Chapter 6

Ron chose a different path from Feng Meng's story, avoiding the Demon Tree but having to confront the formidable Beastmen. Although he managed to overcome them, he sustained several injuries. Fortunately, his vitality would aid in his recovery.

Before departing the Abyssal Bone Forest, Ron collected and copied all available information from the library. He also purchased a multitude of potion formulas and spells. His intention was not to return until necessary, specifically when he needed access to the laboratory and significant trades, such as the one with Dorotte concerning inscription.

Using a "Transfiguration Spell," Ron altered his facial features and attire to conceal his identity. He had already identified a general location for an Inheritance ground, but recognized his current limitations. To deal with a powerful serpent, it took five Level 3 Acolytes. Thus, his immediate goal was to reach Peak Level 3 and secure cannon fodder as bait and shields, as well as obtain artifacts.

Upon reaching Grey Stone City, Ron rested for two days before continuing his journey. Along the way, he encountered and defeated a group of "bandits." Ron also confirmed his ability to absorb energy from humans. He visited areas frequented by Wandering Magi, sold his potions, and secretly observed others, gaining more "Mysterious Energy."

This "Mysterious Energy" bypassed bottlenecks, eliminating the need for reagents or inducers. Although the A.I. Chip couldn't analyze or comprehend it yet, Ron saw potential in using the energy to strengthen specific aspects of his body.

As he progressed, Ron noticed that increasing his stats had diminishing returns. The solution was to face stronger opponents. The A.I. Chip helped him identify dangerous foes and detect Magic Artifacts, allowing Ron to avoid conflicts he couldn't win. However, he didn't leave his enemies unattended, especially those with malicious intent.

In one instance, Ron was ambushed by a group led by a Level 3 Acolyte. He managed to evade capture and spent a week hunting down and eliminating all his attackers, except the Level 3 Acolyte, whom he decided to flee from.

During his journey, Ron acquired numerous potion formulas and books to enhance his knowledge.

Upon requesting an update, the A.I. Chip displayed Ron's enhanced stats as a Level 2 Acolyte and Knight.

Ron's destination was the Ellinel Market, managed by the Redbud Family, one of the supporters of the Abyssal Bone Forest. He aimed to acquire additional resources and, perhaps, slaves.

The market was colossal, its ceiling adorned with unusual stalactites. Several buildings lined the central market area, and various Magi and acolytes, donning robes of different colors, moved among them.

After visiting a potion shop, Ron obtained directions to Gandor's Grocery Shop. Upon entering, he was greeted by the shop's disarray and a half-dead shopkeeper.

"The geezer from the Potion Shop recommended this place. I am just browsing a little," Ron remarked.

The shopkeeper retorted, "I don't allow people to 'browse' here. Either buy something or get lost."

Undeterred, Ron decided to comply with the shopkeeper's unconventional choice. However, the shopkeeper insisted on making the selection.

"I'll choose for you," the shopkeeper declared.

Ron accepted and watched the half-dead shopkeeper rummage through a precarious shelf at the back of the store. The shopkeeper eventually retrieved a worn black scroll.

The scroll bore unfamiliar characters, and its edges were frayed. The shopkeeper claimed it to be a fragment of a spell by The Great Magus Serholm, enticing Ron with the prospect of high-level Magus advancement.

Skeptical, Ron scanned the scroll with the A.I. Chip, knowing it was likely a fake but interested in its potential as a method to create a Magic Artifact. He needed the A.I. Chip to determine its true nature.
