12 Selene Vs Helios (Part 2)

[Music Recommendation: "Enemy" by Imagine Dragons - Arcane, League of Legends OST]

'How in the world did he—?'

"It's obviously the one with traps, right?" he said as if he had read the question in my mind. "You should learn to hide your traps in better places."

'But I already hid them in the most invisible places!'

"Ahh… your confused expression is really nice," he chuckled. "Give me more."

This guy… WRAAAA!!! I hate him!

With my line of patience snapping again, I gave him a murderous look. I then grabbed a handgun in my left hand and a knife in my right and aimed at him.

He aimed his gun back at me, and we started shooting each other while evading each other's bullets. From one room to another, we shot and evaded, followed pursuit, and attacked each other—each bullet barely dodged.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Whenever he got closer, I would kick him or punch him away. But he would easily block them and shoot me back, making it hard for me to evade them. But then again, I'm not that slow—I still managed to dodge them.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Soon enough, we were out of the tower and back to the open area. We used the rocks and other fallen building debris as shields from our attacks. When hiding, we would take the time to reload our guns, only to come shooting again, a moment after.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.

Half an hour passed with us pursuing each other. When we lacked bullets, we headed towards the place where they kept other weapons and bullets to replace the ones we had. Then, back to shooting and attacking each other.

In that timeframe, I started to breathe heavily and lose energy—lots of it. Meanwhile, he didn't shed an inch of sweat. How much endurance did he have? How come he's not showing an inch of exhaustion? Or was he just good at hiding them?

What's more… that confident smirk on his lips, and those eyes that look at me with mockery… it's freaking irritating! It's as if he's a lion playing with his prey! No, it's not "as if." He really was toying with me. He's not even using all of his skills. There were many opportunities he could have subdued me, but he just went on and mocked me.

"Is that it?"

"Oh, come on. You can do better than that, right?"

"This is getting boring. Should I end it?"

"Ahh… it seems like someone won't pass the test."

As much as I hated to admit it, he's too strong for me. The numbers didn't justify how vast the gap in our skills really was. How could I even win this impossible battle? I would have better chances with Captain Odin or Captain Freya. He's much stronger than them and more skilled! Why wasn't he promoted to captain level yet? These skills… it's too much for an agent. It's as if I'm fighting the younger version of Chief Zeus!

'No, Kim Ye-Ji. Don't give up. Don't be too pessimistic. You can do this! If you don't win this, you won't ever have a chance at that top 1 place. So don't give up! For your father!'

"Appa… give me strength," I whispered to myself.

Right. Everything was for my father. It was my obsession. And I won't stop until I get him the justice he deserves.

Those words that had somehow become my mantra over the years filled me with burning strength and determination.

Abandoning all my intellectual plans, I stepped out of the huge rock I was hiding from and decided to confront him. The heck with plans. It won't work on this kind of guy. I may not be as physically strong as him, but I have great flexibility and tact.

My raging eyes glared at him—like the predator I should be.

Probably noticing my aura, the smirk on his lips died down. Instead, he glared back at me with the same murderous intent, finally acknowledging me as an opponent instead of prey.

"Helios," I called his name. "Today… you're going down."

He chuckled and smiled like a psycho.

"Hah. I look forward to it."

WHOOSH!

With that, we lunged toward each other and fought with all our might. Our blows were heavy to the point I could hear the wind whooshing from our punches. He wasn't playing anymore… and neither was I.

Stab, block, evade, punch, dodge, kick, slash—on and on, our attacks came one after another. I grabbed and kicked him, trying to knock him to the ground, only for my leg to lose balance and fall to the ground myself.

He quickly sat on top of me, preventing me from getting up. I tried using my legs to lock on his head and turn the situation around, but he noticed it and sat lower to my thighs so I won't be able to bend my body and do as I planned. All while his hands fought mine to prevent me from stabbing him or shooting at him.

"Haah… haah… haah…."

Our breaths sounded heavy in the silent room. I could finally hear him starting to get exhausted. That meant I'm doing great so far.

I rested for a bit, then used all my strength to get out of my locked position.

"Not so easy, missy."

He then tried to hold both my hands with one of his so he could reach out for a weapon and end this. But I didn't let him.

"You won't get your way."

"Really?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.

Then, like the devil he was, he squeezed my wrists tight, and I—

"Aaaahh!"

It hurts. It really hurts… so bad. This f*cking guy…

"Arghhh!"

I bit my lips, trying to endure the pain. All while hearing him chuckle.

"Ha-ha. Go on," he said.

His expression turned into the sadistic person he was.

"Squirm for me."

Desperate to get out of the pain, I wriggled my body around, forcing my way out but still… I couldn't.

An element of surprise—I need an element of surprise to get out of this.

"Argh!"

Darn it. It really hurts. If this continues… my wrist might get fractured, and it would take months to heal it.

It was then, at the moment of my desperation, that I thought of an idea I would never have considered before.

Letting my hands on the ground where he locked them in position, I lifted my body instead and leaned towards him. Thinking I was planning to knock him with my head, he lifted his head to avoid me. Only, I wasn't aiming for his head.

With my mouth, I… I bit his neck.

At a loss from my actions, he flinched and looked back down at me, trying to free himself from my bite. But he still didn't let go of my hand, so I…

I kissed him.

With his eyes wide-opened, I kissed him passionately until the shock made him loosen his grip a bit. And even if he wasn't shocked by that, still, he needed to act surprised—we're supposed to be lovers, after all.

'This is what you taught me, Agent Helios. Be cunning and use everything to my advantage, right? How does your own medicine taste to you?'

At last, I got my chance to free myself, grab my knife, and point it at his neck.

By the time I let go of his lips, my knife was already touching his throat.

"Ahhh… this means I win, right? Agent Helios."

This time, I was the one who smirked at him.
