3 Desperate for Survival (A)

Soon, I was close enough to grab some vines, so I reached for them and used the momentum of my sprint to tear them off the wall… But the vines had no give.

I got shot back behind the lizard, and the vines didn't even have a slight tear in them…

Grrrrr

As soon as I reached back to try and catch myself, I felt my wrist snap in half.

It wasn't an immediate pain because as soon as I looked down while quickly standing up, I noticed my wrist bent the wrong way.

The pain was so bad that I felt like throwing up once again, but I knew that would be the death of me, so I gritted my teeth and ran in the opposite direction.

The lizards had lost sight of me for a quick second, so I was able to put some space between us as I desperately ran.

Tears flowed from my eyes as I was so scared of dying.

I had gone through the five stages of grief… and then it restarted from the beginning again.

I was at acceptance until these lizards came, and I immediately wanted to live, despite my pitiful condition.

This was also why my wrist broke so easily; my body had been starved of food and water for at most a day.

But, I wasn't able to feel it due to all the adrenaline.

As soon as I arrived back next to the pile of corpses, I glanced at the open hole in the stone hallway, providing just a tiny bit of sunlight as the sun was beginning to either rise or set.

My heart desperately clung to the idea of climbing up the pile of corpses and escaping through the open hole… but my brain urged me away from it.

Trying to climb up it was suicide.

I continued my dash down the hallway as the lizards chased me with bloodthirsty eyes.

For some strange reason, my mind was a mess but extremely clear at the same time.

It felt as if any blockage or clouding in my mind had evaporated into thin air and then left straight out my orifices.

[A few gods have found your struggling amusing]

[A few gods pity you]

"Fooooo,"

After letting out a long breath, I glanced back at the lizards who savagely dashed towards me, and once they got close enough to pounce towards me, they did.

But I expected this, so I immediately rolled out of the way and then put all my power into yanking off one of the massive vines.

Now that I wasn't panicking so much and I was up close, I realized that the entire vine just barely managed to fit in the palm of my hand.

"ARGHH!" I shout as I pull even harder, the muscles in my arms beginning to numb.

Thankfully, just as the lizards stopped themselves and turned towards me, I had ripped the massive vine off the wall and was now running in the opposite direction with it in my hand.

.

[Second Step: Rip the Vine Apart]

.

Suddenly, the white light outlining all the vines in the hallway disappeared, leaving just the vine in my hand to continue to glow.

Upon reading the panel in front of me, I couldn't help but swallow a large gulp of saliva as I had to rip this seemingly unbreakable plant with my completely dead and tired arms.

Also…

"HUFF HUFF HUFF…"

I was reaching my limit… fast.

Grrrrr

But, the lizards behind me served as more motivation to continue legging it while placing my fingers in between the revealed inside of the vine and then beginning to pull it apart as hard as I could.

My fingers were going numb this time, but I continued to pull and pull until it stretched apart, slightly revealing a few large seeds inside the flesh of the plant.

.

[Third Step: Take Seeds Out]

.

I had no reason not to listen to the panel's instructions, so I immediately ripped out the seeds, but just as I was about to glance at the next panel, I felt a pair of teeth sink into my back.

"ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" I shouted as the lizards all swarmed around me, and I had dropped the seeds onto the ground.

Another pair of teeth sunk into my arm and the pain almost made me faint.

No, I definitely would've fainted if it wasn't for one of the lizards stepping onto the seeds, causing them to burst into green gas that quickly dispersed the lizards.

Their low growls slowly trailed off as I began to inhale the green fumes, which made my head feel lighter.

.

I glanced back up at the tutorial panel, and my eyes which were slowly beginning to lose their light, completely died before my body itself died.

I had lost all hope of survival and as the green gas filled my lungs… I passed out.

Ding!

Suddenly, a loud sound echoed around in my brain, causing me to snap my eyes open.

My breathing was heavy, and tears filled my eyes upon seeing that I was alive… but it wasn't from happiness… but that I wasn't able to escape this hell.

I quietly cried, ignoring the panels in front of me.

"Somebody help… please… somebody-"

Suddenly, I heard my own voice coldly reply to my complaints.

'Nobody is coming,'

"SHUT UP! I DON'T CARE! SOMEBODY WILL COME! T-T-THEY HAVE TO-"

'Nobody is coming,'

As soon as my own voice repeated the statement once again in my head, the tears stopped flowing from my eyes, and I glanced up.

All of a sudden, a tattered brown book appeared in my hands, and it flipped to the first page by itself, revealing panels similar to the ones floating above me.

"Nobody is coming…." I muttered as I fell flat on my back and let the pages of the book droop over my tear-stained face.
