1 Prologue

Scouring some isolated buildings in a city that I think was considered one of the main ones back in the day, my brother Julian and I were looking for anything that would help us survive another day, it may sound extreme, but that's exactly how we've survived over the years, it's natural to sleep with your eyes open and rely on instincts like animals. Maybe that's not the right way to put it? I don't know. We celebrate whenever we find food, even if it's spoiled, it's like a feast, water and any kind of way to quench our thirst, like those black or other colored drinks, also help a lot, but they're really very rare, so whatever we find we divide up to drink every four days.

At first, when I was younger, I found it quite repugnant to plunder the bodies of other people like me, but less fortunate, but as the days went by, I got used to it.

got used to using things that were no longer useful to the dead, I was happy whenever I found something that could take my mind off my boredom and be useful to us.

As I saw a picture of a child and a father wearing similar clothes, and several people wearing the same clothes next to that large building, I felt a little envious,

What was it like to live before? Did they worry about food? Maybe they never knew what hunger was or how frightening all this silence is." Putting the image aside as I searched for that same man's body in the photograph, I was once again confronted with the question I've been trying to understand for years,

"Why did so many people wear these weird things on their eyes?" I put it on my face and try to see my hand which seemed all distorted, my eyes start to burn

so I take it out and think about leaving when I see a volume in the pocket of the big white clothes he is wearing and I take out a small book written W1LL5, thinking that this could distract me or be useful to improve my vocabulary since I never had time to learn how to read everything or be able to say everything, I believe it is important to know how to speak when other people appear, as soon as I thought about opening the book, I heard a low whistle that if I didn't know exactly what was making that noise, I would think it was some of the birds that were flying around. this place.

Knowing what it meant with a certain urgency, I quickly put the book inside my backpack and start to quicken my pace as I look around for Julian.

When we got together we noticed that the sun was already going down which wasn't a good sign.

"Brother the sun is starting to hide again"

with a click on the tongue Julian says

"Shit, I still thought we could find something to eat before finding a place to sleep tonight"

As he bent down and looked through the small windows of the gas station, he added

"I know it's hard to relax but we're going to have to spend the night here, it's very dangerous to go out there with these beasts around"

with a sad look Julian sighed and said

"I'm sorry"

Looking up Julian found a crack showing that there was space between the roof and the ceiling

opening the crack with the long stick in his hands he climbed up and gave me his hand to end this long day

we fall asleep.
