Chapter 4

After checking the address of his new school, Yuuri started his walk over to his new residence hall. As he was nearing the end of the road he noticed someone standing in the middle of the sidewalk talking to a man standing a few yards away. Curious about who was talking with his brother and why they had stopped talking Yuuri slowed his steps until he was standing in front of them.

Upon realizing Yuuri was approaching they turned around and smiled broadly at him as they introduced themselves. "Hi Yuuri! My name is Makkachin, what's yours?"

"My name is Katsuki Yuuri and uh..." He paused for a moment to think. "I'm from Canada."

"Canada, huh? Where did you say you were from?" Makkachin responded inquisitively.

"New York."

Makkachin nodded his head in agreement. "Well, New York is nice! Do you go to school there? Are there lots of kids your age there?" Yuuri nodded in response. "Wow, I've heard a lot about your high school! Is it as fun as we all imagined?" He continued to question as they started walking towards Yuuri's new dorm building.

"Uh well… Yeah, I guess. I mean it isn't boring."

"That's what I like to hear! So, are there any girls that catch your eye? Is it a boy?"

Yuuri shook his head. "Nope not really... It's just me and my mom. Mom doesn't have any friends or anything."

Yuuri noticed a slightly sad look appear on Makka's face at hearing that and wondered what could have happened for him to be upset. Before he could ask he felt a hand grab hold of his arm pulling him to the side and away from his brother. He turned to look over his shoulder and caught sight of a very angry looking woman standing in between the two brothers with arms crossed in front of her chest.

"What in the hell is wrong with you?! Why didn't you answer our calls?"

Yuuri blinked at her in surprise and said, "I um… I forgot."

"You forgot? That's ridiculous. How long has this been going on for!?"

He opened his mouth but he was interrupted. "Mom! Don't talk to him like that! You don't even know anything about him and he's still here because he wants to help us! We just need more time-" A sudden flash of pain went through Yuuri's right wrist and he flinched backward.

The woman glared harshly at him before turning around to look directly into Yuuri's eyes. "Don't listen to him! Just because you're a little bit special doesn't mean you get to ruin everything!" She screamed before grabbing onto her son's arm and dragging him behind her. As soon as they stepped foot inside she let go of her sons arm as if nothing happened.

When she looked back at him she immediately regretted doing that. Her baby was crying his eyes out, tears streaming down his face and blood staining the sleeves of his shirt. "Yuuri?" She called out softly as she kneeled down in front of him and took one of his hands in hers. "Why are you crying? What happened?"

Her son sniffed and wiped the tears away from his cheeks. "Mama please forgive me... Please I promise I won't do it again."

Yuuri's mother sighed and pulled her son into a tight hug and kissed him gently on the forehead. "Of course I forgave you, baby. Why are you acting like this?"

"She hit me…"

The two sat together in silence until his mom decided to break it. "Is that your mom?"

Yuuri nodded. He never got the chance to meet his birth family.
