Warlock of the Magus World – Redux

Dr. Fang Ming, a scientist in his previous life, reincarnates into a world of sword and magic. Thus, he becomes the new owner of Leylin Farlier's body. The previous Leylin was the useless son of a Viscount and a weak miscreant shunned by the nobilities. But to our protagonist, that is nothing to be concerned about. He always gets what he wants, one way or another. And he craves all the power he can get his hands on. He knows no limit to his ambition; Leylin's final goal is to stand above creation itself. Other people are just pawns on his game board, and relationships are the strings he uses to manipulate events in his favor. Yet, Leylin does not kill exclusively when his plans demand it. He kills for his own sick pleasure. Unattached, ambitious, calculating, and sadistic; such are the qualities of a true villain. Such are the traits defining the new Leylin. |=|=|=|=|=|=|=| **What are the differences compared to the original?** 1.- Fewer exclamation marks and better grammar. 2.- Leylin's character is way darker (his actions reflect his evil nature). Doesn't mean he won't be as dedicated or smart, though. 3.- The Chip has a true A.I. personality. NO ROMANCE AT ALL with the MC, and it won't get a body of its own. It will NEVER disobey the MC either. He basically has Siri/Alexa in his head, nothing more. I do this for fun, I own nothing (cover included ---> shorturl.at/yDGIN)

Innate Spell

In a secluded corner of the forest, far from the curious gaze of others, Leylin found himself in a tranquil solitude. This serene environment provided him with the perfect setting to delve deeper into the mysteries of his newly evolved body. After gaining some profound insights into his transformation, he shifted his focus to other pressing matters.

Leylin had been practicing the Kemoyin's Pupil meditation technique and studying the teachings of the Book of the Giant Serpent. These practices had granted him a more profound understanding of the innate spell of Magi, a knowledge that was typically elusive to most.

The common path for most Magi was to select a Rank 1 defensive spell model and supplement it with Grine Water for a breakthrough. However, this method had its limitations. Without access to more valuable resources and an appropriate Rank 2 spell model, their chances of advancement were slim.

In contrast, the heads of large organizations or core members of first-rate Magi Families had the privilege to practice high-level meditation techniques. Each level of these techniques could correspondingly increase the rank of a Magus. Furthermore, each level contained a fixed innate spell model.

This peculiarity implied that one could predict a Magus' innate spell by merely observing a part of the high-grade meditation technique that the Magus practiced. This ability to predict added another layer of complexity and intrigue to the world of Magi.

Warlocks, a unique breed of sorcerers, were known for their dependence on luck for success. This reliance on chance was a significant factor contributing to their rarity in the present era. The formation of their innate spells was heavily influenced by sheer luck, as well as the purity and concentration of the blood essence of their chosen Bloodline.

Leylin, however, was a man who preferred to control his own destiny rather than leaving it to chance. He had managed to acquire and purify the blood essence of a revered ancient creature – the Giant Kemoyin Serpent. This blood essence was expected to be highly compatible both with his Mankestre DNA and his elemental affinities, particularly given the high-level meditation technique developed by the Great Magus Serholm that Leylin had inherited.

After extracting a strand of his Spiritual Force and manipulating it in his hand, where it radiated a mesmerizing crimson-purple glow, Leylin instinctively understood the intricacies of his own innate spell.

'Eye of Petrification… and… Scales of Kemoyin?' he pondered.

[Two innate spells. Quite impressive, Doctor.] Aralis remarked.

A wave of satisfaction washed over Leylin, causing him to burst into hearty laughter.

In the process of forming their innate spell, Warlocks could encounter a unique phenomenon. This occurred when the essence of the Bloodline they absorbed was incredibly rich, almost mirroring the origin of the Bloodline. Under such circumstances, an additional innate spell could be formed.

The possession of an additional innate spell elevated Leylin's status among Rank 1 Magi. It was akin to having an extra innate spell among magicians of the same level, providing him with a significant edge.

Shortly after his initial discovery, Leylin delved deeper into the study of the Kemoyin's Pupil meditation technique and the Book of the Giant Serpent. His diligent research yielded further insights into his two innate spells.

Leylin studied the descriptions of his two innate spells with a focused gaze. The first, the 'Eye of Petrification,' allowed him to project a petrifying gaze that could instantly turn a target to stone, mirroring the power of a full-fledged petrification spell. More formidable beings would experience temporary rigidity under its effect.

The second spell, 'Scales of Kemoyin,' bestowed upon him the ability to envelop his skin with a layer of scales instantaneously, forming a robust defensive barrier. This spell provided a Physical Defense of 25 degrees and a Magic Defense of 27 degrees.

According to Aralis's estimations, these two innate spells were quite remarkable among all Rank 1 spells. If one were to construct these spells through a spell model, each would necessitate at least 10 points of Spiritual Force and Mana Energy. However, the current consumption was merely one-tenth of that, highlighting the distinct advantage of innate spells.

Moreover, Leylin deduced that he could maintain the Scales of Kemoyin constantly with just a consumption of 2 points in Spiritual Force and Mana Energy. This revelation gave him insight into the defensive forcefield that always seemed to surround Magi. These were the innate defensive spells they had perpetually activated around them. Any attacks that failed to penetrate their innate spell defense would never cause them harm.

With these two innate spells at his disposal, one for offense and the other for defense, Leylin's current abilities were exceptional even among official Magi. His decision to follow the path of Warlocks, known for their effective meditation techniques and potent bloodlines, had yielded significant benefits immediately after advancement, far surpassing those of regular Magi.

Newly advanced Magi posed no threat to him. Only those who had spent some time at Rank 1, with their Spiritual Force and Mana Energy nearing their limits and having mastered a large number of Rank 1 spells, could potentially challenge Leylin.

As for Rank 2 Magi? Leylin acknowledged that he was not yet their equal. He harbored little confidence in his ability to evade them if the situation called for it.

The disparity between each level among the Magi was profound. It was not something that could be bridged simply by possessing superior bloodlines or meditation techniques.

Despite this, Leylin found himself immensely content with his current standing. He had only recently advanced and the road ahead was filled with endless possibilities. His future was as vast and open as the sky itself.

Leylin, a figure of intrigue and power, found himself in a moment of quiet reflection. A smile played on his lips as he exchanged his worn black robes for a fresh set. He methodically arranged the various items he had brought with him, each one a testament to his journey thus far.

He slipped into a suit of luxurious jet-black armor, its craftsmanship far superior to his previous one. This masterpiece was the handiwork of an expert blacksmith from Grey Stone City. Over this armor, he draped his black robes, the familiar fabric settling comfortably against the cold metal. The Fallen Star Pendant, a constant companion, found its place once again around his neck.

Leylin couldn't help but ponder the pendant's defensive capabilities. 'The defense of this pendant is rather low, considering most Rank 1 spells have power above 20 degrees. Any attack from an official Magus would be able to break the defense of this Fallen Star Pendant...'

He turned to Aralis, his trusted aide, 'Aralis, calculate the likelihood of enhancing the Fallen Star Pendant,' he requested.

[Task initiated. Commencing analysis…] Aralis responded promptly, her voice steady and reassuring as she began her calculations.

Aralis had also reaped significant benefits from Leylin's advancement to a Rank 1 Warlock. Her computational abilities were noticeably stronger than before, a testament to their shared growth.

With his gear switched and his thoughts organized, Leylin approached a small stream nearby. He gazed at his reflection in the clear water.

The man staring back at him was strikingly handsome with jet-black hair and eyes that held the intensity of a formidable demon. His presence radiated an unusual allure that was both captivating and intimidating.

'Fascinating... even my hair color has changed...' Leylin mused as he studied his reflection. His thoughts drifted back to the black-haired snake woman from his dream.

'Could it be…Was the dream more than just an illusion? If so, she could be some sort of matriarch of the Kemoyin Bloodline, considering she referred to me as her offspring...'

Leylin was well aware that these external changes were the result of his bloodline transformation. But it wasn't just his eyes that had changed; subtle alterations had also occurred in his facial features.

Leylin's transformation was not just limited to his hair and eyes. His eyebrows had become more pronounced, framing his eyes perfectly and adding to his allure. His face, already handsome, had taken on an even more striking appearance. His skin had turned a shade paler, resembling the pristine whiteness of fresh snow. Coupled with the inherent dignity of a Warlock, he exuded an enigmatic charisma that was hard to ignore.

'According to legends, Warlocks not only possessed powerful spells and formidable physical bodies, but they were also invariably handsome or beautiful. So, this was all influenced by the bloodline...' Leylin mused.

He continued to study his reflection, taking in the changes with a sense of fascination and curiosity. After a while, he decided to use his Shapeshifting Spell to minimize the most noticeable changes in his appearance.

He reverted back to his disguised look, albeit slightly taller and more robust. His face retained its enhanced attractiveness and his hair remained black. His eyes, however, returned to their original emerald green hue. His skin took on a healthier, rosier shade of pale, making him look less like a vampire and more like a man in the prime of his health.

This transformation was subtle yet significant. Leylin had managed to maintain his new-found handsomeness while ensuring he wouldn't draw unnecessary attention. Furthermore, he restrained his energy waves and mana radiation to the best of his abilities. It was a delicate balance, one that he navigated with ease and finesse.

Sapphire Lake, a gem in the eastern realm of the Poolfield Kingdom, was a spectacle of extraordinary beauty. Its allure was not just in its aesthetic appeal, but also in the unique ecosystem it nurtured.

In the winter months, when the sun cast its golden rays upon the world, the lake transformed into a breathtaking tableau. From an elevated vantage point, the azure waters of the lake sparkled with a clarity that mirrored the brilliance of a sapphire gemstone.

The lake was home to an exclusive species known as the Blue Ice Fish. This aquatic creature was celebrated for its fresh and succulent taste. Acolytes who incorporated this fish into their regular diet found a subtle enhancement in their meditative practices.

This unique combination of natural beauty and mystical benefits made Sapphire Lake a coveted territory. The area fell under the control of a Magus family —  the Tylers. Bicky, a member of this influential family, held dominion over this enchanting lake.

One particular afternoon, an certain visitor found himself at the threshold of the Tyler family's ancient castle.

Surveying the imposing structure, he mused aloud, "So this is the ancestral stronghold of the Tyler family? It's rather unimpressive. The decline of this Magi clan is quite evident."

His gaze fell upon the colossal stone castle that stood proudly on a cliff overlooking Sapphire Lake. A layer of toxic cloud encircled it, serving as a deterrent to unwelcome guests.

Leylin assessed the building with care. The large yellow cliff on which it stood bore signs of weathering and erosion - silent witnesses to the passage of time. The castle stood there, emanating an aura of melancholy and decline.

Guarding the entrance of the castle were two statues, seemingly breathing fire, standing as silent sentinels. The Tyler family, once in a golden age of prosperity, had left their mark on this ancient castle. Yet, it was a pity...

Leylin, the visitor, ran his fingers over the lifeless statues and shrugged. He hadn't come for sightseeing. His visit was driven by a clear objective and a meticulously crafted plan.

Powerful Magi families often fortified their strongholds with defensive spell formations. At the very least, magical creatures would guard the door. But here, Leylin found only two stone statues and an ancient castle devoid of any magical aura.

With his current strength as a Rank 1 spell, Leylin could easily demolish this castle single-handedly. But such recklessness was not in his nature...

A smirk played on Leylin's lips as Aralis' scan of the area and its inhabitants appeared on his holo-screen. The results were pleasing. It seemed the rumors about the Tyler family lacking a Rank 1 spell were indeed true.

After lingering at the castle entrance for a while, the inhabitants inside were taken aback.

The sound of massive stone axles turning echoed through the air as the castle doors slowly opened.

"May I ask… Who are you looking for?" A young voice chirped from behind the door. A green-haired girl, no more than eight or nine years old, peeked out.

"I am Lord Leylin Farlier, here to see your family's head. He is expecting me," Leylin responded gently, patting the little girl's hair as if he were a kind man who adored children.

"My Lord! I apologize for my daughter Kushy's behavior... I lost sight of her for a moment…" A middle-aged man with the energy waves of a level 2 acolyte finally appeared at the door, looking at Leylin apprehensively.

"Kushy! Bow quickly!" The man hastily ushered his daughter behind him and instructed her to bow.

"Please, Lord Tyler, there's no need for formalities," Leylin interjected smoothly. "I am a humble man and find such politeness excessive. Your company inside your magnificent castle is all I seek." He extended his hand towards the middle-aged man in a gesture of respect. "I've heard only good things about the Tylers, so I'm sure your home is filled with a legacy of greatness." With these words and a kind smile, Leylin executed one of his signature gentlemanly bows.

The middle-aged man could sense the formidable energy waves radiating from Leylin. Despite his youthful appearance, Leylin's power far surpassed his own, reaching the peak of a level 3 acolyte. This realization filled the man with a sense of awe and trepidation.

He knew he could never match the prowess of this young acolyte. Furthermore, the Tyler family had been in decline for quite some time and lacked substantial support.

Leylin's eloquence and diplomatic demeanor left the middle-aged man astounded. However, he managed to maintain his composure and offered a courteous smile. "Your words are too kind, my Lord... Please, let us proceed indoors. A banquet has been prepared in your honor. Our chefs have gone to great lengths to cater to your refined tastes."

Leylin responded with a light-hearted jest, "As long as there's a hearty steak and a cold beer on offer, I'm more than satisfied, my Lord." His words elicited a genuine chuckle from the head of the Tyler family.

Couldn't upload yesterday because it was a hard day at work, but I'll make the effort to bring constant updates Monday through Friday - no promises though, just laying out my intentions.
