1 Awakening

"SH*T...….SH*T…...I shouldn't have chosen to work as a porter in the dungeon. I was too naive to think that the hunters would even care for an unawakened mortal like me."

Sam Xavier cursed himself, gripping tightly the training sword in his hand. He looked all around him and realised that he was in the midst of a skeleton army. Sam has nowhere to run now. All exits were blocked by the skeleton army.

"I guess this is how my life ends.At least I will take a couple of skeletons along with me. Oh....Sara….I am sorry. Your big brother won't be there to witness your future. I am glad I joined a Life Insurance Policy. Even if I die Sara will get the insurance money as she is the benefactor of the policy. At least she won't be short on money for a while."

Sam mumbled to himself. A skeleton soldier wielding a sword suddenly dashed from his behind towards him.As soon as the skeleton reached near Sam it slashed his sword horizontally aiming at Sam's neck. His head fell to the ground with a 'thud' noise. Head rolled on the ground before coming to rest.

Last sight that submerged in Sam's eyes was his headless body standing amidst the skeleton soldiers. Slowly light faded out from his eyes.

"What the f***? What the hell was that? Some kind of vision. It felt so real."

Sam unconsciously checked his neck to make sure that it is still there.

"Wait….Could it be….?"

Sam realised something and suddenly looked back. He saw a skeleton wielding a sword dashing towards him. Just like his vision. As soon as the skeleton reached near him it slashed Sam aiming at his neck. But only this time Sam knew where it was going to strike. He instinctively ducked down and the skeleton missed its mark and slashed at empty space.

Do you know the perfect moment to counter attack? The moment an enemy fails to hit you even after their decisive strike, that moment is the perfect time to strike back. Being a vivid practitioner of martial arts Sam knew all about it.

Without wasting time Sam jumped upwards with all his might slashing the skeleton vertically from bottom to top with his training sword. Skeleton let out a final scream and turned into dust. A colourless orb flew from the skeleton towards Sam, sinking into his body. Sam became surprised due to the sudden turn of events. But soon regained his composure.

"Oh...So that is how it is. Thank you God for giving me another chance at life….. Thank you...…...My power has something to do with future prediction. I should check it first before I go all out. 'One should always be aware of their own strengths and weaknesses before fighting an enemy.' That is what my late grandpa used to say when I was learning martial arts from him. I heard someone saying that after one becomes an awakener they can see their status in their consciousness by concentrating. I don't know the validity of that information but there is nothing wrong in trying it out."

Sam concentrated hard enough and words began to appear in his mind.

"Vision….ha…..That is a really convenient skill for combat. I can't wait to experiment with my skill. But before that I must overcome my current predicament..... Attribute points must be used to level up the attributes and skill points must be used for evolving the skills…..Hmmmm….if that is the case how should I distribute my attributes. Vision is a passive skill and it doesn't require any mana. So for now it is useless to spend points on mana. Ok….. then I will evenly distribute points on strength and vitality."

With a thought in his mind he distributed the attributes points. With the increase in his strength and vitality his fatigue and wounds began to recover.

"Wow…..this feeling is godly. Let me confirm my status once again"

As soon as he checked it out, another vision appeared in his mind. A skeleton standing in front of him throwing 5 daggers aiming at 5 of his vital points. But this time in his vision something unexpected happened. He could see himself catching the 5 daggers with his bare hands.

Just as the vision ended Sam became surprised.

"Oh…...if that is the case, due to my increased status even without using 'Vision' I can catch those daggers. That is really reassuring."

Just as his thoughts ended, 5 daggers came flying at him. He skillfully caught all the 5 daggers.

"I don't have any dagger throwing skills. But I think I can do it with my skill 'Vision' All I have to do is look 15 seconds into the future and execute that one throw that will strike. Ok….let us try that. I can see 15 seconds ahead within a nano second. So that means I can see 1 billion possibilities of the future that are going to happen 15 seconds ahead...… Damn…...Is this skill a little bit overpowered?"

He activated the skill and looked at all the 1 billion possibilities of future lying 15 seconds ahead. Out of all those possibilities there is a single optimum possibility.

He threw all the 5 daggers in a particular angle and with particular rotation. All the 5 daggers followed different trajectories and began to cut the skeleton soldiers surrounding him and turn them into dust. And eventually all the 5 daggers returned back to him like a boomerang. He repeated this process with astonishment and surprise a few times. At last he finally stopped. But by that time all the skeletons turned into dust.

"This skill is definitely OP." Sam mumbled to himself in a surprised voice.
