Delores Caron (3)

Several days passed. Many of the kids were transferred to other homes. Only Lola and two other kids insisted on remaining with Mrs. Bai. After the foster home burnt down, they now lived in a smaller house.

On a calm afternoon, Lola sat on a bench in the garden, drinking strawberry juice from a tall glass.

No matter how long it took, Lola would never get rid of the guilt, pain and hate in her heart. She had actually saved the son of the enemy and in the process, her own sister died in the flames.

How ironical…

'I owed him a life. It was only right for me to save him.' Lola consoled herself with a sigh. She hugged the necklace around her neck through the fabric of her t-shirt. This was the only thing she had left of her mother. The diary had burnt along with all of her other belongings in the house.

She had nothing left of Mia.
