Chapter 5: Earning Trust

~Third POV~

After Blake left leaving Jae and Ruby themselves introduced each other they started to find their way to where the orientation is being helped while talking to one another.

Jae was the first to talk to Ruby in a curious tone as he spoke friendly to her, "Well then Ruby what are you doing in Beacon anyway aren't you a little young to be here?"

Ruby looks at Jae and is embarrassed at the question but replies in a nervous tone, "Hehe… well yeah I'm 15 years old, but the Headmaster let me join early skipping 2 years since he recognized my skill for stopping a robbery from Roman Torchwick."

Jae looks casual at the answer as he laughs internally at that remembering Roman being disappointed at the scene ruining his cred but spoke calmly at Ruby, "Huh… cool I guess you must have impressed him but how are you going to do all the advanced courses since the age difference let you skip 2 years of education?"

Ruby just froze at the spot at the idea of catching up to the rest of her classmates now since it was true, she did skip 2 years' worth of education.

Jae took note of this but didn't say anything since they pity the young huntress for she has a lot of material to catch up on.

Ruby regains her composure but cheers up again as she talked, "Ah! Well… I'll figure something out… Hehe…"

With that, the conversation has gotten a bit awkward so Ruby suggested showing their weapons in an awkward tone, "Um, so… I got this thing."

Jae saw Ruby's weapon has transformed from sniper rifle mode into a scythe mode in front of his eyes as he responded to it acting confused, "Is that a scythe?"

Ruby begins her explanation of her weapon with a hint of excitement in her voice, "It's also a customizable, high impact sniper rifle."

When Jae saw the transformation, he was acting awed by how it transformed, "Wow! that's pretty cool!"

Ruby asks Jae about his weapons in an excited tone of what his weapons were, "So what do you got Jae?"

Jae was actually shy to show it, but he revealed it Berserker the weapon he was holding as a pen but then turned into an ax as Ruby was more curious, "Well I have Berserker here it's a battle-ax infused with my aura to help get it better in damage input."

Ruby was quickly looking at the Berserker ax with excitement seeing the weapon changed from a pen into a battle ax as she responded to him, "Oh! That is so cool to change from a short inconvenient shape into bam boof big weapon!"

Ruby and Jae then began to talk to each other on friendly terms as he thought to himself in a malevolent tone, 'That was easier said than done with. Ruby is certainly easy to get along with. I hope Emerald is doing well teaming up with Cinder. Roman is so getting a lecture by Neo by now wish I could see it. Hahaha…'

While the two were talking they both have come to their destination as the two eventually reached the orientation where they separated their ways with Ruby going to Yang and Jae going off on his own.

While by himself Jae spots the spartan as he goes over there as he tries to introduce himself to miss spartan herself Pyrrha.

Pyrrha wore her red hair in a waist-length ponytail, curled slightly into a loose ringlet. She also wore light-green eyeshadow around the far upper corners of her green eyes. She was tall and quite muscular compared to most of the other girls at Beacon.

As a top, she wears a brown over-bust corset with a vertical strip of lighter brown in the center. Additionally, Pyrrha wore an elastic, black, A-line mini skirt and brown opera-length gloves on both arms. She wore a red ankle-length sash that wrapped around her skirt and she wears armor.

Jae approaches Pyrrha and says while waving at her in a friendly tone, "Hello there Miss I'm Jae Green it's nice to meet you."

Pyrrha looks somewhat surprised at Jae approaching her but replied regardless as she spoke back to her, "Ah, well hello there as well Jae, I guess you came here as well for orientation, and by the way I'm Pyrrha I guess you must have heard of yes?"

He just plays it off as confusion to Pyrrha's question and replies to her honestly shocking her as he spoke seriously, "Sorry should I know you? You see during my time in a hunting school I was usually busy increasing my abilities and not focusing much on other topics, so I do apologize if I never known of you before."

Pyrrha looks more shocked but is internally excited to make some actual friends with someone who didn't know, 'Finally I can make some friends with people my age! Also… the aura he holds tells he has some fighting experience interesting…'

With that, the both of them introduce to each other but Jae made sure as to not get emotionally attached to Pyrrha since he needs to make sure she has to go for the future

After that everyone listens in to the orientation from Ozpin, but Jae just sleeps it off since he wasn't interested in listening to someone who has no faith in others that fail each time to find a solution to his problem.

However, Pyrrha notice his behavior and gave him a slight nudge for him to listen, "Hey Jae you should listen to the orientation it's almost done."

While she was waiting for him to wait Jae just throws her off by saying his peace and leaving towards the rooms that have everyone sleeping together in, "Why bother listening to an empty defeated man that doesn't care about what we do. Well then see ya Pyrrha I hope you get a good night's sleep."

Pyrrha just looks more confused about what Jae meant by his words as she went ahead to the girl's side of sleeping arrangements, "Why bother listening to an empty defeated man? Was there some kind of hint that I don't get or something that Jae knows hmm…"

Every one of the students of Vale is now inside one of the building's largest rooms for them they are all wearing their pajamas or clothes to sleep.

Ruby was writing a letter to her father while Yang got to speak to her happily, "It's like a big slumber party!"

Ruby just makes her comeback with her response being disappointed, "I don't think dad would approve of all the boys though."

Yang just makes her comment known while eyeing the boys in the room, "I know I do! Perrr…"

Next Ruby explains to her sister that she is writing to her friends back at Signal Academy about her entrance into Beacon while discussing it's not fair that her friends are not with her.

Yang tries to lighten up the mood as she spoke confidently to her, "What about Jae? He sounds like a nice guy. There you go that's one friend that's a 100% percent increase!"

Ruby just replies to Yang in a negative tone expressing a deadpan tone, "Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend. Back to zero."

*Thud*

Yang tries to be positive at the situation which earns her a pillow thrown, "There's no such thing as negative friends! You just made one friend and one enemy."

Yang tries again to encourage her younger sister as she spoke seriously to her, "Look, it's only been one day trust me you've got friends all around you. You just haven't met them yet."

As everyone was getting ready to sleep Jae looked around he looks annoyed as he thought to himself, 'So the people of warriors fighting for humanity is a bunch of kids… yeah everyone is going to die a painful death. Hope Emerald does as she's told for now; I should hope for the best for her.'

With that Jae began to sleep for the night hearing the small fight between the argument between the four.

~Jae POV~

With that, I go inside to get my weapon from my locker I see that Nora and Ren are having their moment while I think, 'Now how do I exactly deal with them? I could earn their trust but maybe something else. Although they would have to go nearing the end of the RWBY volumes.'

With that, I listen over to what Ruby and Yang say eavesdropping on them, "So, you seem chipper this morning!"

Ruby agrees with her sister by saying to her in a hopeful tone of her voice, "Mn, yep! No more awkward small talk or getting to know your stuff. Today, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking."

Yang comments about the idea to Ruby about teams as I view the whole show's point of view, "Well, remember Ruby, you're not the only one going through initiation. If you want to grow up, you're going to have to meet new people and learn to work together."

I hear Ruby just groans at her Yang response as she sounds annoyed as she spoke back, "Ugh, you sound like dad! Okay, first of all, what does meeting people have to do with fighting? And secondly, I don't need people I drink milk!"

Yang just comments next about when teams form in a curious voice, "But what about when we form teams?"

I see Ruby is worried about the idea good thing I don't have to worry much about it since I know the greatest knowledge of the plot and the greater use of friends with benefits, "I'll just be on your team or something…"

I see Yang trying to help her sister grow out of her shell to be her person, "Maybe you should try being on someone else's team."

Oh, the wrong choice of words yang looks like the younger sister is not taking that well, "My dearest sister, Yang. Are you implying that you do not wish to be on the same team as me?"

Oh, Yang tries to defend herself from her own grave it's great watching this from the real-life sidelines seeing this drama, "What? No! Of course, I do… I just thought I don't know, maybe it would help you break out of your shell!"

After hearing where this is going, I decided to go ahead getting ready for the spot but as I was going, I happen to see the interaction with Weiss and Pyrrha starts so I decide to see what it looks like from a real-life point of view, but I also need to apologize to Weiss for yesterday.

I need to have a close friendly relationship with her when the time comes for me to use her to the best of my abilities.

Listening over to the voice of Weiss as she tries to talk to Pyrrha first in a confident tone, "So, Pyrrha… have you given any thought to whose team you would like to be on? I'm sure everyone must be eager to unite with such a strong, well-known individual, such as yourself."

Then I hear Pyrrha speak to Weiss with a clear hint of annoyance, "Hm… I'm not quite sure. I was planning on letting the chips fall where they may."

Here we go with Weiss the annoying typical rich kid privileged bitch with family issues. She will be a great pain to deal with in the future but at the very least she will be a profitable use for her using her family name when volume 8 comes around.

Acting for long years of being the normal and nice kid is a pain in the ass but at least I have to do it a while longer before the plot gets to any good parts and opportunities.

Weiss then begins to say her idea as she tries to convince Pyrrha for the team, "Well, I was thinking maybe we could be on a team together!"

I see Pyrrha jokingly say about Weiss's idea and here I thought Pyrrha wasn't funny, "Well that sounds grand!"

I didn't want to listen in to Weiss's idea of hers any longer I began to make myself involved so I just introduce myself again, "Yo! Hey there Pyrrha, it's good to see you again so how is your morning doing."

Pyrrha looks in my direction in a plead to get away from Weiss I nodded as I also needed to talk with Weiss, "You again."

When I see Pyrrha greets me ok just for that I will save you from this spoiled brat I mean was going to do that regardless to be in a good impression of me, "Nice to meet you, Jae, again."

While I greeted Pyrrha back I wanted to talk to Weiss as I acted naturally apologetic to her as I made my point being ugh kind, "Yeah the same to you Pyrrha. Now then Weiss I wanted to apologize to you since you apologize to my friend little red about what happened yesterday."

I see that Weiss looks a bit shocked about me apologizing to her, but I continue while I hold my hand as a sign of apologizing as I spoke in a fake sincere voice, "Since the initiation is going to start soon and if I fail, I at least don't want to make a mistake to at least apologize to you if we happen to be partners or not because of the uniqueness of the test. Also, on the off chance I get in, I don't want to start on the wrong foot when working as Huntsmen and Huntresses in the future that leads to us becoming problems in the future so how about we tolerate each other ok?"

I see Weiss takes the chance to at least try to take my apology like a mature adult as she talks back to me in a mature manner, "Well at least you apologized about yesterday and I may have been a bit troublesome yesterday with the kid to which it was unprofessional for a Huntresses like myself, so I accept your apology and accept bygones as bygones."

Huh… I guess when Weiss needs to be mature about something, she can be well then time to seal the deal, "Alright then how about we restart our introduction then, the names Jae Green the pleasure meeting you Weiss Schnee."

*RING**RING*

With that, I heard the sounds of the announcement being the sign that we all have to leave to the destination, "Well looks like it's about to start let's get going already."

With that, everyone in the locker room got already to start their initiation but I got to planning what to do next is by becoming Pyrrha's partner so that I can know the full knowledge of the plot.

Time for the waiting process to begin.
