9 Scamming through the Quest

Tom and David discussed their plan for some more time before they decided to hop into the game for the entire night so they could attend university in the morning.

"You better level up quickly, or I might have to find a better mage", Tom smirked.

"Wait till I do my legendary quest; then I will be the best mage", David retorted. He had told Tom about the quest, and Tom had told him about his class as well.

"Tom had chosen the hidden class "Magic Swordsman", which was the same as his previous life. It is an epic ranked class, but it can be broken if Tom chooses the right subclass", David thought.

"I hope I get a nice class.", David thought. He remembered a guy who had gotten a mythical-level class, but it was related to cooking.

He quickly entered the machine and logged into Orion, finding himself at a cottage near James's house.

He opened the system again, checking the quest. "A Slime King is going to be at least level 15, and ideally, a party of players between level 5 to 10 should be able to deal with it. But I need to do it myself."

"I need to level up quickly", David thought. "As I haven't changed into any class, I won't get any skills on levelling up, and I might also lose some stat point bonuses. I need to bet my everything on this class."

David walked around the town before stopping in front of a mage shop. He entered the store, noticing that the young woman from yesterday had taken James' place at the academy.

"Hey there. I would like to buy some spells", David said.

"Oh, you are the player who went with Master James. How did it go?" the woman asked before taking a notebook from the shelf and giving it to David. "These are the spells that should be strong enough to defeat the slime king", she said, smiling.

"How do you know?" David asked her.

"Master told me a young man will come to me to ask for spells. By the way, my name is Rose", she said, smiling.

"Did he tell you something else? Maybe some tips for defeating the Slime King by myself?" David asked Rose while glancing at the catalogue of spells. He knew investing in lesser spells was useless, but those were the only ones he could use now.

"Also, give me a lesser lightning spell, " he said, handing Rose 10 copper coins.

"Not really. Master is a prideful man, and it is the first time he went out of his way to give you a class quest," Rose said.

"Do you know anything about someone named Master Rowe then?" David couldn't remember anyone who went by that name and was curious about that man.

"He is Master James' teacher. That's all I know.", Rose said.

"Do you know where a Slime King resides?" David asked. He knew Elite and boss-tier enemies spawned randomly, and there was no fixed farming spot.

"You should ask the residents of the town. They should have some information about the Slime King. The materials dropped from it are very valuable for these shopkeepers", Rose replied, smiling.

"Give me a staff made of something durable as well, then."

David left the shop with a spell and essential information. "He must be the real deal if he is the teacher of a level 70 wizard", David thought. He quickly opened his system and noticed his level, which had been level 1 since he defeated the Elite Slime.

[ Level: 1 (20/200)]

"Damn it, do I need to do the chained quest? It's a chore, but I thought I wouldwould get a class quickly. I also need to improve my favourability with these guys, " David thought.

He quickly accepted the Chained quest and looked at the updated interface of the quest.

"UGH! They are such a chore". But David was thankful that he was a meticulous nerd who did all these chore quests in his previous life. "I remember the rough location of the petals and the herbs. I already have the slime essence; I can get the Wolf Hide after hunting with Tom; as for rabbit meat, I know a tactic, hehehehehe", he muttered, making a devilish grin.

He quickly travelled towards the grass fields near the town, trying to remember the Chrisaria Herbs' location. "They were near the river, fuck, I cant remember". Suddenly, David saw a skinny kid with big glasses walking alongside the river.

"Fellow nerd!" he grinned, running towards the skinny kid. "Help me out! " he shouted.

The nerd looked at him with a confused expression.

"Would you like this Slime Core for Chrisaria Herbs? I need to complete the quest.", David said to the guy.

"the price for these Herbs is 1.23 Copper, whereas the Slime Core is for 11.95 copper coins. According to my calculations, you are trying to scam me, sir", the nerd said, smirking.

"Was I one of these guys?" David cringed. He removed his magic staff and smashed it on the player's head.

"Calculate again; there must have been some mistake. Maybe you were supposed to throw in some Luminara Petals as well", David said with the biggest smile he could muster.

"NOO!" the player shouted.

-smash-

"okay, I will give you the herbs."

-smash-

"Okay, okay! Stop hitting me", the guy started to cry.

"Good boy", David smiled.

[ You have obtained 10x Chrisaria Herbs and 10x Luminara Petals]

David left the poor guy he scammed there, ran straight for the Butcher's shop, and talked to the shopkeeper.

"Can you please give me ten rabbit meat?" he asked, smiling.

"Sure, the price is ten coppers", the shopkeeper replied, smiling. He handed the rabbit meats to David, who ran out of the store.

"Such a nice customer", he muttered.

Suddenly, he noticed that the kid came back running into the store.

"Sir, I got the ten rabbit meats you asked for. I had to work hard for these", David said, grinning.
