Chapter 6

After spending the rest of the night with his family they both said goodbye to Makkachin and headed home.

Once they arrived at their house Yuuri hung his clothes up and changed into fresh pajamas and headed downstairs to find his father in the kitchen cleaning up dinner. "Dad?" he called as he poked his head into the kitchen and spotted him sitting at the kitchen table.

A small smile appeared on his fathers face when he noticed his youngest son standing in the doorway. "Hey kiddo! Did you have fun while you were out with your aunt?"

Yuuri shrugged lightly. "Yeah I guess. But I wish we could have spent more time together."

As soon as the words were out of his mouth a large grin spread across his fathers face. "Oh you know what we could do tomorrow? Why don't we come back to the house and you can show me your room and I can help set you up some stuff?"

"Alright dad." He nodded in reply before dashing upstairs to change. Once he'd finished changing his outfit he walked back downstairs and picked up his bag before heading outside to his car and climbing inside.

The drive back home was relatively uneventful. They drove through the streets for several minutes before pulling up to his house. After they parked the car he hopped out and made his way inside. Once he closed the door he headed up the stairs to his room to grab some things he would need.

After finishing setting up his bed frame, changing his sheets and putting all of his stuff in his closet, he climbed under his covers and fell asleep fairly quickly.

"Yuuri! Wake up!" His mother's voice yelled. He slowly came out of sleep as he heard shuffling and footsteps heading downstairs. When he realised he was probably already late his eyes shot open and his face turned red. Quickly getting out of bed and hurrying out of his room, he grabbed his backpack and made his way towards the bathroom.

"YUURI WAKE UP NOW!" His mother repeated once more. He groaned and threw back the blankets before stepping out of his bedroom and making his way down the stairs. "What time is it?" He asked.

"6:30 in the morning." She replied. "You have about thirty minutes before school starts so hurry up!"

Yuuri yawned as he walked into the kitchen. "Ok, thanks mom..." He mumbled, his attention drifting over to the clock hanging above the oven. He gulped and glanced around the kitchen before running to the front door and opening it as fast as he possibly could without slamming the door too loudly.

"Good luck on the test Yuuri!

7o stop them. So he really hoped this wouldn't turn out like that.

After about half an hour of lying in his bed with his eyes open and staring up at his ceiling he decided to get up and do something productive instead of laying in his bed trying not to cry. He got out of bed and grabbed his phone before making his way downstairs and towards his kitchen to make himself a cup of coffee.

His parents weren't in the kitchen when he got back but they were seated at the table having a quick discussion about something.

"...I can't do this anymore… We're getting older and it's been almost nine years… It's time for him to grow up." His dad sounded frustrated.

He heard his mother sigh quietly as she leaned back in her chair and pinched the bridge of her nose. "I know darling… I'm sorry. You're right." Her eyes shifted over to Yuuri who was still standing in the doorway unsure of what to do with himself. "Go take a shower sweetie. Your hair will dry quickly so you don't want to mess up your bangs when you wake up."

Yuuri smiled gratefully and nodded before rushing upstairs. Once he was in his room he stripped off his dirty laundry and set about taking a shower.

After drying off and dressing comfortably again he walked back downstairs and joined his parents at the table. He didn't bother saying anything, knowing that his parents would start the conversation soon enough.

He watched as his father opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. Finally he broke the uncomfortable silence. "Your mother and I wanted to talk to you about something important." He took a deep breath and looked at Yuuri before speaking. "We've been talking and we're going to ask you to move back home with us until you graduate high school."

Yuuri blinked confused. "Move in with you?
