King Max? part 2

The next actions were very swift. Alisher and Peter called for all of their soldiers at one of the bigger fields of the capital. Thousands of guards and soldiers stood tall in orderly rows and waited for command. 

Max looked at the troops and nodded. Then he said: "Guards and soldiers we have gathered here for a few reasons. As you know the king died and now, I am in charge. There are going to be big changes happening at the country like you heard before. I will be releasing the cultivation techniques for the population after we finish with the siege fight."

Max planned to do it for a simple reason. He did not want people to take those techniques and run for their lives. If they wanted to get something they needed to stay and fight. Generally, they did not really need to fight. Just stay and go through the siege together. Going through hardships helps the citizens to get more connected to the ruler if he will do what he needs to do right. 

Max continued: "We will make tests for a lot of you in the gaming club. I have inspection skill that shows me your power level and if you have talent for knight and magic training but we need to check it in the gaming club to see your talent level. We are at a time of crisis. I will choose up to 900 knights and 100 people with magic talent. Those people will become a knight level figures and apprentice mages in the next few days. How am I going to do it you ask? I will use alchemical products to increase your progress level drastically. For the knights candidates the priority will be on the people with high apprentice knight level or high level of talent. For the mages it will be an aptitude to one of the elements. Not all mages have aptitudes to the elements."

Max needed to explain things to those people. They could not read his mind. He also needed to show hope for the ones that will not get anything for this.

"We will sell for the people alchemical products to increase the speed of progress and the chance of breakthrough for apprentice knights and mages. After some time the same products will be released for knights. The products of apprentices will work on knight and mage level figures but the effect will be drastically reduced." Max said.

The guards and soldiers were excited. They felt that if they will get chosen or not they could benefit. They could get something they will never have access to. Only nobles could hope for those products. Not simple soldiers like them. Commoners did not have any real rights.

"Also like I said before there is a new rule. I don't care about your origins. I am a commoner as well and now I am a king. I care only about hard work and good attitude. The people with the best abilities will take positions of power." Max proclaimed. 

If the reaction before was positive but still quite here it was met by an roar of the soldiers. It was a roar of happiness. The people felt that they were released from slavery. A commoner that become a king. That was crazy. 

Max started to test people and put some of them aside, while letting the others come back to their places. He told them to keep those papers they got. It was their data about their aptitude for knight training. It will be a shame to make the same test twice. 

Max took aside people with medium talent at least or at the peak of the knight apprentice level. The one hundred and seventy people from the guards and army were taken aside right away. It was expected. They had a high chance to get to a knight level with enough resources. 

Max got the data that from the fifteen thousand knight apprentices only around one in a half thousand people had medium level aptitude. It looked like even some of the people with no apprentice knight level had higher talent than average. Max said that those people that are chosen will have to make a vow to follow his orders and not go against him or the country as long as he is alive. This was reasonable and because of that the chosen people quickly accepted and the 900 knights were assembled from those forces. As for the mage candidates. There was a problem. There were more than 120 people with magic talent but only 20 had aptitude towards an element. It was frustrating. All soldiers were men. Max got the idea that he needed to try and recruit citizens for his mage powers. Max also took in account the brats he had. They were already at the first level of apprentice knight. It was better than most people already. With their ability to battle and it will be good for the future fight. Max had 6 future mages with talents. They were all girls. Max needed 74 more people. He will have some from the commoners of the city. 

After finishing with his plans Max told Peter and Alisher to send those people to the palace, bade his farewell to everyone and left. He organized a meeting with the people of his country. The announcement was very simple. 

"I, king Max will come to the main square of the capital to pick up people with magic talent for the coming fight. If you will be chosen you will have a free aptitude test and if you will pass and agree to serve under my orders a level of mage apprentice is guaranteed to you. There are no requirements in terms of origin. I don't care if you are a commoner or a noble. I only care about talent and hard work!" Max screamed over the city, amplifying his voice with life force and magic powers. 

This caused huge waves over the capital. People left their jobs and just headed to the square. The city was not small. Over a million people lived here. Max looked at the square and after a short time he said: "I have an appraisal skill that see if you have talent for magic or not. If you are not chosen and I tell you to leave please leave and get an option to other people to get selected. You can rest assured that I will not miss anyone with magic talent."

The people were excited. They obeyed the new king that were giving them cultivation techniques for free. It was a sad thing to lose a grace of such person. The masses complied. Max did not have any guards. He did not need any guards. He could crush huge amounts of normal people with no problems. The people were surprised at first because the king was all smiles to the people but it was from a safe distance. Not face to face. Max started walking around the masses and pick people. He stopped only when he got around 250 people. He than started checking. them. Max got 10 more men and 64 more women in his mage troops. Those people had higher talent or had the ability or the resolve to fight. Of course all of them had aptitude to a magic element. After that Max looked at the rest of the disappointed people and told them: "For the people that have magic talent but were not selected. Please come to the palace after the end of the battles. I will invest in your growth in the future to become the pillars of the country. As for the rest of the citizens. I finished picking the candidates for mages for today. As for the knight techniques. They will also be released after the fights. The victory will be ours!"

After that Max took the selected people and left while the crowd roared in cheers. All of the chosen people were commoners.
