Chapter 19 - Part 3

Pash could do nothing but nod at that. "I'll leave you both to it then. I hope it goes smoothly for you."

"Same for you, brother," the chevalar said with a fist to his heart as he saluted him away. Pash pushed his way back through the crowd, his heart beating wildly and his mind awhirl with thoughts.

It was not meant to happen like that. Not at all like that.

 "Woah, you've gone white," his master said as he drew closer.

"There's a dead man," Pash said, when he felt the questioning gazes of the others on him. At that, their interest immediately waned. It was not uncommon for a body or two to turn up once or twice a month, or so it seemed.

"Look sharp," Harkin said, jumping off the wall to his feet. Before the others knew why they were even doing it, they hurried to do the same, in a rather panicky sort of way.
