Trust is a fickle Thing

Flicking the blood off my blade I walked towards the group my bloodlust still pouring out and my devilish smile still dreading more.

'I ended her quicker then I thought,' I thought.

"Whats the shocked faces? Let's get moving," I chuckled walking towards the coordinates to the eye of Helio's.

"Yeah what he said," Jack gulped walking next to him.

Making our way towards the eye of Helio's we were met with the giant laser. The giant laser seemed to be output by a giant ball of some sort. The beam looked similar to a purple haze with every shot causing a large quake everywhere. Surrounding the laser was three control panels.

"This is where the magic happens baby!" Jack smiled.

"What is that?" Claptrap asked confused.

"That is what makes the Eye of Helio's work... And it's awesome. It's basically the core of the entire weapon. " Jack stated.

"How could can that thing generate that much power?" Roland asked.

"Let me show you," Jack stated walking up a few stares and up to the deck above.

"There she is. Hey Pumpkin. You in there?" Jack asked before a large eye escaped out of the spere. The eye was massive was a slanted iris similar to a reptilian.

"What the hell... Is that?" Roland asked before being interrupted.

"That is the eye of Helio's or the Eye fo the destroyer creature which came out of the vault. I basically took its corpse and strapped it to my laser multiplying its power by tenfold, cause I'm just that awesome. *Fake cough* *Fake cough*," Jack stated.

"Oh and Dracule I forgot to give it to you but this is what Gladstone wanted to give you," Jack stated chucking me a ring.

"Interesting, say what happened to Gladstone anyway?" I asked causing everyone to go silent. Although I knew what had happened I still wanted to see how jack would reply.

"He told me there was a traitor among our midst. I dealt with it accordingly... let's get this show moving," Jack explained.

"You used the destroyer's eye as a weapon?" Lilith asked.

"The eye fo destroyer was always a weapon everything Erdian is a weapon. Well, most of it. I just used its power for my own use," Jack acknowledged.

"Anyway... How do we shut this thing down?" Jack asked.

"Carefully that thing right there is a highly volatile reactor, even ignoring the giant ass eye. You're feeding it something that amplifies its power aren't you?" Moxxi questioned.

"Oh, uh, runoff from the Erdian refinement process. Some of the scientists call it "Slag," Jack answered.

"Alright -- Do EXACTLY what I say and everything should be fine. Switch three of the flow sequencers to their prime positions and then reverse the power differential." Moxxi explained.

"You're gonna have to explain it in laymen terms," I stated.

"Press the thingy until you see purple, then press the thingy again," Moxxi explained.

"There we go. Not so hard," Dracule smiled making his way to the three control panels. Pressing the panels a purple container in front switched colours before turning a purple hue similar to the laser fired. Pressing it for the last time it was slowly injected into the eye. The eye reacting screamed which caused mild confusion.

"Eh, Mox, I only feed the eye a little bit of slag juice at a time. Are you sure-," Jack asked before being interrupted.

"Trust me Jack it won't hurt the eyeball -- Trust me, sugar." Mox calmed. Moving onto the next Panels the eyeball continued to scream before eventually laying down on the ground exhausted similar to a fat kid having his one-hundredth big mac in a row. Looking at the eye it purple haze turned into a natural green. It was strange, to say the least.

*Warning. Space-time instability detected. Entering protective mode.*

"See just like I said. With that fail-safe tripped, we can reboot the laser and then the laser will be all yours," Moxxi seductively stated.

"All you have to do now is go to the Control panel above and reboot it." She continued.

"Well then, The laser is down and my paycheck is fast approaching. So jack about those terms..." Dracule asked.

"Of course, oh and don't touch the reboot button. You and I will go to the command centre from there we can discuss your contract. I don't want to be anywhere near the laser just incase it act up," Jack explained walking to the elevator.

"Thanks to the failsafe, it couldn't possibly do anything other than shutdown

"Safety is the number one priority," Dracule stated following suit with the other vault hunters.

Reaching the command centre me and Jack sat sending a contract between us.

"Once I get hailed as a hero and am rehired by Hyperion I'll fulfil my end of the contract since right now I'm kinda fired. I could reassign my resources but with my savings, I won't be able to pay for all of you. So, for now, let's just get this laser back in order. If you can also support us in securing the vault I'll chuck in Claptrap's freedom in there. Deal?" Jack negotiated.

"120million and claptrap's freedom?" Dracule asked causing Jack to be anxious.

"It's a deal then," Dracule smiled agreeing. Dracule shaking his hand made it to the panel.

"Man this feels great. The bad guys dead, and we're about to save the moon. All that's left to do is reboot this laser back up and secure the vault full of cool-ass alien stuff is all waiting for us down there. The fun is about to begin but first that laser. Press the control panel we should be able to start it back up now." Jack explained. Nisha hearing him pressed down on the control panel activating the Reboot sequence.

*Activating Reboot sequence. Comand control set. Rebooting in...*

"Oh great, what now?" Jack sighed.

"Jack... I'm sorry," Roland apologised.

"I'm not," Lilith stated.

*Warning: Singularity detected*

'Betrayal is a fickle thing how funny,' I thought.

"Woah! What the hell." Jack blurted.

"Great job everyone." Moxxi congratulated.

"Wha--- The hell is going on Mox? What are you doing?" Jack questioned panicking his heart racing.

"What in the blazing sun is going on?" Aurila asked tumbling about.

"This is not good." Jack doppelganger stated as well.

The other vault hunters feeling the shake of the vault all started to panic as well. Others took it much better, especially Me who only looked down at Elpis with a cold glare. Putting my hands behind my back I looked down at Elpis and then to Pandora.

"Betraying you. Trying to kill you. Two things I should've done a long time ago, you power-hungry psychopath. You and your bunch of crazy, homicidal lunatics can go die. Especially the one with that sword." Moxxi spat.

"What do you mean Mean, Moxxi? How did you even--," Jack replied before being interrupted again.

"I've been watching you, Jack. Behind that smile, behind that Hero complex, there's something wrong about you. If you come down from Helio's alive a lot of decent people will come to regret it," Moxx stated before cutting her Comms off.

"No!No!No!Nooooooooooo!" Jack screamed seeing the front off his laser ripped off.

"Dammit, Moxxie I trusted you! Do you know what you've done Moxxie? You've killed us all!" Jack shouted typing through his main control panel.

"I think its funny seeing you think you've betrayed me Moxxie, Roland, and Lilith. Betrayal is only caused when one's trust has been breached. I never trusted you from the start... I'll leave you in a state worse than death. I'll be seeing you soon." Dracule stated be overheating their EchoDrives exploding them from the other side. Seeing the singularity in the sky flare up it bright light blinded everyone seeing it.
