Chapter 49: Emily: We Have to Help Her

"What? What's wrong?" Aiden asks, his face a mask of concern.

I shrug. "I don't know, but something doesn't feel right."

"Something doesn't feel right?" He repeats my words back to me as if he doesn't fully understand them. "What do you mean?"

I let out a frustrated sigh. "If I could explain, I would. But I can't. I don't know why, but I have a really bad feeling, and I don't think we should leave the jungle."

"Did you hear something or see someone?" Aiden twists around to look for signs of anything out of the ordinary. "Are there more of the inhabitants here?"

"No." I shake my head. "I mean, I don't think so. I haven't - "

"HELP!" The sounds of someone's screams silence me. Aiden races out of the jungle and toward the shouts.

"Aiden! No!" I follow, mostly because I want to make sure he's safe, but it's sheer terror that's propelling me.

One of the survivors from the crash - Penelope - comes running down the beach. "Someone help me! He's going to get me!"
