"We have a duty to keep something like that away from the city," Sol added, his face grim and hard.

"This is way out of our league," Harkin said. "We've already done our part. Far beyond what was expected of us, thanks to Ermos and his boy. Three hundred goblins and a few trolls lie dead because of us. We've bought time. We need to look for the opportunity to retreat. Dealing with this falls to someone like Mane… even then, I'm not so sure that he could manage."

"Boo," Ermos said, pointing his thumb down. "I'm stronger than Mane."

They weren't happy with his comment, from the looks on their faces, but at least now – after seeing the earlier display – they could not protest it.
