CHAPTER 5.2 - Jhon Benedict

"What I'm about to tell you, is highly classified. So be careful on choosing your words Mr. Benedict."

The Chief is really serious.. His tone is low yet furious and he's also emitting some sort of aura that made the atmosphere even more tense..

"Are you ready..?", the Chief asked.

I'm not sure if I should say the word Yes, but I want to know who my partner really is..

"I... I want to know."

Instead of using the word Yes, I replied using that sentence to ensure that I'm either nervous and curious.

"Good. Let's start then.."

The Chief walked to the right side of his office and unveiled a Television. It was a flat screen, probably one of the latest models to date.

The Chief turned on the TV and it showed Amelia Watson's picture and information.

"Watson, Amelia. Age : 19, Height : 150cm but she wrote 5'9 instead of 4'11. Birthdate : Unknown. Hobbies : Unknown. Blood-type : Unknown."

The Chief continued to recite all of her information that was shown in the TV while I was scanning everything as well.

"She.. Doesn't have an exact Birthdate..?"

"Yes, she didn't write it. I asked her about it but she only said that I just need to Subtract her current age to the current year. When I asked her about her agw, she replied that she's 19 years old."

"She's just 19 right? How can that be suspicious..?"

"Like I said, her knowledge is beyond ours. She might've said that she's 19, but maybe it's just a cover up for her true identity.."

That can be true.. I thought back then at the museum where I first saw her, I thought she's already a 29 year old woman who has high experience on investigating crimes.. But it turns out that she's just 19..

"Take a look at this as well..", the Chief said as he showed the next slide.

"John... Watson..?", I asked.

"Yes. John Watson was a very intelligent detective 50 years ago, he was also a very knowledgeable and trusted doctor at that time.."

"Did you meet him Chief..?", I asked.

"Obviously, No. I haven't been born at that time yet but my Grandfather always tells me about him.."

Eehh.. He must have a great history huh, maybe that's why Ms. Watson is so smart, because she's a descendent from John Watson.

"You'll find the next slide shocking Jhon..", the Chief said.

"Why..?", I asked.

The Chief turned to the next slide without answering my question, and what was shown in the screen.. Is just..

'John Watson found dead in his destroyed apartment, due to a bombing incident. Meanwhile his assistant, Amelia Watson is nowhere to be found.', is what it's shown on the screen.

"This.. Is.."

"This is a headline from 50 years ago, after John Watson's death. And as you can see.. A similar name like your Senior.. Is written there as well..", the Chief said.

"M-Maybe it's just another person right..? Th-There's no way that could be her..", I said as I stuttered.

Yeah! That's it! Ms. Watson is just a descendent from the Watson family, that's how it is!

"If.. Ms. Watson came from the Watson family.. Then wouldn't she have the name of.. Amelia Watson II?"

Th-That's... I.. That's just unbelievable.. My mind is going crazy right now, just who is Ms. Watson??? No.... Who is Amelia Watson???

"You're speechless.. Your reaction right now is definitely like mine when the Government Officials told me about this...", he said.

"Chief... Just who is.. Amelia Watson...?", I asked.

"We don't know yet.. This is still the information we have.. Until she tells us herself, then we're not proceeding on this one.."

I.. I'm completely speechless.. My mind is processing too much that I mostly forgot about the Reaper Case..

If the Amelia Watson from 50 years ago is also the same Amelia Watson that we have now.. Then.. How is this possible...?

"Isn't she acting a bit strange today as well? No.. Isn't she acting really strange these past few days?", the Chief asked after turning off the TV.

"Y-Yeah.. I can tell that she hasn't been having any sleep since she has bags under her eyes.."

"It may be that she's working too hard on the Reaper Case these past few days, but when I asked her about it earlier near a Café. She suddenly ran away from me.."

That's why I saw the two of them talking near the Café, that's what they were talking about.. But it's also strange that Watson would run away after getting asked, usually she'd answer immediately.

Something is definitely wrong with her right now..

"She's really acting really suspiciously these past few days..", I said.

"Jhon.. I hate to ask you about this.. This isn't an order but.. Can you.. Keep a look out on your senior?", the Chief asked.

A look out huh.. Like spying her? That would be a good idea to finally find out what she's doing in these past few days, and when I do corner her then it would be a perfect time for me to ask who she really is.. But by now, I'm guessing that she's still not back in the office, so I might search for her for some time..

"If you don't want to then, just forget I asked about it..", the Chief said as he turned around.

"No.. I'll do it Chief. I'll investigate her.", I said feeling determined.

The Chief smiled after hearing my answer to his request.

It might take some time, but we still have 5 days for the Reaper Case, so I guess I'll spend the 2 days searching for her..

I might not know where she currently is now, but I'm sure I'll find her. I've been stalking her before after all hehe.

"Okay then, when will you start?", the Chief asked as he sat down on his table.

"I'll start after my shift tonight."

"Hey, hey, tonight? You might get tired.."

"Thank you for worrying about me Chief, but if Watson did already solve the Reaper Case and that's the reason why she's getting really stressed right now. If that is the reason then I shouldn't be staying in one place. I also have to move."

"Heh. Even if you don't address her by Miss anymore, you still respect her huh.."

I don't know.. If I still respect her.. It's just.. She's been working hard lately, so I should move as well..

And also, if we really are partners, then we should he helping each other. So when I do find her, I'll tell her that we should be working together and she shouldn't be carrying all of this weight on her back.

"I guess that's just how my emotions tell me Chief.", I said.

The Chief smiled again after hearing what I said.

"You should go back Mr. Benedict, it's been 30 minutes since Lunch Break ended.", he said as he looked at his watch.

"Eh?! 30 minutes?? I thought we were only talking for about 10 minutes! Damn it...!"

I hurriedly unlocked the door and opened it, but by the time I was about to go outside, the Chief called out to me and said..

"Mr. Benedict!", the Chief shouted.

"Yes Chief??", I replied as I looked back.

"Bring our Watson back.", he said with a smile.

After hearing his words of Goodluck, I smiled and got out from his office to return to mine.

I don't know what me and the Chief are currently feeling right now.. Are we worried about Watson..? Or are we mad about her for keeping a secret from us..?

I guess that's not important for now.. I have to find her first, so that I can finally have some answers.
