61 Chapter 61

I look at the familiar orange light in the distance. I know that light, and what makes matters worse, is that symbol. It was the symbol of Twilight Rune. I know this will happen, but seeing it in action is entirely different.

I can feel a huge power ready to burst and attack us as if a God is ready to smite us.

However, before the light falls into us, I can feel the Sun Rune on my forehead activate, and suddenly, the Twilight Rune disappears without releasing any beam of destruction. I can feel anger coming from Sun Rune, which does the equivalent of sneering before slumbering in my soul once again.

I can hear the others look at the light from the city in shock, and I decide to snap them out of their shock.

"What are you waiting for?! Charges! Charges!"

That seems to make them snap from their thoughts, and we continue our march.

"Move! Move! Come on! We are almost there!"

We continued to march as I blocked the incoming arrows with lightning and water on my command. Because of my constant training, I managed to increase my mana reserve even more, and I can control a lot of water and generate powerful lightning if I want to.

We continued to move, and when we were about a hundred meters away, I could see billowing black smoke coming from the city. I bark an order for our men to stop and watch the chaos happening on the wall and behind the wall in front of us.

Ah, it looks like Lucretia decided to begin her plan, huh? Even from here, we can hear the people screaming at the soldiers to evacuate because Godwin already set fire on the Northern side of the city.

We did not wait long before we could see one of the two gatehouses on the Southern side open up. We can see many people running out of the wall, and I make sure my men do not kill anyone who is running around. However, I make sure to yell loudly to my unit to kill anyone who dares to attack us first.

I can see Chiyome fighting a small army of soldiers on the wall who try to close the gate once again. Sadly for them, Chiyome is someone they cannot beat with mundane means. After waiting for another couple of minutes, we slowly march through the wave of civilians and take over the wall of Doraat.

It did not take long before we took over the entire city, and the only left was the northern part of the city where the fake smoke was coming from.

|3rd POV|

A group of people standing in front of a giant iron gate. They are the loyalist army, and the one leading them is Freyjadour, who looks at the gate in front of him with a frown on his face.

"The enemy seems to have barricaded themselves in the northern part of the fortress."

Dinn says as he looks at the gate in front of him.

"Hmph! What are they waitin' for?! Let's go put them out of their misery!"

Boz raises his halberd, ready to smash something as he shouts that word.

"Wait, please." Lucretia stops them. "That magic we just saw has me worried. If used in close quarters, it might be quite deadly."

"I will go."

The others turned around and saw Zerase walk forward with a frown on her face.

"Whoever is foolish enough to use that rune must be stopped. Stopped as quickly as possible. Frey, come with me."

"Eh, with her?!"

Lyon put herself in between Zerase and her prince.

"Hurry! This way!"

Sadly for her, Zerase does not accept any rejection and drags Frey before he can say something. Lyon chases after her, followed by Kyle, Dinn, and Boz.

Sialeeds looks at Lucretia and says.

"I'm going to go around back just in case. We can't afford to let them escape! Not with a weapon like that. I'll need a few soldiers."

"Okay, Lady Sialeeds, but be careful."

"Got it! You guys be careful, too!"

After saying that, Sialeeds takes twenty-thirty soldiers with her to the other side of the fortress. However, she doesn't know that Gerrald and Chiyome follow her closely. Gerrald knows what will happen in this scenario and wants to ensure that Sialeeds does not betray Frey Frey.

As they jump from one roof to another, they sit on the edge of the roof, waiting for something to happen. After a few minutes of waiting, Chiyome suddenly says,

"Someone is coming, Lord Master."

"Will he be able to sense our presence? No, Lord Master. I make sure no one from Nether Gate notices us."

"Good. Let's watch the show."

We can see a brown-haired man appear undetected, defeat the soldiers that come with Sialeeds, and make them go unconscious one by one. This man is Dolph, one of the most powerful assassins in the entire series and one of the few people Gerrald wants to kill or sell to the company.

After he is done with the last soldier, he looks at Sialeeds, who looks calm instead of fearful.

Gerrald can see a slight nervousness inside of her, but she stands proudly there without flinching.

"Hmph. What do you want?"

Dolph looks at Sialeeds for a few seconds to increase her nervousness before saying.

"I want you to join us. The prince cannot win this fight, Lady Sialeeds."

"Hmph. However, we already occupy this fortress, no?"

"This victory will only last short, Lady Sialeeds. You already know that we have the power of the strongest military on our side. Not only that, I know your heart desires, Lady Sialeeds. You want to make sure to fix the country, right? We can help you. Join us."

Sialeeds looks at him for a few seconds before laughing. In the canon timeline, she hesitates and thinks about the offer but still rejects it. However, it was enough for Dolph to make Sialeed betray her own nephew.

In this timeline? She laughs at that offer.

"You are a funny man. Are you not looking at the chaos among your ranks? Even the infamous Nether Gate did not know about the rumor and killing of the nobles happening inside your own territory."

Dolph cannot say anything to that word because it hurts his pride for not knowing anything within his territory.

"And you did not even notice there were people watching us. Right, Gerrald?"

Because of the waifu connection, Sialeeds knows when Gerrald is near her and knows she is in good hands from the beginning.

Having no reason to hide any longer, Gerrald dispels the spell Chiyome casts around him but orders Chiyome to keep herself hidden. She is his trump card, after all. Dolph's eyes widened when he saw Gerrald sitting on the rooftop.

Sialeeds smirks at Dolph and says.

"Your faction is the one at a disadvantage here, Dolph. I already have someone who can fulfill my dream. Tell Gazel that so he can stop thinking of marrying me. It's starting to creep me out."

Dolph wants to say more, but he can feel a cold and sharp thing touching the back of his neck. He can see ten ice spears ready to pierce him if he says more. He quickly takes out a smoke bomb and retreats.

His mission has failed, and it is time to retreat. As long as he can take the Twilight Rune back, it is not a one hundred percent failure. Sadly for him, Gerrald orders Chiyome to follow him so he can take the Twilight Rune because the Sun Rune wants her other parts to reunite with it once again.
