Chapter Seventeen

"I hope you're happy." I glowered at Kai. We ambled down the sidewalk as the street around us slowed and decreased its amount of people. Kai flipped through the cash he earned carefully. "You've got to earn some pocket money, and I'm about to be scolded for being late to work again."

I gave up hope that I would make it to work in time anyway. I ended up calling out, and surprisingly, Staci was okay with it. I was just upset that I had the option and time to get there, but because I was practically babysitting two grown men, the circumstances prevented me.

Kai stopped walking, and I halted in my steps. He folded the cash in half and handed it to me. "I am more than happy."

"What are you—" Kai grabbed my hand and placed the cash inside. His warm hands sent shivers down my spine.

"I am satisfied with my efforts, and I wish for you to stop sulking." He poked me in my cheeks. "Do not show animosity towards Arthur anymore, he means you no harm."
