7 07 - Dinner

About five minutes later, Daniel stood up after a short while of rest.

He didn't know if the needle had hit a certain nerve but his feet were shaking and he couldn't stand stably.

"This time, I came in a hurry and was not prepared enough but I have a set of custom-made needles at home. They are of top-quality. With them, I will definitely be able to save you."

"Thank you very much!", Linden was grateful.

"It's alright bro, no probs, no need to be so polite with me. Rest for now, I'll bring them when I visit you tomorrow." Daniel stood up and patted Linden's shoulder lightly.

"Why tomorrow and not tonight?" Linden didn't want to wait another day, he just wanted to get better as soon as possible and stop Laura and Rowan from getting any closer.

"Because I have to check my legs first. They don't feel right, I don't know what's wrong with them."

"..."

Linden opened his mouth and said wryly, "Hah... take care of yourself, brother."

"See you tomorrow!"

Daniel opened the door while limping, only to see Rowan by the door. 

Rowan then said in surprise, "Dr. Simmons, are you going back now?"

Daniel smiled and said, "Yes, Mr. Mills, I'm leaving for now. I'll come to meet Linden again tomorrow."

"Oh sure, you can go back and meet him whenever you want, he's your brother after all."

"Yes, we've always been together, he's like a real brother to me."

"Oh, if it is like that, there is something I want to tell you, Dr. Simmons."

"What's the matter, Mr. Mills?"

"It's like this. When your 'brother' was hospitalized here, I paid for the medical expenses and now that you are here, can you help me settle the bill? It was a total of around 50k USD, thank you." Rowan said with a bright smile.

Daniel: "..."

'Linden was right, he is really a devil.'

In the end, Daniel somehow managed to cough out 50k. Being a reputable doctor in the best hospital does get him some money.

After receiving the money, Rowan happily drove to the Crown's Hospital.

Laura was a little surprised to see Rowan and asked, "Why are you here?"

"You said you wanted to invite me to eat dinner. Don't be rude and take it back now."

"But you came too early, it's not time to get off work yet." Laura looked at the clock.

"Oh, alright, while you are busy with your work, I will sit silently for a while, don't worry." Rowan sat down with a smile and took out his phone.

Laura changed her coat and grabbed her bag, "Let's go!"

Rowan was surprised, "What about work though?"

"I don't need to work too much today. The things that bothered me the most have been resolved by you. Moreover, it's okay to be lazy for once." Laura said mischievously.

"Let's go then," Rowan put away his phone.

"Where are we going to eat today?" Laura smiled and asked.

"Follow me, and I'll take you to an affordable place, their food is delicious."

"Ok."

Half an hour later, the two reached a restaurant in the middle of an old street.

Laura looked at the surroundings and was very surprised, "I didn't expect you to come to such a place."

"Hmm, can't I eat here? This restaurant has been in business for 20 years and their taste always stays the same. It's excellent. Fortunately, we came early or we might not get a seat." Rowan laughed.

"By the way you are talking about it, you come here often. Tell me honestly, do you often bring girls here?!" Laura said in a 'fierce' way.

Rowan shook his head, "Nope, you are the first."

Laura felt a little touched when she heard it but the feeling soon disappeared.

"I would take the other girls directly to the hotel!"

Laura: "..."

"Haha, don't be angry, I'm just kidding! However, you are indeed the first woman I've brought here for dinner." Rowan looked serious.

With shyness and embarrassment in her heart, Laura panicked and said, "Whatever, I'll not talk to you anymore, I want to order some food!"

The two then started to order food for their dinner.

Both of them had a great time eating.

But after a while, Laura put down her tableware and said, "I'm full, you can eat whatever you want."

Rowan was surprised, "Why are you eating so little? Are you having a stomach ache again?"

Laura said resentfully, "NO, I just want to lose weight!"

Without much pondering on it, Rowan was able to crack that Laura was still hurt from the words he said to her yesterday.

And so, he explained, "Actually, I think it's not good for a person to be too thin. If you're like a bamboo pole, it feels like you would fall from a breeze."

Laura asked back, "Don't all men like thin women?"

Rowan shook his head, "I don't know about other men, but I prefer something perfect... Like you right now, it's just right. I, for one, like it very much."

Laura's heartbeat suddenly accelerated.

'Is this a confession?'

Wanting to hide her red cheeks, Laura tried to say in an angry tone, "You're neither my boyfriend nor my husband. How does it matter to you if I lose weight or not?"

"Not yet…" Rowan mumbled.

"Excuse me, what did you just say? " Laura asked.

Rowan quickly looked at Laura and replied, "Ah, nothing. I just said you would look perfect with how you are right now but yeah, your choice if you want to lose more weight." 

Laura listened to Rowan and after a few minutes, she bent forward and pulled all the surrounding dishes towards herself.

Rowan was shocked and asked Laura, "What are you doing?"

Laura grabbed the fork and said plausibly, "I'm going to eat more. I can only diet if I have enough energy for it."

Rowan nodded seriously, "It's very reasonable, I'll give you my chicken leg piece."

"Thank you. If I succeed in losing weight, you will have your credits."
