Butler Albert

Having cleared his thoughts, a small sense of confidence entered his heart.

He might not have magical affinity, but the fact that he had successfully taken over a human body, fully functionning and filled with martial potential, was something that countless demons would have wished for.

So what if he would not be able to follow the Magus Path which was revered in the multiverse?

He was not in the demon plane anymore.

He was not in hell anymore.

Just because knights were inferior to magi did not mean that knights were weak. As long as he persevered and applied his demonic knowledge, he might even push the boundaries of the knight path beyond what was currently thought of achievable in this plane.

Despite having fallen in such a situation, Greem did not fall into despair. He did not know such a feeling. That's why he began smiling.

Getting out of his room, Greem felt very hungry.

He descended the stairs, and a servant quickly bowed in front of him

"Young master, do you need anything?"

The servant might look very ordinary, but Greem knew better than to judge a book by its cover. Having just absorbed his body's memories, he knew that the servant who was currently showing respect was called Butler Albert.

He was a middle aged man with grey hair, probably in his late forties. However, he also happened to be the only one who showed support when he was chased out of the ancestral keep after his lack of talent was tested again and again. When he was appointed to Marsaskala and basically exiled, not even his sister or parents dared to protest against the patriarch's decision. They just accepted it.

But the butler who raised him and taught him etiquette since the youngest age did not. He showed more affection than anyone else in the house, despite not being related by blood.

He was not ordinary either. He possessed magical affinity and although he was only a beginner rank acolyte, Greem could feel that the man's strength and experience were not to be underestimated either.

The human Greem never knew about the man's abilities. His family probably did, but never told him. If not for the hell system he was blessed with, he would have never guessed it either, especially since he possesses no magical affinity himself.

[Name : Albert | Race: Human

'He has even reached the peak of the beginner acolyte realm...Most likely, he is stuck in the bottleneck to the intermediate realm, and has been stuck for quite some time', Greem analysed

Although acolytes were much weaker than magi, they were usually valued higher than regular knights. Beginner rank acolytes were already able to cast spells, at least in theory. In wars, especially, their impact was terrifying, though they were vulnerable to ambushes.

It did not mean that acolytes were superior to knights. They were just fundamentally different entities. Whereas an acolyte would need time to cast a spell, a knight could swing his sword and kill his target instantly. However, an acolyte spell could kill several soldiers in a single blow, whereas a knight would have more trouble having the same impact.

Hence, even if the Steelguard Household was one of the three major noble family of the Greenhill Empire, beginner rank acolytes who had reached the peak of this realm were not as common as to let them wander off without conditions.

To put things into perspective, there was only one magus in the Steelguard family, the supreme elder. The patriarch was second to the supreme elder only, having reached the peak acolyte realm, the only one to have done so in the past century. Then, there were only 5 elders who had reached the advanced acolyte realm. The rest of the family were mostly intermediate and beginner rank acolytes, the vast majority being beginners.

The Steelguard Household was known for its mastery of all wind and earth magic. They were elemental mages at heart, and basically pursued attainments through studies and experiments. Although it was a slow process, it had limitless potential.

However, Greem could feel that Albert possessed a blazing aura about him. Since he had no magical affinity, it was difficult for him to feel the elemental particles, which he used to be able to see and even count with ease in the past. His soul, however, was still that of a demon, allowing him to perceive magic still, beyond what his body allowed.

It was the very limits of what he could do, but he could somehow perceive that Albert was a fire type acolyte.

'Interesting...', Greem thought upon analysing the servant that had shown such commitment to him

Since he asked, Greem decided to answer: "I will train, Albert. You don't have to call Sir Rudolph. I will train alone in the garden. Please prepare a bath in two hours"

Albert did not show it, but his eyes flickered in surprise. Usually, Greem would not train unless Sir Rudolph, his instructor, pulled his ears and forced him to. Never before, he had trained out of his own accord.

However, it was not his place to question these changes, so Albert merely bowed in respect, before making the preparations.
