

"You were born for a purpose miss Aldine , and as per my knowledge you have failed," Darius said as he made eye contact with her. He somehow seemed a bit triumphant about that. Devin lowered her gaze to her feet.

'This is it, they are going to execute me today.'

She thought to herself. She could hear muffled whispers among the fairy and elf queens but soon the eerie silence was back.

'Stupid elves c always thinking they are the best. '

"So, miss aldine do you have to say anything in your defence?" the rotten idiot said in a dry tone as if he was just doing a formality. Devlin bit her tongue to stop herself from saying something stupid. She was already in enough trouble and showing how big-mouthed she was was not going to help the situation.

"Or..." the woman who was supposed to be her mother interrupted getting the attention of all council members,

"you could just reveal your powers. You will be forgiven, and we will be a happy family again."

she scoffed internally at her words .

who was she trying to fool?

'a happy family?'

Demons like her were not capable of that .Happiness made them feel sick! If it wasn't for giving birth to her, her parents probably would have swords at each other's throats at this very movement.

"I have said you earlier mother, I failed to inherit any of power from you or father maybe mixing up of bloodlines has caused my powers to become dormant," she repeated the same lie she have been telling them from the day she turned 16.

Her mother let out a defeated sigh and shrunk back in her chair. Martin just grunted in response. She knew he was ashamed of her.

"The council members are requested to give their votes and opinions. And you miss alder can return to your seat" Darius said as he gave her an evil grin.

Asshole .

She returned to her seat as instructed. there was nothing much she could do except...to go directly across the table, manipulate the iron in the artificial blood in the vampire's arteries and reverse its direction of flow. But doing that would expose her actual power which she has been trying to keep secret from past 6years. So doing that was not an option.

There were indistinct whispers among the members before the silence was back. She took a deep breath and prepared herself for what was about to come.

It seemed like waiting for eternity. she would be lying to herself if she said she was completely ready for it a part of her badly wanted to accept juniper's proposal but her other part was well aware of the consequences....and also she has promised Diana to keep her powers hidden.

A mere memory of Diana caused a lump to form in the back of her throat, her eyes suddenly burned with unshed tears.

Diana's family was enslaved to the Emerson dynasty for generations. If Devlin ever received any sort of love, it was from her human nanny named Diana.

Diana was killed by Matin when he acknowledged that she was teaching Devlin about humanity.

While taking her last breaths she advised Devlin to hide her powers from her parents. That day a part of their Devlin died along with Diana and she promised Diana that she would never let her parents know about her powers.....she wasn't willing to let Diana's sacrifice go in vain. so even if fate had death for her she would gladly embrace it....for Diana.

"Devlin Aldine, keeping in mind you come from two most important families of the supernatural world, who have done a lot for the betterment of us, supernatural beings, your punishment has been reduced from execution to being cast out in a human world as personal demons of a human.

For the rest of your life, you will be enslaved to a human, unless you stop being stubborn and let us get access to your immense powers."

"I accept my punishment, sir Darius."She swore she could hear a faint gasp from juniper.

She very well knew that right now all her mother wanted to do was to walk around that table, hold her by the shoulders and knock some sense into her. But such behaviour was objected for a noble like her, so she just threw some eye daggers at Devlin which made her shudder.

It was probably because she was ashamed of Devlin, the daughter of a reputed demon family was going to be enslaved to an inferior human. Fortunately, it was not the same for Devlin. For her, it was way out of hell.
