1 Rebirth of the Scientific Magus

Chapter 1: Rebirth of the Scientific Magus

"Shit... It's excruciating," Ron's first conscious thought echoed through his mind. An agonizing pain seared across his skull, as if it were on the verge of splitting open.

The surroundings felt like the tumultuous carriage ride of a horse-drawn carriage, each jolt intensifying the pain in Ron's head. He couldn't help but curse involuntarily.

"Awww... Fuck!" His profanity slipped through clenched teeth as he grabbed his head and forced his eyes open.

Taking in his surroundings, he saw walls fashioned from hollowed planks, with fair-haired, blue-eyed youths nearby, their eyes closed in repose. None paid any heed to his distress.

Ron found himself lying on the frigid ground, and the chill beneath him compelled him to rise hastily, for fear of catching a cold. But at that moment, a searing, unfamiliar pain lanced through his head, sending a rush of strange memories into his consciousness. Overwhelmed, he fainted.

"Hi! Leylin! Wake up..." a voice pierced through Ron's haze, compelling him to open his eyes once more.

"Have I been reborn?" The question plagued Ron as he grappled with the persistent headache, his confusion mounting.

In his previous life, Ron had been a brilliant scientist, relentless in his quest for immortality. His rebirth had retained his intellect, but also his ruthlessness, selfishness, and paranoia.

This new world, reminiscent of the European Middle Ages, held an enigmatic force: magic. Ron's new identity was Leylin Farlier, the son of a minor noble, destined to become a Magus, thanks to his father's influence. He now found himself en route to a Magus academy on a horse-drawn carriage.

"WTF... I've been reborn in 'Warlock of the Magus World.' I am Leylin," Ron's shock and excitement knew no bounds. A model student in his previous life, he was an avid reader of the novel 'Warlock of the Magus World,' with Leylin Farlier being his all-time favorite character.

His devotion to the novel was intense, to the extent that he once sought to have a television series based on it produced by his director uncle, albeit unsuccessfully.

Leylin's awakening was facilitated by a large, muscular youth. With gratitude, Ron acknowledged the assistance, aware that George, while essential now, would have a bleak future as a mere Acolyte.

However, Ron's thoughts soon drifted to the family heirloom given to Leylin by his father: a ring. His hand gravitated to his chest, recognizing the solid touch of a low-grade Artifact that could secure his entrance to the academy.

"What's on your mind?" George inquired, but Ron dismissed the question.

An altercation with a fellow student, Drake Henry, had ultimately led to Ron's death in his previous life. In the heat of the moment, after being shot, Ron had retaliated, resulting in both his and Drake's demise.

"Sigh... I died over something so trivial," Ron mused, acknowledging his past hypocrisy.

As he attempted to organize his newfound memories, Ron recognized that this world, akin to the European Middle Ages, harbored a mysterious force. His current persona, Leylin Farlier, had been destined to become a Magus, and he was now en route to the academy he had read about in his beloved novel.

"I've been reborn in 'Warlock of the Magus World.' I am Leylin," Ron marveled, despite the challenging circumstances.

His excitement was undeniable, and as he contemplated the perils of this world, he couldn't help but smile. The danger, the thrill, it all felt right. "From this day, I am Leylin Farlier," he declared silently.

"What are you grinning about?" George questioned, perplexed by Ron's sudden shift in mood.

"Nothing."

After further interactions with George and accepting some "medicine," Ron seized the opportunity to retreat to the carriage. He knew that his top priority was gaining the strength to protect himself. One wrong move, and it could be game over.

With resolution and expectation, Ron summoned his greatest ally:

A.I. Chip.

[Beep]

The mechanical voice in Ron's mind left him in awe, and he couldn't believe that he possessed an A.I. Chip in this world.

Ron's directive to the A.I. Chip was straightforward: scan his mind and locate any assistant systems.

[Beep! Scan complete! No unfamiliar systems found in the host's mind!]

Ron was stunned, but he pressed on. "Scan my entire body and display my physical stats."

[Beep! Scan complete!] [Ron (Leylin Farlier). Strength: 0.4, Agility: 0.5, Vitality: 0.4, Status: Bleeding from the back of the head, multiple soft tissue injuries] [No A.I. Chip detected in the host's body!]

The holographic display confirmed that Ron's physical attributes aligned with those described in the novel. His A.I. Chip had only two functions: data analysis and storage, but even with these, it was a remarkable tool that would become more powerful as he advanced.

After verifying the existence of the A.I. Chip, Ron ventured out to obtain some food. He scanned the people around him with the A.I. Chip and couldn't help but feel dismayed by Leylin's apparent weakness. The bread he picked up tasted awful, but he disregarded the taunts and quickly retreated to the carriage.

Bessita approached Ron, offering a bottle of "medicine," which he promptly discarded, aware of its true contents.

Ron's primary objective was clear: he needed to grow stronger. He knew that this world was fraught with dangers, many of which were mysterious and unpredictable. His heart raced as he couldn't help but smile at the prospect of his newfound existence.

"What are you grinning about?" George inquired, confused by Ron's abrupt change in demeanor.

"Nothing."

Ron dedicated most of his time to optimizing the Knight Meditation Technique and engaging in a regimen to enhance his strength. He also ventured into the wild, experimenting with herbs and plants to expand the A.I. Chip's database.

In the days that followed, Ron had a confrontation with Ourin and his gang, earning him three magic crystals and a Cross Blade. He also sparred with George, gaining his approval and forming alliances for the impending Death Battle Royal against the Beasts.
