1 001: Tragic Past

There was an explosion in the distance. It was chaos. People screamed, many fainted. I was 9 when the initial appearance of the Wisps happened. My home was 800 meters away from the blast zone, yet the explosion was at such a high magnitude that I felt the rumble in my chest. My family was told to evacuate the city, however, the Wisps were approaching my current location, and there were only a few more seats in the rescue helicopter. My parents left themselves behind, sacrificing their seats for me and my older brother. My brother was in tears, while I sat in place, traumatised by the sheer power of the one lone Wisp. We were both devastated that we lost our parents, however, we were thankful for their sacrifice, as we all knew they loved us, and that if we were any heavier, the chopper would not take off in time, and would kill us all in one fell swoop. As we ascended higher and higher, tears streamed from my very eyes as I witnessed the horror that played before our very eyes. The Wisp approached, and in one swing of it's hand, sent a surging wave of flames in the direction of my parents. My world faded to black.

I woke up on my bed, breaking out into cold sweat from the terror that was 5 years ago. I was ten back then and the memories… no, nightmares won't go away. Currently, there are approximately 100 billion Wisps out there throughout the world. Despite the fact that that many Wisps should have wiped out humanity. Luckily, magnetic fields can kill them, and that is how human civilization is still thriving. Of course, this is still a war, and many enforcers have to risk their lives to help lower the number of Wisps before there are too many to bring down.
