"How could it be..." Patriarch Qin mumbled, almost having a heart attack yet again.

Cece was the most shocked. She had covered that silk cloth over the jewel herself. After that, it had been tightly guarded. How could it have disappeared?

Madam Qin was still awkwardly holding the white cloth while Livian thought about what kind of explanation to give the guests.

Something flashed in Leo's eyes.

The guests had already started asking questions and gossiping.

What happened? Why did Mrs. Qin showcase an empty jewelry case?

___

Later, in Jade Mansion.

Patriarch Qin glared at his three sons.

"All you useless punks! You are useless! All too careless. How can such a thing happen to our Qin family? What were the three of you doing?"

"I wasn't present." The third son, Cedric, said in his defense."

"You!" Patriarch Qin wanted to knock him dead. "I can't believe you think it's something to be proud of!

All of you, go right now. You have to get that necklace back!"

Although it was just a necklace and wasn't a big deal in comparison to the amount of wealth in the Qin Empire, it was still utterly humiliating for something to be stolen from the Qins in such a high-profile way.

They had thought of how to explain the matter to the guests and decided that calling it a prank would be way too overboard. Each of those guests were important figures in the capital. Wouldn't it be slapping their faces if they played a joke on them at a banquet?

In the end, they had decided to come clean and say that the Heart of the Goddess had been stolen.

Unfortunately, the number of guests who actually believed it was another matter altogether.

Some of them still hypothesized that the Qin Empire didn't have anything to show, or that it was not impressive enough, so they had come up with such a lie.

Just the thought of it made Patriarch Qin fume with anger.

"What are you waiting for? Go!"

"Father, calm down. Your health is most important." Cece coaxed.

She was the youngest child of Patriarch Qin as well as the only daughter and he doted on her like a treasure. As soon as she said to calm down, he calmed down instantly.

In the end, the three brothers were kicked out of the house and would only be let back in if they found the Heart of the Goddess.

Cedric couldn't care less about what was happening. He drove off in his new sportscar.

Livian didn't know where to start looking.

As for Leo, he knew better than anyone just where that necklace was.

That woman!

She really meant it when she said that she would steal the Heart of the Goddess at the launch banquet!

Wasn't that too arrogant?

No, the main point was, there was such tight security. How did she do it?

Without wasting time, he sent a group of bodyguards to the residence of La Rose Noire.

...

In the least inhabited part of the city, there was a huge mansion. Various rumors encircled it, about a vicious demon that lived in the mansion. It was said that the demon would lure anyone who went within a hundred meters of the mansion and kill them in the most painful kinds of ways.

While everyone knew that such a rumor was obviously exaggerated and demons didn't exist, they still didn't dare to go anywhere near it.

That was why that part of the city was uninhabited, letting the mansion exist solo in many kilometers of radius.

That was the Mansion of Black, the residence of La Rose Noire.

In the living room, Shera Black played a game of chess with a young woman who looked naive and cute.

At this moment, a henchman nervously ran in. "Master, not good. There are many bodyguards... they said they are here from the Qin family and want to speak to you." The henchman was trembling. Just what trouble did their master court this time?

Shera Black raised an eyebrow then continued playing chess nonchalantly.

"They... they said that... if you don't come out or let them in, they would demolish the building." The henchman continued with sweaty palms. Why was his job so difficult?

Shera Black planted the chess piece on the board with a mini thud and shot a glance over. "Who dares to act so insolent?"

Irked, she waved for the henchman to let them in.

"What do you want?" she questioned in irritation as soon as the bodyguards were in her line of view.

"We are here to retrieve the necklace you stole from the Qin Empire." their leader confidently spoke, intending to scare her into submission. She was just a woman after all.

"Stole?" Shera Black tapped her armrest with her long manicured nails. Contempt was written all over her eyes. "You are saying that La Rose Noire needs to steal? Do I look that poor?"

"Since Miss Black is not poor, why did you steal?" another bodyguard chimed in disdainfully.

Shera Black leaned back in her sofa. "Do I need a reason to steal?"

"Hey!" The bodyguard was so angry that he almost foamed at the mouth.

"You should mind your tongue." that eerie voice continued saying. "I did not steal anything from the Qin Empire. I merely took what is mine. Don't go shooting your mouths off and accusing people of theft. That's impolite."

The leader's lungs almost exploded with fury. It was polite for her to barge into a banquet, cause such a huge ruckus and steal, but it was impolite if they accused her of theft? What was worse was that if they resorted to using force, they wouldn't be able to retrieve the Heart of the Goddess. He could only swallow back the fire in his throat and continue persuading the unreasonable woman. "How could you say The Heart of the Goddess belongs to you?"

"I say it's mine, so it's mine." Shera Black chided.

The bodyguards' faces contorted. "What kind of logic is that? If tomorrow I say that your father is mine, then will he be mine?"

"Go ahead and claim him. I don't care about him anyway."

"You!"

"You better give it back while we're still being kind." one of them threatened, earning a glare from the leader.

As expected, soon came the mocking reply. "If not? I wonder how you're going to be unkind?"

She didn't wait for them to respond before saying, "I would really like to continue entertaining you, but I'm busy. Show yourselves out.

Right. Tell that old fart that the Heart of the Goddess is mine. I'm already being extremely kind by not suing him for taking what's mine. By sending his men to disturb my peace and interrogate me, isn't he slapping my face? He better find and return it while I'm still being kind."

The leader was speechless. Who the heck interrogated you?!

In the end, the bodyguards had to leave after being tortured mentally.

The naive-looking girl, Purple, gathered her courage to ask, "Master, the Heart of the Goddess is the necklace we stole yesterday, right? Is it really yours?"

"I like it, so it's mine. Got any problem?"

Purple was speechless.

At this moment,

[Beep!]

Shera Black looked around. What just beeped?

[Beep, beep! Target located.]

Shera Black chuckled lightly. This was not a foreign statement. She had heard these two words in her head so many times that she thought she was having auditory hallucinations. Then she realized that they were called systems, and for whatever reason they had, they were trying to connect with her.

What did they think she was, some female lead from a novel?

More importantly, systems actually existed?

While she thought about it,

[Connecting with target...]

Shera Black couldn't help laughing. This was where the previous ones all failed and left as mysteriously as they came.
