Chapter 33

Victor POV

Victor sighed and rubbed his hands together. He'd been sitting outside in the cold rain for almost fifteen minutes and his palms began to become raw from trying to create sparks. But there was something else weighing heavily on Victor's heart. It made him feel like something terrible was about to happen; as if fate had suddenly decided to punish Victor for something that had happened more than half a century ago. He closed his eyes for a second and tried to focus his thoughts on something happier, but it was no use. All he could think of were Katsuki's last words to him before dying.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you."

Victor opened his eyes and sighed. That's exactly what had kept replaying in his mind every day since he lost the memories of what had happened to him. It was painful, and Victor was beginning to feel that his whole life, his memories of the events that occurred were tainted by the memory of what his twin brother had done to him.

Victor's thoughts were interrupted when a large black car rolled to a halt in front of him. A man got out of the passenger seat and approached Victor. Victor stood up and walked towards the car.

"How may I help you?" Victor asked respectfully as soon as the man came close. He hated having to bow down to men. Men were weak.

"I'm here on behalf of a certain member of the organization that I'm going to help you build," the man replied calmly before pulling a gun out of his pocket. Victor frowned, but quickly calmed down after he recognized that the man was carrying a tranquilizer gun. The man placed the gun in a holster underneath his trench coat and held out a hand for Victor to shake.

"My name is Shigaraki Tomura. I am also the leader of our organization."

"Of course, sir. I'm sorry if my question earlier confused you, sir," Victor apologised in a polite voice. He bowed low and shook the leader's hand firmly. "What shall I call you sir?"

"Just call me 'Dabi.' Don't forget that I'm your superior here and I can order you to do anything. Also, don't call me sir unless you want me to kill you." Dabi smiled as he watched the young boy tremble in fear.

"So, Dabi, what is your business here? Is something happening tonight?" Victor asked as he straightened up, hoping that Dabi wouldn't harm him for asking too many questions.

"You are correct, little one. Something is happening tonight. I have received information recently that an enemy faction of yours has attacked and taken hostages. Our goal is to eliminate all threats to our organisation."

Victor nodded his head understandingly. Of course, the faction wasn't actually attacking them, they were probably just taking hostages. However, Victor couldn't just leave them to get executed, especially considering how many lives the faction had ruined. He'd need to talk to their leaders to see if they were willing to change their views on violence to avoid a war, because if that faction was allowed to live, they could potentially cause trouble for us again.

"I'll inform our leaders about this," Victor said. He then looked at Dabi and gave him a slight bow. "Thank you, Dabi, for helping me. Good luck tonight," he added before walking away. Victor returned to his apartment and found his mother cleaning their room. She greeted him with a smile and put her broom away when she saw his expression change from joyful to gloomy within mere seconds.

"Is everything okay?" his mother asked worriedly, placing a hand on her husband's shoulder. Victor nodded his head and forced himself to smile at his mom, "It's nothing, mom. Nothing at all." Victor let out a sigh. Even though he had promised to tell her the truth, he still lied to her.
