prologue

Greetings travelers from far and wide! Sit down and grab a drink, for I am here to grace you with a tale of mystery, magic, and adventure. The legend of a man with many names and faces. Of this tale you may have heard, but I assure you not one spoke true. This is the tale of the vitae empire!

It all began on one evening of the dead night. When not even a star can be seen in the sky, once every Millennia the world is plunged into darkness. this time a child was born, a boy with hair of shadows and bright eyes of golden embers.

But he was not born of clan, kingdom, village, nor tribe. No he was born in a small hut deep in no man's land. a place full of monsters and the banished.

The boy's mother slowly died as she held him, even as a newborn he could feel her life draining away, her heat and smile along with it. His father sat next to her with her hand in a death grip, not letting go even after she had passed.

A few moments later his father finally let go, but only because his mother's arms, no longer having life in them, went slack causing him to fall. His father caught him just before he hit the ground.

Looking down at the boy in his arms, his father smiled "you know your mother always called you our sun". Helios, His father thought, god of the sun!

"that shall be your name, Helios, son of Arkyn and Erling! you will be a strong warrior just like your mother" Arkyn stated happily, wiping a stray tear from his cheek.
