Enemies Meet Again

CREAK—!

Old Li swung the door open and saw Li Chen reading a scroll. He supported his chin with his right hand and drummed on the stone table while reading.

"I'll be back." Old Li flickered away. Li Chen's eyes gleamed and he made sure his master was far away.

'Finally! It's been three hours and I've been reading nonstop!' 

Thunder lifted her head and looked at him as he rolled his sleeves to his ankles and stretched.

[Thunder, get up. Let's spar,] he said softly.

'I need to test my current physique and evolved techniques.' Li Chen thought while he watched Thunder stand and flap her wings.

Tilting her head, Thunder made a sound, which meant he actually wanted to fight her.

[Come on, don't be afraid; I'm not even using my sword.]

Thunder's eyes flashed at the blatant disrespect of her strength.

'Good! She fell for it.' He chortled inwardly. A smug glint flashed through his eyes as he assumed a martial arts stance.
