17 Smitten or Just An Obession

Rui Fei felt like he had finally hit the jackpot with this revelation. He was truly grateful that he had found this sewer rat. If it weren't for the crimes this man had committed he would have considered letting him go unscathed.

He grinned at the man before turning on his heel to leave. "Thank you," he said with some sincerity in his tone as he slowly walked to the door.

Seeing Rui Fei leave and the creepy looks coming from those two clowns on the other side of the room, the brawny man couldn't help but panic. His eyes widened as he unsteadily crawled over to Rui Fei.

With his hands clutched together pleadingly, he stammered, "Di-di-didn't you, you say you would le-let me go? I, I to-told you everything..... please," after taking a glance at the pair of brother and sister looking at him like he was a dead man.

Rui Fei didn't spare him a glance as he responded, "We all have to face the consequences of our actions and this one act of kindness doesn't fully repair your debt," before opening the door to leave.

The brawny man tried to hold the hem of his robe but he was suddenly dragged by the leg backwards. With his belly literally sweeping the floor he screamed, "HELP ME! SOMEBODY, ANYBODY..... AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!" with his nails clawing at the floorboards trying to hold on for dear life. But because his efforts were fruitless he was dragged back even losing a fingernail or two in the process.

Rui Fei didn't actually plan to kill him. He had his siblings do whatever they want with him and toss him out in the street when they were done. Rui Yewan took a step back and let Rui Li do as she pleased at her request.

Thinking of all the girls including her mother that were trafficked by this man and taken advantage of by her father she was merciless. She chopped off all his limbs including his third leg. She then tossed him out of the window into the street. Whether he survived or not would depend on whether his deceased victims could forgive him or not.

She casually wiped off the blood on her sabre and walked out like nothing happened scaring the shit out of Rui Yewan. He had on a pained expression with his hand on his crotch feeling the man's pain. "Note to self..... remember not to fuck with Li-er," he murmured as he looked down at the body lying on the ground like a CPR dummy.

"Are you coming or you plan on just standing there like an idiot?" said Rui Li wiping the blood off her cheek.

A startled Rui Yewan turned around with his hand resting on his family jewels thinking, 'I am coming just don't make me a eunuch.....'

Rui Li furrowed her brow and sneered, "What's your problem?" when she noticed his awkward posture. She rolled her eyes and stepped out of the room. When she entered the lounge where the old lady and Rui Fei where she found him blankly staring at that face veil like he was looking at some precious treasure.

This wasn't a surprise because he had done it countless times before. It's just that this behaviour was in no way normal but who in the world would have the balls to question Rui Fei. Well, all but one brazen idiot named Rui Yewan.

As always he walked in and said, "Dage just admit it... you are smitten," while pouring out some tea for the old lady who was reaching for the pot. She smiled at him showing her toothless gums and Rui Fei smiled back at her. He had benefited by consuming all her nightmares ever since they came to this hell hole which meant he was especially nice to her.

Rui Fei turned to look at him and said, "You are fucking delusional that's what..... she is our benefactor so we should repay her for her sacrifice."

"Deny, deny, deny... That's your policy, right? *Sigh, such is young love," replied Rui Yewan as he slumped on the floor. He sat with both his hands behind him propping his upper body.

"Wrong," said Rui Li throwing a nearby vase at him which Rui Yewan caught as he replied,

"Then please enlighten me. How else would you categorise such behaviour?"

Rui Li arrogantly lifted her chin with her arms crossed on her chest and said, "The answer is simple... obsession."

Everyone, "....."

The girl knew exactly what she was talking about from her exploits reading multiple romance stories. There wasn't pink bubbles hovering above her brother's head or a tender affectionate gaze when he looked at the face veil. It was more like an unhealthy interest that festered over the years.

It was like playing hide and seek with an obsessive person. Once the game begins they wouldn't stop until they find the person. She deduced that in her brother's head no one on this green earth could hide from him. And the longer it took for him to find her the greater his desire to find her.

The search might have started with the intention of showing gratitude and vow to return the favour but the longer it dragged on the objective changed. His ego had taken a hit and he wanted to prove himself. She had hit the nail on the head with her answer.

"Will see," replied Rui Yewan seeming sure of himself, "... so where to next?"

Rui Fei wanted nothing more than to change the subject so he gladly said, "Find out everything about the so-called Pirate King Ji....."

Somewhere in the middle of the sea, a sleeping Ji Wen felt a shiver run down his spine as his body broke out in goosebumps. Thinking he was getting sicker he tossed his brocade boot at the wall intending to wake Ji Yao up. The trick worked because Ji Yao came from next door in the very next minute looking groggy for being woken up.

"What now?" he asked with his hand on the doorknob. His long black hair draped down his back rubbing against the thin white inner robe giving the illusion that he was an angel fallen from the heavens.

"Is that a way to talk to the man that birthed you... argh, what did I do to end up with such a cold unfeeling son?" said Ji Wen channelling his inner diva ops.... I meant drama king.

No matter what era it was this species of human that is the Asian parent would always use the art of emotional blackmail to manipulate their kids and Ji Wen was no different.

'Who exactly did the birthing? My estranged mother or you?' thought Ji Yao but he wouldn't dare say it aloud otherwise Ji Wen's demands would upgrade.

Ji Yao heaved a sigh and walked in which was the worst decision because he was asked to pick up things that were within arm's reach for Ji Wen. The brocade boot he had used to throw at the wall was even further than what he needed.

As the saying goes one can't choose their parents neither can parents choose their kids so the two were stuck together. He was his father so he could only be tolerant though if it was anyone else they would have lost their rights to live already.
