A young blond boy , looking no older than 8 is standing in the middle of a pond moving in tai-chi pose. Many fishes in the pond are moving to the boys movement as if they were an orchestra and the boy their conductor.
This boy is Inoki Yamanaka a branch family member of the famous Yamanaka clan of konoha. Inoki had a past-life as psychologist who specialised in hypnosis therapy and criminal psychology on planet Earth in year 2025.
In his past life he used to use his hackerman skills and his knowledge of psychology to help CIA. So it was really fitting that he got reincarnated as part of clan known for their interrogation techniques.
After 8 years of living in konoha, he was already considered a genius and had already skipped ahead a year in Ninja academy. His talents in his family jutsu is where his true genius lie though. As seen by current scenery as he is using his family jutsu to mentally command the fish with gestures.
He makes a sudden moment, bringing up both his arms in fluid motion, causing fishes following his gestures to jump out of the pond and into another much smaller one. The big pond is his family's main sourse of income.
The ecology in it is maintained to create best results for various underwater plants that grow in it. These plants are then harvested for their market value in making healing balms, poisons and various other medicin. While the main branch controls the supply of plants that grow on land, inoki's family handles the supply for underwater plants.
Currently, Inoki is collecting the fish in smaller pond to maintain balance in the bigger pond and to sell the fish for money. Coincidentally, their family is also the largest supplier of fresh water sea food in konoha.
The smaller pond is situated higher on ground with thick glasss walls and has a stall next to it standing at the same hight
Today was Sunday , hence Inoki had a day off from the academy. He wanted to play with his friends in the afternoon, so he decided to do some extra chores for the house in morning.
After he did similar mind bending of some carbs and lobsters, sending them to different smaller ponds. Then he took a shower and got ready at the stalls near smaller ponds. His grandfather was already sitting at the money counter as they greeted each other and opened the gates for their customers.
At this time in the morning, near sunrise, most customers are restaurants supplying themselves for the day. Inoki packs the fish however the customer wants them throughout the morning.
Whenever he has free time, he starts cutting the fish and salting it for smoked fish. Smoked fish and crab/lobster jerky are some of their best seller, since it can last long without spoiling and are easy to pack. They have a signature blend for flavour and charcoal that not only makes it taste good, but also makes it smell like sand to disguise it's smell during mission.
At around 11 am , he is greeted by my two friends, Sakura haruno and my cousin Ino Yamanaka . Inoki's father, Jukino takes the next shift as he waves them goodbye. They reach hyuga clan gates and are greeted by their other friend hinata hyuga and her bodyguard.
Inoki POV
In this universe, Naruto never got the chance to defend hinata as I took his place , securing hinata's heart. Soon she became part of my friend group with Ino and Sakura who were smitten by my good looks, tallent and approachablity.
At some point the ladies had a fight declaring they loved me and tried to exclude other two. I had put my foot down back then, telling everyone that they are not qualified. The person I'm going to fall for will be super strong and none of them come close. I tell them about the story of lady tsunade ,the sannin.
I even planted the seeds of confusion in Ino and Sakura by saying that if they are so vain for good looks, they should marry each other, complimenting both their beauties.
When they commented on how they admired my charisma and ninja talent, I replied that I would want atleast the same talent atleas in my partner,just like them. Once they both start admiring each other for their ninja talent, I will want them both as my partners.
Although hinata didn't like me because of my looks, I made it clear to her that whoever I end up with should not be a burden who needs protecting and should be the one protecting me instead. I'm Feminist that way.
After i had skipped the grade and left their class, it became clear to them that I meant everything i said, if they cannot keep up, they will be left behind. That put a fire in their bellys, making them work hard and study hard for their ninja academy.
Today's plan was simple, we go to the park and play around. During our play i tell my friends that am planing to graduate this year. They were all shocked and Sakura started crying how the gap between them is only increasing no matter how much they train.
I tell my friends that since I've been training at the hospital as volunteer for 6 months, I have gotten the approval of head of medicine to become a gennin specialising in medicine.
He didn't give that approval lightly. 6 months ago, I had seen hana inuzuka came to pick her brother kiba and heal a minor cut he got while playing. I got near her as she was using mysticpalm jutsu and said " Sugoi ! nee-chan, are you a medic nin. Like lady tsunade, I also want to become a medic do you know how I can? ".
She explained to me how she is a veterinarian, specialising in healing animals. If i really wants to be a medic, she can open some opportunities for me. She helped me get into the volunteer program. Which led me to getting approval from head medic.
I tell my friends that next year, they can also participate in the volunteer program, but they will need to meet the criteria. I told them that they all have the smarts, and talent to easily get into the program. I tell them how the program has helped me learn a lot and will surely be great experience for them if they choose to participate.
6 months later I graduated from the academy, and start my new job as full time medic gennin. I had forgone the normal team assignment for a steady job at the hospital. I still took on some D rank missions from time to time to build up my resume, as recommended by my seniors in the hospital.
Becoming gennin truly allowed me to learn as much as I wanted. I started learning seals (fuinjutsu) for both it's medical and non medical uses.
I had spent a lot of my money earned from the hospital to post missions for chunin and jonin to train me. Kuranai had accepted my posting and started training me with Genjutsu.
Similarly a chunin named lee-chun accepted my posting regarding Fuinjutsu. I also created a "chance" meet-up with Might Guy while jogging before sunrise, he kept praising me for my power of youth and I convinced him to guide me with physical training.
I was a fast learner and progressed swiftly in my skills, impressing all my teachers and gaining their respect. By the time 6 months had passed since I became gennin, I had even created a few Genjutsu and seals of my own.
The Genjutsu required some research into mind that I had gained from clan, hence before showing it to the hospital, I showed it to my clan head, Yamanaka Inoichi. He was very impressed, specially with the fact that I hadn't implemented any of our clan's jutsus to achieve the effects. Only the research on mind itself.
With his permission, I introduced the Genjutsu : Anesthesia to hospital. It tricked the target into ignoring pain. With mastery of this Genjutsu allowing one to control how much pain is reduced. Main weakness of this jutsu is that it requires contact with the target to activate.
Another big weakness is that it is incompatible with chakra scaples and chakra therapy. It is not instantly broken, but gradually, the interference in chakra system due to these treatment techniques disturbs the Genjutsu.
But despite this, it was greatly recived by the hospital. It didn't put target to sleep while numbing the pain, making it great alternate to pain numbing medicin for post operation recovery. It can even help a ninja train harder by ignoring the pain, but that has it's own risks.
I got much more recognition from higher ups 2 months after creating this Genjutsu, when i created Fuinjutsu : Genjutsu tag. It was born from my unacceptance of the weakness of my orignal Genjutsu.
With this Fuinjutsu, when I channel my Genjutsu through my Fuinjutsu : Genjutsu tag, it remembers the Genjutsu's energy sequences and works to stabilize Genjutsu in case it is disrupted. This allows chakra therapy and chakra scaples to be compatible with my technique.
Everyone really understood the potential of this technique when i gifted a special scaple to the head of the hospital. It was made of chakra metal and had a custom seal of Fuinjutsu: Genjutsu tag. I had already been using chakra storage seals to tune the Tag to Genjutsu: Anastasia.
If a ninja uses weapon techniques like chakra flow or other techniques like chakra scaple, it automatically activated the tag, using small fraction of the chakra used to cast Genjutsu: anesthesia.
I had tuned it such that user of the scaple doesn't have to cast the Genjutsu , it automatically gets cast when the tag is activated by chakra. I named the scaple "NUMB".
It cost me a lot of money, but seeing that it was a gift for konoha's top doctor who holds high position in the village as well, my family decided to help me finance it in the name of networking.
The head doctor realised that this scaple can be used to kill a Target, without Target even realising that they were attacked. With techniques like chakra scaples, a ninja could even cause internal injuries without Target being any wiser or leaving any visible proof of attack.
He instantly brought it to Hokage's attention. Claiming that for a sneaky assassin, this scaple is equivalent to one of 7 swords of mist. The Hokage called on me for a meeting.
It was a tense meeting with itachi's performance still fresh in everyone's mind. It was not a good time to be a genius, specially at young age. People often looked at me as if I was broken somehow for choosing to become a ninja at such a young age. Thank God i choose to specialise in medicin, sweetening the prospective a little bit.
But creation of this weapon NUMB might make everyone uncomfortable. I argued that Numb was not a weapon to kill, but a tool to save lives. It was it's owner that defined it's purpose. In hands of an assassin, it might be a great weapon. But in hands of the head of the hospital ,a renowned doctor, it was a tool to save lives.
I hit home the point by saying that the weapon is not even that special, I can achive same result without addition support of either the scaple or Fuinjutsu. I showed them how after completely mastering the Genjutsu: Anastasia, i don't need to use hand signs to cast it.
This allows me to use chakra scaples technique on my hands, turning my fingers into scaples, while allowing the Genjutsu to flow into the fingers, making any cuts from it painless.
Both Hokage and the Head doctor look like they suddenly value the scaple a bit less. But they understood that mastery of a ninja technique is rare, even for the most basic techniques. So the tool is still useful, specially when it uses such a unique technique.
The Hokage jokingly tells me that with such a technique, i should have been one of his anbu assassins. To impress upon him my seriousness regarding ninja life, I asked him to check my mission log.
The Hokage was stunned to see that 60% of my missions are the same, to assist an old akimichi bucher with morning rush. I told Hokage that I've been killing fish since I could remember but I still had been taking the bucher missions to get used to killing and blood.
"If the Hokage has a target for me, I will give my everything to achive the mission." I said with conviction. I had suddenly turned hokage's joking modd into a serious one. He asked me "why become a doctor of i plan to kill anyway ".
I tell him "We are taught in the academy that a ninja kills to protect its Village and it's interests, I have no illusions that I will never kill. Even my idol, your student lady tsunade was a killer of great renown, despite being the greatest medic."
I continue after a pause " I would personally rather rescue Allies than fight enemy. But if no one is fighting the enemy than there is no one to rescue. So i make sure that I'm capable of both fighting and rescuing."
The Hokage was mighty impressed with me . He asked me curiously " What do you think is a quality that a medic should priorities compared to a fighter". I didnt even hesitate to answer " SPEED" as if I had already meditated on this question forever.
" Speed , reaction, intiative. Whatever one may call it. It is the most important quality. For a rescuer, it allows one to reach their patient swiftly as even second can be the difference in life and death. For a fighter, it allows them to dictate the tempo of the fight. For both situations, it allows one to retreat quick if circumstance allow, living to LICK THEIR WOUNDS and FIGHT another day"
Becoming impressed by me, the Hokage asked me to participate in this year's chinin exam, it was being held in konoha. I only mentioned my lack of team, but Hokage dismissed it, saying that there are plenty of single gennin who find teammates for exams.
He pointed me towards the head doctor that his nephew kabuto was also taking his second chunin exams this year. Remembering this, the head doctor proclaimed that he will ask his nephew to recommend someone, "that lad seems to have information on everything" he joked.
